Spring trout trolling can be challenging. Cal Kellogg breaks down the best lures for consistent success. Metal Head Flies: www.fishhuntshoot.com/product... F.H.S. Grubs: www.fishhuntshoot.com/product...
The Junior trolling fly works well in Lake Eucumbene (Snowy Mountains, Australia). Used it a couple of weeks ago and pulled in 4 good sized rainbows. Haven't tried the grubs but did well on the Crippled Minnow - gotta love the action of the Crippled Minnow.
Great info Cal. Really appreciate the update on what's been working. Get the metal head flies back in stock!!! I've had them in my cart for quite some time waiting for availability. Northern NH trolling needs metal heads! :-)
It’s true, those trolling flies work. I was trolling 2 weeks ago for an hour with flashers and a #1 needlefish, a kastmaster etc. All my usual offerings. Not a single bite. Threw on a fly with a wiggle disk and caught 5 in the next hour. Thanks Cal.
I ordered the metal head flies and used a dodger with about 2.5 dodger lengths of leader and was automatic all day first time using them but the fish size wasnt there. I also used one fly with the action disc and nothing…any advice on different tactics how to utilize these flies, itsobvious they work but there seems to be certain ways they do and dont??
