At minute 9:50 . The Leica 12-60mm at 56mm was in aperture 4.0 instead of 4.8. I read it wrong on the monitor while I was recording this video.. my mistake! Thanks for letting me know and I'm sorry for the mistake!
I've bought Sigma 16mm and 30mm f/1.4 to use with my Olympus 12-40mm f/2.8 for photo or videoshoot. At the event Sigma make me happy with background blur to reduce some background distraction from people behind at event. And too many people complain about Sigma 16mm lens it's not sharp at f.1/4 you must change to f1.8 or 2.0 and it's too heavy. And tell me to change to Olympus 17mm f/1.8 instead but I don't care I'm happy everytime with this lens. 😂😂😂
Dude 😃 I've seen a review on RU-vid from one guy shooting with Olympus reviewing the Sigma 16mm 1.4. He showed that the lens was not so Sharp at 1.4 like you said. But after I read his comments and everybody was saying that the lens is very sharp on their camera. And so it's on my camera. On the GH5 even at 1.4 this lens looks sharp to me. Cool I've watched some videos of yours on RU-vid and I'm subscribed to your channel too☺️☺️☺️
oh, thank you so much! Yes I use the 30mm very often! For talking head it's really great too! They have the best image quality of all my M43 lenses. The autofocus is good, even on the GH5. I might going to upgrade to the GH7 soon (if the rumours are true) and I can keep all those lenses together. I will keep my GH5 too and still using it in my coming videos 😃. Thank you for the SUB!
Great comparisons and awesome set of Sigma lenses. With a speedbooster the Sigma 18-35 F1.8 reads on camera as F1.2. Only problem is it is such a narrow focal point at 1.2 but it does get that nice bokeh. My next big lens purchase is going to be the Sigma ART 50-100 F1.8 so that I can get the range of 18-35 then 50-100. Great work as always. I can't wait to get a GH5. I have that 25mm 1.7 and still can't believe the quality for the price.
Nice at 1.2 ? Do you get autofocus with that lens setup? That’s so important for me. I use the autofocus when I’m on front of the camera as a solo shooter so that I can control the autofocus through the mobile app..
@@kenslyder the autofocus works but continuous autofocus is unreliable with the Panasonic G7. The touch to focus sometimes takes a few tries when at 1.2 I manually pull with the phone apps. When I try on gh5 I will update you.
the sigma 56mm was my first prime for MFT, and when ever I think it maybe low light, it is in my bag. The 12-60 I used for years, but recently switched to the 14-140 for travel.
Good video content, thanks Ken. I agree with you about the 25 1.7, I use it for B&W too, the softer look often bodes well with some subjects. Wish you well with the channel. 👏
Amazing stuff. I bought my first lens because of you. The Sigma 56mm f1.4, its been the best purchase I've made to date. Thinking of getting the 30mm next ... 🏃♀️➡️
Wow that 16mm 1.4 is super impressive for what it is. Kit lens are super great too! I had no idea GH5 came with those. I mostly just bought the body and paired it with my anamorphic hahah. Love the presentation style too! Looking forward to seeing more stuff!
Thank you so much, I love your content too on RU-vid . You're very creative .. I've never used an anamorphic lens yet... LOL so many things we just haven't tried still after 7 years using this camera..
9:10 only the Sigma has nice reds in the skin. Hmm, interesting. Oh man... I only have the 12-35. f2.8 seems nice but now that I see the extra light the 1.4 gives you it looks nice to have. I also got a set of NDs for the 12-35 and it will only fit the 35-100. Too bad all that stuff cost quite a lot of money. But it's interesting to see the Sigma having nicer skin tones. It isn't just me seeing it, right? The other 2 lenses seems to have a yellow/mustard color on your skin.
@@kenslyder Hey! Doing well and have been getting back to various creative endeavors. Slowly shaping back to form. GH5 is still by my side and just got an external monitor to better see what is being filmed. Still a great camera and putting together a short film project with a local convenient store and the trouble they've dealt with regarding nearby competition sending in spies and a soda distributor that apparently takes bribes to affect the orders of competitors. Anyways, looking forward to more of your content.
Thanks a lot, this is priceless! I recently bought a GH5 and you are a great inspiration! I just got a Leica 15mm f1.7. (didn't have time to try it yet). I also have a M.Zuiko 30mm f/3.5 Macro which I really love!
Hello how're you doing? :) Thank you very much for your comment I'm glad you liked it. With the GH5 You're able to deep dive into photography and cinematography and with those 2 lenses you can be very creative... The 15mm 1.7 It's a cool wide angle lens where you can use it for a lot of things.. Like the 16mm from sigma that I talked a lot in this video... Your 15mm Is capable to shoot videos even in lowlight situations.. You can also use it for vlogs and a lot more... The 30mm Its a great Portrait and close up lens. You can also achieve a different look with it... Yes, a lens that is capable of filming macro is awesome and beautiful so you can move very close to the subject and getting a beautiful background blur even with the aperture of f/3.5 but you have to be close to the subject :) At f/3.5 this lens is week in love light compared to the 15mm f/1.7 though.. Cool, enjoy experimenting I'm happy for you ☺️☺️☺️☺️
@@mrtinacrispoti The Leica 15mm 1.7 I really good. You can check the lenses in my description if you want I just got my Amazon affiliate links for all lenses that I used in this video :)
Another great video, excellent breakdown of what to use and why… “ can I use it for interviews.” Hahah your reaction is priceless…made me laugh it was so good a moment thanks Ken…these help a lot 👍
I use 16 f1.4 and 25 f1.2 pro with 12-40 f2.8. Laowa 7,5 f2 cine for wide angle. With gh5 and omd em1 ii. Stop. But I want to add a FF camera like S5 ii
@@lvca.avellino Yeah I see many people switching to full frame. I just bought a second m43 camera. Now I have the GH5 and the GH7. The great thing about it, it’s that I can still use the same lenses on it
Nice video . The prices are pretty ok for those 1.4 ‘ downside no stabilization and any Weather sealed. How is the autofocus on 56mm? I own 6mm laowa’ 12-35mm lumix ’ 10-25mm Leica’ mitakon 25mm’ need something for a portrait. Was thinking about 35-100mm as well.
Hello. The Sigma 56mm 1.4 is weather sealed like the 16mm 1.4 as well. The Sigma 30mm is not weather sealed. The autofocus on the Sigma 56mm 1.4 works good and the lens is sharp even at 1.4. I did an autofocus video with the GH5 where I tried the autofocus in depth with this lens.. I'm going to put you the link of the video here: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-WrATGWa6dI4.htmlsi=tvHzzIUoM_GJXrxx It's an autofocus test for videos. For photos the autofocus works a lot better.I hope I could help :) thanks for the comment!
Ken, I found your comparaisons very interesting. From what I understood, - Those Pana 12-60 mm f 2.8-4.0 are weather resistant. - Sigma 30 mm and 56 mm f1.4 are not weather resistant. Since I'm considering to buy the 30 mm or the 56 mm, can you confirm it to me ?
thank you very much for the comment. the Sigma 56mm f/1.4 and the Sigma 16mm f/1.4, according of what I’ve seen on google, are both whether sealed. The Sigma 30mm f/1.4 it’s not whether sealed.
@@DLpriv1 I used the 56mm under bad whether condition. Its whether sealed but that doesn't mean for me that I can expose the lens without protection directly under the rain. I always fix a little plastic bag with a rubber band over the camera and the lens, for more protection.
Thanks to make me notice that, you're 100% right😓 my mistake I probably read 8 instead of 0 on the monitor. I will pin it in the comments and correct it. Thank you so much for letting me know man. My eyes are aging, so sorry!
I think you don't necessary need 1.4 for the shallow depth that you get with a 2.0 in 44 58mm. But 1.4 is a little bit better in lowlight. When you compare my 25mm 1.7 with the 30mm 1.4 in this video, you see that the 1.4 is a little bit brighter and I have to change the exposer in camera to mach. The Panasonic 25mm 1.7 coast only 150 and I don't regret it. the autofocus is good but this lens is not as sharp like sigma
no worry 😃 I love answering comments! Oh no I newer use expensive lights! You can use any light. And it doesn't even need to be strong. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-yFsKbjaL1ks.htmlsi=SkDY-oXeij92i6_Q but you can use a table lamp as well you decide how strong you want the light
Im looking for a good weather sealed lens 12 mm if possible for outside wide shots the leica was one i was looking at but not certain its a bit pricey still. I might get that panasonic lens 🤔
I made a comedy horror short film with those lenses. the 25mm 1.7 and the 56mm 1.4 ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-C5tQs6NvRJ0.htmlsi=YzdcbVVjrRkSEngf
Tengo 16 .1.4. Y pan 25 1.7. Cuál me recomiendas para mí próxima compra (tengo q ahorrar😊) el sigma 56 1.4 o el 30 mm 1.4. Cuál usas más de los dos ? Tengo dudas para mí próxima adquisición, locura por los lentes 😮😮
I use the 16mm 1.4 almost all the time. But when I want to shoot some close ups with even more background blur I prefer the look of the 30mm and 56mm. And the nice part (if you're going to get all 3 lenses) Is that the image quality, colors, contrast, and aperture is alway equal in all 3 focal length :) Those are my favourite lenses for M43 because of the image quality and sharpness even in 1.4 aperture.
Pls tell me how i get this black levels at real black, i mean on my gh5 the shadows and blacks are looking little bit noisy even if i choose 400 iso, now i get the blacks more black so i mean the blsck areas like for example in your background or the table and the lenses, this would most times espiacelly the shadows if i would film the shadows most times are much noise in it, what profile are you shooting at? I mean i have the sigma 18-35/ f.1.8 iguess this shouldnt be an issue to get a clean footage out of it, like kn your case damn its just so clean your shots pls tell me what profile you shooting or how you get rid of the shadow noise aswell pls.
Hello sure you can get beautiful black levels with the GH5.. there are many ways.. 1. My favourite picture profile like I shoot in this video is STANDARD. Play with your contrast level in standard. 2. In the Menu: Tap on the 2. camera logo and scroll down to highlights and shadows.... Play with the settings there until you achieve the look you're looking for... I personally don't change anything there but you can try.. 3. AND THIS IS THE MUST IMPORTANT: In the Menu go to the first camera Logo Check that your Luminance Level start at 0 - .....! Then scroll down in the same Menu until you see (Master Pedestal Level) Mine is set at 0.. But there is the magic... The Master Pedestal Level affects the Blacks only.. If you go negative - 0 -15 your blacks get more black if you go + 0 - 15, you're going to lift the blacks. So play around with the settings there... These are the most effective! 4. Everything else you can do in post production if you need but with the settings above, you should be good. :) TRY AND LET ME KNOW IF THAT WORKED... THE STANDARD PICTURE PROFILE HAS ONE OF THE CLEANEST ISO IN MY OPINION..
