I have never seen this version of a uni knot used ingenious!. I have used a arbor, and went with a uni and your right the way it sits is not nice. I like to put 1 wrap of electrical tape over the loop and knot so the line doesn't spin on the spool ever. I also use a modified uni where i go through 2 times at the start, just make sure the 2 wraps dont cross over each other. I am pretty sure i can do that with this knot to.
Only time I’ve had line spin on me is with braid only. To keep it from doing that, I’ll mono onto the spool, load enough line to cover the spool, and tie the mono to the braid with a blood knot or double uni knot. Haven’t ever used tape to keep it from spinning, but I bet that will work just fine!
@ShowMetheHawgs i won't tie anything else but a fg knot braid to mono. I have never had one brake. If i am in a rush, an alberto looks to be good and easy to tie, but i haven't tried yet.
