You could easily get timed and countered, miss and hurt your own leg, they could eat the first few and keep powering, especially a bigger opponent. Imo it's front kick to the leg over a low kick
How is it risky? Have any of you ever caught one? I use it all the time in sparring, mma and kickboxing and what people do if they see it, is step back and then we continue. If you can't use a technique it doesn't mean people who have trained it a lot and understand the timing can't throw it either.
@@SkepticalMantisCHANNEL10 Shin may disable yourself a bit too, it would also impacted your ability to run full speed, so above the knee kicks would be better, little risk, huge pain and disables their leg for sure if their untrained.
I remember my brother telling me, this kid when we were in high school , mid 90s, some bully was trying to bullying him and he straight jump spinning back kick like you do in the video and hit him right on the liver area. No one mess with him for the entirely of high school. Kicks works you just need set up and timing and most importantly, commit !!
I think roundhouses below the chest, especially calf and leg kicks are also great for self defense, because we all remember the first time we got leg kicked lol
The 5 blackbelts I personally watched lose bad in street fights against non trained ppl all lost throwing a round house. Leg got caught and they got taken down
@@Slycoopdid they try to chop the leg or do a high kick? also if you’re trained it would be a mistake to not fake initially because most people dont anticipate a fake
Spot on! The front kick is always easy and no nonsense. I did karate for 3 years and the mae geri is still the only kick that I’m really comfortable with (I love the sidekick, but I don’t think I could really apply it).
Low kick or side kick are the best in my opinion, side kick has worked for me especially against bigger people so I’d recommend either a low kick or side kick also because most people have never felt a low kick or damage to their legs so it’s unexpected and it hurts them like hell
Side kick is what I would go with. I played around with it and even though I’m not the best at it and never really practice it, but can do it. It’s just as fast as a jab when tested with a friend from a standing position. Front kick/push kick, don’t know if they are considered the same thing but different names, just doesn’t feel are powerful or fast for me. Maybe it has to do with it being able to prop yourself to the side and kick than it is to raise your leg up and thrust.
Honestly, I've been training on pavement for several years now (my teacher doesn't have a gym, so we just spar outside), and I've lost ballance far fewer times than when I trained on a mat. Then again, we mostly do kickboxing-style sparring, so we hardly ever catch kicks or try to sweep our opponent, so this might be a factor
Front kick is for pushing people, low kick is for chopping them down like a tree, and side kick is for punishing them when they back off and try to get a run at you. But what’s most important is that you practice these techniques during sparring or a tournament fight so that you can get a flow going.
Oblique kicks, groin kicks, thigh kicks, and shin kicks are actually quiet effective, even a sloppy front kick to the face can be quiet effective and hard to block
Personally I think a purring kick ( type of low kick) is best since your smashing your shoes into there shin and can still keep your eyes on the attacker.
Knowing in street fights yes there is a lot of views of throwing kicks in them but honestly if your trained and you know what your doing a kick can be the deadliest weapon but it’s about how you execute it. That or just not fight at all because you are trained as a deadly weapon so it’s best to keep restraint until the right time 🔥
Side kicks are great for getting your opponent away so that you can get away. A roundhouse or side kick to the knee is a great way to keep them from following you
The low kick and teep is probably the only kicks you ever really wanna use in a street fight hard to read and hard to catch even if you do see it coming
I do a leading hook kick... And it fairly works... I have Hook, straight, Side, and reverse hook kick... These simple kicks fairly work but you also got to have that natural instinct in fighting
YYYEEESSSS, front kick RUUULLLEESSS Simple but powerful, no one gonna expect a nice strong kick to the stomach or lower hanging ribs. Great short Nate 👍
Me as a muay thai practicioner i might be a bit biased (i also somewhat know alot of karate kicks, but im not great at them) i would say that the roundhouse would be the best for keeping distance.
tbh a strong kick from the side onto the leg (either bottom or top part idk) or into the kidney sounds more lethal than the front kick but not as much as the back kick may seem
Push-kick is effective, but I'd say it's quite easy to be catched and someone could pull then and put you on the ground. Obviuoisly, everything depends on the situation and circumstances.
IMO, only folks whom train significantly with kicking should even consider kicking in 'street' conditions. Kick speed, understanding distance, and surprise are all essential elements that come from practice/repetition. I would trend towards front or side kicks; round kicks are usually 'telegraphed' (from back foot or an elongated chamber). Most people fight in a linear fashion making a side kick particularly devastating when coupled with appropriate timing (opponent is moving towards you).
Front snap kick thrown with the lead leg it’s not the strongest kick but it’s fast and surprising enough to tip control of the engagement in your favour
For me i would be the round kick it won't break the persons whole body nor paralyze them it may break their ribs but they won't die and also it's easy to do, it's fast overall and your also not looking away from the person but everyone knows the best kick for self defense is to run away 😂
Front kick, round kick, and the side kick would all work on a street fight. You can all throw them low, and they are not as risky as a hook kick or a spin kick. The front kick a short but strong strike, the side kick is a powerful kick or can create distance, and the round kick can swipe someone’s legs and do some good damage to the ribs. A back kick or a spinning back kick can end a fight but the reason you shouldn’t throw it is because for a split second you can’t see your target and you can miss. Or lose your balance.
people who have train a long time have insane sense of balance when kicking. I don't understand why people think it doesn't work in real fight on the streets. a middle kick from someone that trained years would break an untrained guy's rib easy. a back kick full powered could send someoen to the er with a lot of damage. no don't do head kicks I got in trouble for that... I thought the guy wasn't gonna wake up. low kick of a trained guy vs untrained target is easy knee dislocation if you hit hard enough on the right spot.
like many others are saying, the easiest and id say safest one to do is the leg kick. in sparring i throw many kicks and i get my push kicks and anything above the waist caught every now and then but the leg kick lands every single time and even with little effort and me pulling it, it still deals damage and effects them. Leg kick always!
THIS IS SPARTA!!! No but seriously, the back kick and front one are great usage of street fights as it provides distance between you and your opponent.
The best one and only knockout kick I've ever connected with is the upward front kick in my opinion. You do a 1-2 combo punch then throw up a guard while leaping backwards, leaning forwards on your backfoot, and kicking up to the jaw as your oponent moves in to strike. You can throw in a hook feignt to distract them, keeping them looking up, as you strike from below. Make sure you have good strong knees or you will hurt yourself. You need to leap backwards like 2-4 feet varrying on the mobility of your opponent. It even works on people who love takedowns. It's a crane style technique. Kung fu is very useful if you mix it with other martial arts.
in a self defense situation I once used the calf kick or what I would call the chopping kick lol, but what sucked is that the guy punched me while I wore glasses ... breaking through the glass part with his knuckle and knuckle kinda stabbed against my orbital bone I think in a single strike
Well, looks like this dude's giving us tips on how to kick butt in a street fight. Thanks for the heads-up, now I can upgrade my self-defense game from "flailing arms" to "semi-coordinated kicks." Appreciate it, Sensei!
only use back kick if they are moving towards you. (like throwing a jab or reverse punch) if they are standing still, they can move out of the way and attack you from behind.
