My son is 10yrs old now and I am looking for a good mower so I can start paying him instead of my Gardner. I think I’m going to get this tomorrow. Great video, thank you.
Yeah, I bought this mower a couple of months ago and I am very impressed with it! And I have had many products over the years with Briggs and Stratton engines and have never had a single problem with any of them, they are great motors! And I am 61 years old! Thanks!
Definitely considering to buy this mower, this coming spring. have close to half an acre, so the high wheels are a bonus for my hilly front and back lawn. I have a old toro power propelled mower but it has problems so definitely need to replace it with this craftsman mower, ☺thx for the review much appreciated
I just got the 230 and it seemed perfect. First pull every time. Nice power and everything. I started it about 10 times in the two times I used it. Put it under a tarp for a week and now it won't start. Oil and gas are good. Kill handle is good because it does try to catch maybe two or three rotations, then stops. I tried starting with air filter and gas cap off just in case it had a pressure issue, but no dice. I took off the top cover and tried manually manipulating a couple parts of the auto throttle assembly on top in front, and underneath in back, but she just refuses to go. Any ideas? It was new, so I don't suspect too much could be wrong. It did get rained on when heavy winds blew the tarp off once, but I wouldn't imagine that would kill it. Thanks for taking the time to read all this. If you think of anything I'd really appreciate the feedback.
The most common issues on these newer budget lawnmowers that I've seen is the carburetors are cheap and often get gunked up and the magneto/ magnetic pickup that is next to the flywheel to give the spark plug its spark often cracks etc.
@@stevehoch9528 thanks for trying to help. I did try starting it without the filter a few times. Maybe the first tries with the filter on, drew some water into the carb? Still working on it. I'll have to keep taking parts off until I find the gremlins. Thanks for your time, guys.
@@heatshield no problem buddy. I had a pressure washer that got soaked by a broken pipe in a garage. The engine oil and the gas had water in them. I drained the oil and gas out of it and it was fine. Try that.
Just got this mower. I have a big piece of land to mow. I have a rider, but it's old, and I thought there would be times this machine would need to do the whole thing. Turns out the tractor is working, so I just left a little to try it out. Anyway, the side discharge chute kept falling off. I wound up mulching instead. Now, I know I let the grass grow too thick, and that's bad, but humans are imperfect creatures. I would have expected it to be a bit more rugged than that.
@@ToastyDIY we just bought the one with electric start and we love it now we live in a trailer park so the yards are small and our old one was like the one u had with the 6.75 hp Briggs and Stratton engine and had to put gas in it each time but with the new one we can now mow twice on one tank of fuel
Electric start is a pita. I had one. Adds lots of weight , motor not recharge battery needs horsepower to charge. I tried to buy a new Craftsman but Lowes wanted $78.00 to deliver. Went with Amazon, free delivery.
I really want this but it's so many bad reviews so I dunno if it's just ppl aren't taking care of it properly or just getting flustrated or it's the truth of what most ppl are saying. I'm sure we all have some tendencies of not reading instructions lol.
There are lot of issues with it not starting up next year. I tried starting up this year and it wont' start. I had fuel from last mow sitting but that's about it. everything else was cleaned prior to end of last season
This is late but there is a dial on the lever that you hold to engage the self propel motor. Just turn it clock wise to add more speed or counter clock to lower. Just purchase this model a month ago and was pushing it more than it was driving itself. Turns out the wife never adjusted it.
Have owned 3 Craftsman mowers in my lawn mowing life. Buyer beware. The power, performance and quality have steadily declined. Could say that for most mowers these days. I think the best was the Honda but they stopped making mowers in 2023. Just sayin. Good luck.
