Watch Part 2 of this video series, where we run each of these edger blades in the field and calculate numbers to derive how much they cost to run for each mile of use. Here's the link: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-qLR2dW7HwhI.html
i have used the golden edge blade for 5 years and use it to this day, the only thing i will say is that when you first use it will create a dust storm, but it does leave a very nice deep wide edge in the lawn
Ballard Inc has a blade that might be worth adding to the list. Also I was going to mention the standard size commercial edger blade also fits Ego edgers.
"Florida sells more edgers than the rest of the country combined..." That is why my (a 40+ year old) Trailmate edger was made in Florida. I wish they were still making them. I may need a new part one of these days!
Unfortunately the price on these has gone up a little since this video was released. They're only $0.50 more on our website in case you want to check them out. Here's the link: www.mainstreetmower.com/products/rotary-edger-blade-7-11-16-x-1-unsharpened?_pos=1&_sid=9e1d1b292&_ss=r
It would be cool if you tried some with electric edgers. See if they struggle more or if the power head gets hotter compared to the one they came with. Being that I made a huge investment into the Milwaukee Fuel Quik lock one, if be scared to try one other than the original due to the warranty.
Great idea Dan. We do have a battery vs gas edger test though, in case you're interested. Here's the link: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-ZiPFcOQCRq4.html
Maybe run the golden edge in a bucket of sand? I would think that it might simulate Florida conditions pretty well. And then maybe run a few of the others in sand too for comparison.
I never saw the quad blade run. According to you it was the best so why didn't you rate it #1, cost ? By the way those aren't even edgers (it's a weedwacker) unless you're a contractor doing a half ass fast job.
