The vast majority of KOAs are locally owned and operated small businesses. We're just here to help as much as we can! Thanks for choosing KOA and we hop to see you again soon!
@kampgrounds of America Inc - Thank you so much for leaving a comment! We've become huge fans of KOAs, and as full-timers tackling all 50-states we stay at them regularly. Maybe we should collaborate? If you're interested, reach out to us at hello@wanderlocal.com. 🙌
Thank you, Jonathan! We loved it here so much and can’t wait to come back. This is definitely one of our all-time favorite spots in the US! Lauren + Daniel
Cesar!!! How are you friend?! We are doing well this week. We're visiting family, then headed back on the road very soon again to shoot even more videos. We hope you are doing well and staying safe this week. Lauren + Daniel
Franchised isn’t the same as locally-owned. They still send gobs and buckets of money to KOA each year just like McDonalds or Taco Bell. Your video is great and I can tell you had good fun.
We just spent last weekend at the Charlottesville koa. It was ok. Had a bad storm and damaged our camper. Had to leave early. Next one we want to go to is Luray. We live in VA and are still new to this. In September, hopefully we can get time to go. Just watching hurricane weather. Not for there for where we live on the coast.
Thanks, Andy! Hope you're having a wonderful week. This was another fun one to shoot. Especially, the craziness with the white water rafting adventure. L+D
You two are so amazing. I’m always entertained watching your videos. Thank you so much for sharing. This KOA is simply amazing. This one looks so unique.
🥰Smalls RV Adventures- Thank you, thank you! 🙏 We absolutely loved this KOA. While there, we had a chance to talk at great lengths with the family that runs the place. Such great people. That’s always an added bonus! L+D
Glad to know that KOAs can still be local. That is something we have to remember, it might be a National name, but it could be locally owned and operated. Thank you for sharing and have a great day!
Hi, Augie! This was an important video for us to shoot. We were so wrong about they all being corporate and had to admit it open and honestly so people didn't make the same mistake as us. There are lots of locally owned KOA's around the country. We're excited to visit more of them along the way. L+D
Hi, Fletcher! Isn't this place wonderful?! We especially loved the super wide spaces. Also, the pizza they were making on site was pretty darn good too. This area of the country is always so beautiful, and we can't wait to come back soon. L+D
Okay, watched from the beginning… wow! The whole raft of folks fell out and flipped over! Never seen that. Another KOA that I loved was Bismarck North Dakota. Nice wide sites with privacy on both sides. We then went over to Casper which was a gravel lot that was not level. Sorta like best to not so good. Nice ending shot guys! 👍
Thanks, Bill! The video didn’t do these rapids justice. It was a hella wild ride. We lost 12 people in the rapids that day (one was bleeding from his nose) and the others were scrambling to make it to shore after being trapped under the raft. It was a crazy day for sure! The guides all agreed that it was one of the craziest rides they had all season. I know one or two of them will end up popping on here in a comment. They were looking forward to this episode!!! Also, we’ll have to add Bismarck to our list! ND is one of the states we have yet to visit. 🙌 Daniel
Hi, Shion and Matthew! We hope you both are having a lovely week. Aren't sticker maps fun? The more you add, the more quickly you want to finish the entire map. We've run across a few people that have all 50-states filled. #RVGoals
Hi, Evo! We haven't been to the KOA in Davie, but we'll take your word for it. We're definitely not drinking the KOA kool-aid. Some are absolutely fantastic, but, like you said, some are...not so great! 🤣L+D
@@Wanderlocal that’s where I saw you guys! I kept wanting to go say hi but either you were not home or I was working 🥲 this was a while ago, when you had your old Airstream. I think you said you were gonna go pick up your new one after.
Ahh, that’s right!! We 💯 remember seeing your camper at that campground. We were down that way for a business meeting, so didn’t spent too much time at the camper that trip. The next time we’re out your way, we’ll have to grab lunch! 🙌
At least you weren't sent flying off the raft! Love white water rafting.KOA's come in 3 levels:least expensive- some former private RVparks. Mid-level much better parks. High end parks. I've stayed at 1 and toured 2 others. Stay safe.
Kurt, we were fortunate to be on a raft with a good team of people and came out of that situation without flipping. Whew. Thanks for the KOA insights. If you run into any that you think are absolutely incredible, be sure to let us know. There's a few listed here in the comments now that we're going to have to check out next. This is all good info! We hope you're having a wonderful week. L+D
Oh, gosh. That’s a hard question. It was definitely the white water rafting. The rapids were challenging, but knowing we were able to keep the boat top side was a huge win. We passed several boats that flipped along the way. Luckily, everyone was ok, but it added a lot more adventure than we were ready for that day! L+D
Hi, James! How are you doing this week? We were so glad to make this video and tell the world that we were wrong about them all being corporate. Now that we know that, we're going to be more like you and look for some KOA's along our journeys to stay at! L+D
Oh, John, this spot is absolutely lovely! The sunsets here were stunning. We’ll definitely be coming back to this place soon. There’s so much to do locally that we just couldn’t fit it into this one trip. L+D
🤣 David, great question! We’re planning on renting a Class B (#vanlife) for that trip…OR maybe Airstream will ship one over for us to use! That would be amazing!!! 🤔 L+D
Hi, Sukie! Great question. We travel with the bed and table in the upright position. No one ever told us to lower them while in transit. Luckily, we've travelled 25k miles with no issues. L+D
James, the water was a little cold! 🥶That being said, because of all of the craziness with the crashed rafts and rescue mission we had plenty of adrenaline to keep us warm! Like you said, we'll have to come back in the spring again. L+D
