Good tips. One of my BIG problems I discovered was the space where I have the option to self-tape (room that big enough to set up) is also some damn horror movie like light sucking void monster. I started off with fighting shadows like a Hitchcock movie, especially on an overcast day and this was a killer problem of wasted time and especially having darker toned skin. The simple fix was a floor lamp from Target (it's always Target or duct tape isn't it) which I can also now use as a back lighting for depth behind my backdrop. I didn't get into this game to become a Gaffer, but damn if I don't appreciate their hustle more and more in the self-tape age.

Great video but you also need a proper directional mic. People's auditions are so much more enhanced when the echo is eliminated and the person sounds more present. Check out Rode Microphones or the Zoom H1N. I know the topic is lighting, but the sound in this video could be easily enhanced.

Hi. Do you have a solution how to get rid of the reflection in the eyes that the ring light causes?

Yes, but it only works with white or light gray walls. Turn the ring light completely around to the highest setting and the light will bounce off the white wall onto your face giving a very warm glow to your self tape.

Thanks for watching!!! It really depends. I have a small space so I use the 53 X 36 and have to cut my paper and roll it sideways which is a real pain and then tack it on my wall. However I suggest the 107 if you can fit it and roll it down so you can cut paper as it gets yucky and get a wall mount for it--also you wont have a bajillion holes in your wall. :) I've put a link to all my backdrops in the description.
