This is the best tool for sorting LEGO! This handcrafted, multi-layered sieve, filters through the parts beautifully! It even catches the dust. I came across this on Instagram and was like... take my money!

Not sure about this. Big bulky expensive and did not seem to sort very well as small parts were still in the top trays after you had sorted. Too much solid space between the holes. I would think a mesh system would work much better

I have seen and been tempted by this sorter in the past too. I don't have the amount of bulk Lego that would require something so large. For now, I will settle for the trays a coworker 3D printed for me. I paid him back by buying new filaments for him to try.

I have a small 1 tier one that sorts out anything smaller than a 2x2 brick and it has been very useful. I can only imagine how useful this one is. I wish I could get this one, but the price is high. The way I have seen to shake the bin is in a rotating way by grabbing the corners and spinning it. It moves the bricks around more than a back and fourth motion.
@dannyfrog
@dannyfrog Год назад
Outstanding product! I was thinking you could stain it but the natural wood look is very clean looking. Also, if you buy bulk lego from either online or at a yard/garage sale, I have found that you can use mesh laundry bags and dump your legos in the bags, wash them in warm water with Dawn dish soap and air dry them.

It is a nice brick sorter. It is actually built and assembled by another RU-vidr. April Wilkerson has a company in Texas called The Wood Shed that Pete contracted with for her to build these using an automated process. Look very well built out of birch plywood but the price is way too much for the average LEGO fan I think.

Where I live there is a cat litter scoop that is nearly perfect for the job (round holes, all but one so small that they let not pass 2x2 plates but big enough for 1x1 ). I have also seen garden sifters that might do the job and there are professional companies where you can order meshed plates with round holes to your liking. My big issue with all these sorting devices is that they often let pass 1xN plates and bricks to lower layers or 2x2 square plates fall into holes but do not pass through and block all holes. So all these devices lack a industrial grade feeding systems and a transport system so the sorter doesn't get too full or jammed, or blocked...
@SomethingJapanese
@SomethingJapanese Год назад
Honestly that's not that useful. You still have to do a lot of manual sorting and you'll get real tired in your back beacause you'll constantly be leaning over. It's only good for sorting by size which is least time consuming anyways

This really works. Great invention. Mass produced out of plastic would drop the price tremendously of course. But I think the market is too small for this. So this wooden handcrafted sorter is the right choice and a good investment if you handle often with bulks of Lego.

If I had the space to store it, and the money. I'd love a chance to play with it. My Lego collection isn't that big yet. My parents are keeping all the Legos we had as a kid for the gradkids to play with. So I'm starting from scratch as an adult. I think they may have even taken some bulk generic legos I bought in my 30's to make square molds for casting resin molds in. so nos that I'm nearing 50 and getting back into lego, and buying from scratch again... Maybe it needs a game element to it to make it more attractive as content to draw people back? Also starting the bidding higher, just felt terrible, you do all this great work to source some really cool minifigs and most of them go too low in price and mostly to one customer. Bricksie, one thing I meant to comment yesterday was I suggest that (if you can with your schedule). Your 4 upload days be during the week. Most RU-vidrs who upload 3-5 videos a day find that they get the most consistent views and interaction when they stick to a weekday schedule (e.g. MTWT or MTWF). Sundays and Saturdays tend to be lower "view" days because folks aren't always on their screens. I hope you take this into consideration.

I like it cheap, simple, & effective. 5 gallon pickle buckets. Don't buy them. Get them from restaurants. Drill holes in the bottom & a few inches up the side. Or if you're really cheap, cut the holes with a sharp (new) utility blade. Same idea, bigger holes as you go up to the top bucket. Don't put holes in the sides of the top few buckets.
