For those who are unfamiliar with the 1970s, The Captain and Tenille were a "band” that made some of the cheesiest songs you’ll ever hear in your life. However, get this... Epitaph is a sub stand, not a stand on it's own, this is proven by the fact that Diavolo can still use it despite Doppio's death. Sheer heart attack is also a sub stand, while bites the dust is a stand ability. Stands can have more than just one ability, as is seen with Gold Experience having several aspects of it's life giver ability (making souls go berserk, reflecting attacks).
