I just started My Interior Architecture & design course in london and I am not gonna lie I’ve been probably doing my research in what laptop to upgrade to for like 3 months now. It’s a really hard decision bc I want to invest in something really good and don’t want to make the bad decision. So thank you for your video this really helped !🙏🏼
@@chileanyways196 I went with the MacBook 2021 Pro with the M2 Max chip. So far I can say that all the programs like the adobe suite, sketchUp, rhino and Cad which I use atm run without a problem. at the end I was deciding between the razor blade or Mac and I am happy I went with mac since I also use my iPad quite a lot and working with both works smoothly.
@@lililuise6043 hey I’m in a similar position also considering macs however it’s been said that revit will not work on the new m1/m2 chips because it’s an arms processor. What made I decide on the m2 and will you be using revit etc or have you found a workaround? Please help
@@randomstix3351 hey, so far we will not be using revit until the last year in uni where we have computers for usage. I don’t know how it will be in 2 years time so I will just wait and see, so far I am very happy with my decision. But unfortunately I can’t tell you if revit is or will be working on macs.
This video is misleading, underpowerd laptop , there are cheaper twice faster laptops out there with powerful dedicated gpu. Some popular render engines dont support MAC. If your use case is satisfied by Mac then its a great choice, its incredibly powerful and silent in a thin form factor.
Greetings thomas! its me again and i'm at my 2nd year in my architecture student life! I'm starting to become better with my style and i'm getting used to the workloads. Time management is key! also its nice to have friends to talk to in your course.
Thank you very much for this video. I'm going to the second year of architecture and I'm thinking about buying a new pc and I was on the idea of buying a macbook and this video undoubtedly helped me a lot. Kisses, BC
I would recommend getting laptops made by MSI, Asus, and Lenovo (Legion Series). Dell, Alienware, and HP unless you get a good deal (I wouldn't recommend them).
Great video Thomas! glad to see you with an XPS at last ;) The Asus Rog Zephyrus laptops are also in my top pick this year so also worth a look for anyone purchasing a laptop for architecture on a 2k or less budget.
@@ThomasRowntree hey Thomas, I also think that decent Choice....but what bothers me the lack of numpad as I use it a lot on autocad and lack of good io ports...that were the main reasons I would skip XPS and go for legion pro 5 instead....
@@ThomasRowntree nice video 👍🏾 are you still happy with it? Any negatives yet ? I’m currently thinking about this machine to run enscape for rendering bespoke joinery alongside sketchup pro. Regards Jake
@@foluolawaye4696 Hi Folu, if you're looking to explore a range of rendering engines then I would recommend at least a 6gb graphics card. You may want to check out the Dell G15 if you're on a budget. One of my students just purchased one with an i7 processor, 16gb Ram, RTX3060 and 1TB SSD for under £1k (with student discount) so there's definitely some good options!
Just a straight Thankyou for this video! A+ on start to finish. From how you explained cpu to how you made this overall video etc. thank you for the help!
Helpful video, thank you. On Rhino requirements, can you expalin the sifference between memory RAM and Video RAM. Also, what is the recommended GPU and CPU for Rhino? I find the terminology in each system requirements slightly different which makes it difficult to keep track. Thank you for your help.
Laptops for architecture can be a minefield. I have a Precision 7510 currently but it's hardly a laptop as the battery is fried and even when it wasn't I was only managing an hour and a half before needing a charge. I'm now looking at an XPS17 but I must admit I am a little worried as historically anything not ISV certified has caused glitches. How is the XPS15 (is it a 7590?) for battery?
Well done Thomas! such as always spreading eye-catching content that's why I'm always checking out if you've uploaded a brand new video. striking fact: In my country laptops and technological devices are fairly expensive therefore we tend to purchase these sorts of stuff abroad :c
Would you say the zenbook duo is a good choice. I’m a civil engineering student but I’m going to have to use revit and autocad next semester and the second screen does sound useful.
I have been doing my research on these for a month now ! Which one do u think can be stonger : Lenovo yoga slim 7i ,asus Zenbook 14 x, Samsung galaxy book 3 360 ? Thanks
Hi Already a follower... catching Up on most important aspects of begginers in draughtsman course (course starts this month 29thApril-FYI JUST RESIGNED FROM insurance gig but have no remorse whatsoever 🙄) Challenge is all is financed cash from My savings AND Boy have I suffered a bankruptcy blow - no thanks to My recent personal Villa project 🥺🏠. Just acquired AN HP 15 INTEL CORE I7 8gb - 1Tb ram for 11k brand new 2nd hand). Now I I'm losing sleep over the special offer for discount in course 39k Cash (monthly instalments 45k total)... Hoping your journey in office and outa office will be most enlightening as far as engineering is conserned
Great video, I would be interested to know why you opted to move away from Apple though, presumably because a similar spec MacBook pro 14" or 16" would be twice the price?
Heyy man , Hii , hope you are doing good. I’m an Interior designer who is more into softwares like , auto cad , V ray , sketch up , 3ds max , lumion , revit , rendering heavy images at top quality etc . Would you be able to recommend me a better laptop for my workflow and I’m also confused on , which configuration of the new M1 pro or the M1 max would help me with my needs . Do let me know which one to purchase with the configurations 👍🏻
hi this has been a great help... thank u.. i didnt get this model in my country. can u please help me analyse this laptop ...(Mi Notebook Ultra 3.2K resolution display Intel Core i7-11370H 11th Gen 15.6-inch(39.62 cm) Thin and Light laptop (16GB/512GB SSD/Iris Xe Graphics/Win 10/MS Office/Backlit KB/Fingerprint sensor/1.7Kg) NB: im interior designer i use autocad, edsmax, vray, photoshop etc. regards..
hello, normally apple products arent recommended due to compatibility issues with some programs you will have to use later on. for example revit is extremely essential but it is only compatible with microsoft so it will be a hassle to use in a macbook. so in general i would recommed i7 for the long run
Hi, I'm really undecided between the XPS and the Asus Zephyrus M16, can someone help me in the choice? The XPS has 32GB of RAM, while the M16 only has 16 but it has an rtx 3070 versus the 3050ti of the XPS
