I am here in support of you making jeans! I am working on a coat and that's part of my intention to level up my sewing skills. Appreciate this pattern roundup and ideas 💐
I did a long and a short Molly Tee from SewOverIt, in white and navy strip, and a pair in just white, another long and short sleeve Molly tee set in black jersey, and also a long sleeved black Origami top by The Makers Atelier, and also two roll neck Toaster by sew house 7, in a warm white and warm black jersey. I also made a stretch denim pair of lounge pants by the makers Atelier, And from a white background grey, black and khaki printed woven cotton viscose drapey fabric ; a long Marcy Tilton skirt with pockets, a redrafted Merchant and Mills Ellsworth shirt with a smock style collar, and the Hot patterns Montpellier dress. That was for winter into spring. Now I’m looking at another set of the woven, in a heavy linen, for summer, with a camberset dress by Merchant and Mills In a lighter weight, coloured linen, and the final addition of a hacked SOI coco jacket, with the addition of a collar and collar stand, as that suits my neck and face better- one in heavy strong coloured linen and one in antique recycled French and Dutch white linen with a self drafted long simple white dress to accompany the whole set. Depending on time I have a bright coloured modern bold printed woven cotton voile, that I might make a button through v neck tiered dress by Makers Atelier- all for the ( cool) spring into summer capsule. I felt these shapes looked best on my body, and having gone to the effort of making fitting changes I wanted to make multiple uses of each pattern. What do you think?
I think this all sounds AMAZING!! You GO, Sonia! Thanks so much for sharing what you've been working on, I can't wait to check these patterns out and I'd LOVE to see your makes! 💛
Thank you for the video! I am reminded that I have to be mindful when sewing my wardrobe for this year... I can get carried away and forget that a smart cohesive wardrobe is more practical and responsible than an abundant one.
I would love to see more of a focus on patterns that go up to at least a size 24 (30+ would be even better!). I enjoyed the pace, you moved right along! Might be cool to demo an actual capsule wardrobe my make fabric recs for the patterns such that they would make a capsule!
Thanks, Lynnie! I try my best to be as inclusive as possible! But I also know that there's always room to improve, so I'm open to others sharing their favs too! 💛
I love your content. You are one of only two sewists for which I have notifications turned on. I think you should join #fridaysews to gain a wider sewing audience.
