Glad you mentioned the Suncloud brand. They're made by Smith, which are great but much more expensive. If anyone is looking for a quality polorized sunglass that goes way beyond the drug store glasses, but not ready to spend over a hundred dollars, I think Sunclouds are about the best you can get. Around 50 dollars. I'm wearing Maui Jim's now, but have never been disappointed by the Sunclouds. Great for driving and general use.
I wear prescription sunglasses 8 - 10 hours a day for work outside and on and around water all day, (salt & fresh). I have tried what seems like all of the big brands (Coasta, Maui Jim, Oakley) and I have stuck with Kaenon since 2004/5. Currently wearing the Burnett XL They are a little expensive when getting the prescription put in, but they are worth every penny. IMO they are the absolute best polarized lens technology on the market.
Just ordered some Maui Jim prescription polarised glasses! Not cheap..: but when you need them for driving they are worth it. Looking forward to picking them up :)
SportRx At first I was thinking why did I spend so much! They literally took the price of the sunglasses and doubled it!! But now I’ve had them a while and been able to use them in the sun, they are amazing, the lenses really enhance the colours as they say and for driving they are great. I would say they can be a little dark sometimes as I went for the grey back tint, but overall really happy. They are incredibly light and comfy too. Good quality also, well they should be for the price. Having now had a pair I would certainly recommend them, but it is a range where you need to try them on to see what fits and what you like as their are a lot of options.
All shades and frames look the same :( Suggestion: You guys should do these videos outside, like in the sun. That would give us a better understanding of the color of the frame, the color of the shades, plus I think, even you guys would be able to give a true explanation on how the polarized lens feel, real time, out in the sun. After all, they’re sun glasses :) Hope you guys consider this.
I was in town for a couple of days and made sure to stop in and was not disappointed! I definitely left with a few bottles and got to chat with their main guy Chad. He was super nice! Thank you for the shout-out!!
Hey Brainstain! We, unfortunately, do not carry William Painter but a few SportRx members wear them around the office. We are hoping to start carrying them soon.
Hi Nenad! Thanks for sharing your experience with us! If you have any specific questions about sizing, contact one of our certified opticians here: www.sportrx.com/contact
Had a pair of Maui Jim Spartan reef for about 2 months now, wow they are so good, I’m a truck driver and they are great for driving, also just got back from peru, really good whilst trekking at high altitude. Pricey but worth every penny.
Hello Ryan! It is hard to depict in video but PRIZM Black has an iridium coating so in the sunlight you will be unable to see the person's eyes through the lens. Please let us know how else we can assist you!
You missed Serengeti. Mineral glass lenses, Polarised, Spectral Control, Photochromic, and Anti Reflective. Possibly the best lenses available, but no mention?
They forgot also "Barberini" the guy that made original lenses for Revo.. the old good one. Now Revo is Sh@t while you can find sunglassses from Barberini. Agree Serengeti is probably the top
Hey Luke! At the time we made this video Serengeti was still not available on our site so we did not want to feature sunglasses someone couldn't buy. However, Serengeti does make an incredible polarized lens and will be on this years best of List. Which Serengeti would you say is your favorite or which one should we feature?
Brian Longenecker got a pair of Revos from 1988, made in the USA, glass lenses. Sweet shades... bought them new in 88 for $299.00... best glasses I ever owned . If you ever come across the vintage Revo’s.. pick them up. Some of the rare ones from the 80’s sale for $500-$800.00.
Hey Jesus! We'd love to help you find the perfect pair of polarized sunglasses with quality lenses. Give us a call at 888-831-5817 or send us a message www.sportrx.com/contact and our certified oticians will be happy to help :)
Ha! Thanks - I like it too! I actually got it from their tasting room in Wyoming. I had the pleasure of visiting them a couple of years back and enjoyed their drink so much I needed to bring something home with me as a memorandum! I had the pleasure of meeting/chatting with Chad, their main man, and he was beyond cordial (perfect word choice). I bet you could have one shipped to you if they're still making it and if you don't have the opportunity to visit them in person. If you're ever in the area, I would recommend you stop by because they make delectable libations! www.backwardsdistilling.com/ Thanks again for the shout out!
Costa Slack Tide style and function was better than expected. Just spent a week at the beach. Fantastic protection and awesome clarity. I have a small to medium face, compliments my face very well. Thanks SportRx for the great service!
Hi there! We carry Ryders too. You bring up a good point about them being less expensive than some of the other sunglasses. You can check them out here: www.sportrx.com/shopby/brand-ryders.html
In all the glasses I've tried, I can always see the refection of my eye and the skin below it. Maui Jim was the only brand I didn't have that issue with, I believe it's because the lenses are polarized on both sides.
Polarized lenses are not always recommended for cycling. This is because although they are great for glare reduction, they have been known to throw off depth perception. All of the sunglasses in this guide (aside from the Flak 2.0 XL) have more of a lifestyle function. If you want sport functionality with this more laid-back look you can always check out the Oakley Targetline www.sportrx.com/oakley-targetline.html Please let us know if you have any additional questions!
Hey l’m looking for glasses that I can wear for driving at night. I fish a lot do a lot of road trip. Driving at night in areas with no street light people tend to have really bright lights. I haven’t seen any review about glasses that we can wear at night for safety driving.
Hi there! The Oakley Holbrook has been very popular. You can check that out here: www.sportrx.com/oakley-holbrook.html OR you can always contact one of our certified opticians for more recommendations: www.sportrx.com/contact
They are a popular frame at SportRx! Make sure to check them out on the website. Let us know if we can help with anything. Thanks for commenting and watching John :) www.sportrx.com/costa-slack-tide.html
Hey Kyle! That is the Matte Tortoise Slack Tide with the 580G Gray Silver mirror lenses. You can check them out here with this link: www.sportrx.com/costa-slack-tide.html
You really can't beat vintage B&L glass lens Raybans. However, in the polarised line... I recently acquired a pair of very serviceable shades from a New Zealand company called Moana Rd. These had a nice amber tint, not too over bearing, and a good polarized laminate lens. With an ingenious silicone coated wooden frame, the design was similar to the wayfarer. Shockingly cheap too.
I understand your point. But in the swamps near sundown , the slightest bit of shading hurts your vision along the banks . It's bad enough to watch for snakes & gators but the shaded polarized glasses makes it almost impossible to see the fish.
For near sundown, the Sunrise Silver mirror from Costa would be a great option. I personally just used this lens for fishing on the lake last week near sundown and it solved the problem you are describing. My Tuna Alley's with the Green mirror was making it hard to see the fish, but when I switched sunglasses to the Sunrise silver I was able to locate the fish with no problem. Here is a link to the review on sunrise silver mirror www.sportrx.com/blog/costa-sunrise-silver-mirror-lens-explained/
I have problem with Randolph AVIATOR C 23K GOLD sunglasses with color issue & notepad broken because of low quality will you review it? Randolph is not co-orating
There are lots of choices out there and most of them are good. Frames vary as do face shapes and personal taste but one thing about glasses stays true. You cannot beat Maui Jim sunglasses for lens quality..clarity and color presentation. You can however buy a perfectly good 9mm pistol for the price I paid for a pair of them only yesterday.
Kaenon Burnet all day everyday. With the ultra tech mixed into their already amazing SR91 lenses, they're the best I've owned. They literally saved my eye years ago. I cannot believe the impact they took without even cracking and the scratch wasn't even that bad. They're basically safety glass. It's nuts Also, they're about as clear as glass, especially with the ultra tech. Their ULTRA brown lenses are now like a mix between their copper and brown but clearer. And they're stylish and not huge like almost every Maui is. Also the frames are durable, look expensive, and don't torque. Lightweight too. Maui Jim Glass is second for me. I won't wear anything else but those two. Costa went downhill and honestly I like the kaenon tech better. Just better lenses imo. Anyone not mentioning them clearly hasn't tried them and is a little biased. I've tried them all. Doubters should be look into independent lab tests. They scored a 40 in the lab resolution test. Anything over that the eye can't differentiate. And they're rated as safety glasses. Always bothers me seeing people not looking into them. Even uiu guys glossed over them a bit. Them and Maui. The best. End of discussion
Hey Nalmargas! We would recommend any pair of Costa sunglasses with their 580 lens technology. Would you look for a pair that can be used on or off the boat? Or were you looking for hardcore fishing sunglasses?
Hello there! The Oakley Holbrook is a classic frame that will never got out of style. This is Oakley's most popular lifestyle sunglass! You can check it out here: www.sportrx.com/oakley-holbrook.html Thanks for reaching out!
Have you guys tested the Wiley x brand against the more expensive brands out there ? I don't think the expensive ones have anything better than other good brands out there... everytime I am wearing my Wiley X, and I compare them to high end models in the mall, I don't see the $$ ones having any difference in clarity.
Yes we do! Which his why Wiley-X made it into this video. They are a great brand and all their glasses are safety rated which means they are incredibly durable. Wiley-X lens clarity is definitely on par with all the other top brands out there. Thanks for commenting!
@@sportrxeyewear oh cool... I watched some and skpped thru.. and looking for wiley x, but missed it.. they are awesome, and I believe they make them polarized, safety rated and Rx in them, if desired.
You guys ever review sunglasses for people with HIGH arch eyebrows ? Some feel the eyebrows should not show , so WHAT options are best for these face styles?
Hey! We would have to recommend Costa or Oakley as the brand. Frame wise we think the Oakley Gascan, Double-Edge, or Turbine would be a good option. From Costa the Reefton, Tuna Alley, or Fantail. I've attached links to all 6 frame so you can check them out on the website :) If you need further recommendations don't hesitate to ask. www.sportrx.com/costa-tuna-alley.html www.sportrx.com/costa-fantail.html www.sportrx.com/costa-reefton.html www.sportrx.com/oakley-gascan.html www.sportrx.com/oakley-turbine.html www.sportrx.com/oakley-double-edge.html
Hey Julian! No, not all polarized sunglasses are shaded. We just happen to pick sunglasses with mirror tints for the video. For example, you can get Costa sunglasses in just a grey or copper tint with no mirror. People will be able to see your eyes but they will still be protected.
Hello! What box are you referring to? There are marketing displays on the table but everything you want to see if visible in the video. Let us know how we can help.
Hey Nick! I grabbed the Rambler from our showroom and it is more of an L fit. If you are looking for Sunclouds with more of an M fit to make sure to contact one of our opticians here www.sportrx.com/contact
Hello David!Polarized sunglasses will be a bit more expensive than sunglasses with non-polarized lenses but you are getting the benefit of glare reduction and better protection for your eyes! If you are looking to hit a certain price point you can always contact one of our certified opticians for frame recommendations: www.sportrx.com/contact
These polarized shades won't break the bank and are very similar to the ones in this video... ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-cKzKqoLU7Tk.html
Hey Parris! Maui Jim had done Rx glass lenses until about 3 months ago. We aren't sure why they stopped but now Costa is the only brand we work with that still makes Rx glass lenses. Thanks for commenting and watching the video :)
I'm a favored client of Sunglass Hut, they sell at list. Though I get perks. Own 3 pairs of Persol's. Typewriters, 2747's blue and tortoise shell and the lt.ed. 714's Steve McQueen folders. Bar none BEST sunglasses in this world.
Those are all great glasses but I gotta just throw out there that I like my nines better then any of my Costas or Oakleys. And they are available in glass lenses like mine.
smith optics dockside whith chroma pop lens.. i'm looking now SMITH OPTICS SERPICO 2 with the same glasses brown chroma-pop..If anyone has to sell or knows where can be bought cheaply let me know please.
Hi Mark! Thanks for reaching out! That's great that you're looking at the Ray-Ban New Wayfarer! To help you out with determining your size, I'd recommend watching our video that compares all 3 New Wayfarer sizes: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-ueedTiggDAo.html As for pricing on Amazon, unfortunately I cannot speak to how they determine their pricing.
I am highly interested in buying a Costa 580 sunglasses, but really confused which color to get. These are just advertised as "Fishermen" sunglasses, but i would be only using them on bright sunny days for outings, hiking, sight seeing, driving & trips around the country. I live in seattle area and most of the days are cloudy and dont require sunglasses all year round. What would you suggest which brand and lense color should i get? P.S. - I am little sensitive to bright light.
Hey Rohini! While Costa is known as a fishing brand they have been branching out with more lifestyle sunglasses which we are excited about. For me personally, I use my Costa Slack Tide sunglasses for a lot of activities you listed because my eyes are sensitive to light as well here in SD. I have found the Gray Silver Mirror and Blue mirror from Costa to be the best at protecting my eyes on super bright days but still providing natural contrast. Both these lens colors have a gray base but different mirror tints (silver and blue). As for frame styles, I'd recommend checking out the Costa Aransas, Apalach, Slack Tide, Rincon, Rinconcito, Half Moon, Spearo, or the Reefton. All of these frames have more of a west coast lens design and not as fishing heavy. If none of these options fit what you are looking for then please let us know and we will find something that does :) www.sportrx.com/costa-aransas.html www.sportrx.com/costa-apalach.html www.sportrx.com/costa-slack-tide.html www.sportrx.com/costa-rincon.html www.sportrx.com/costa-rinconcito.html www.sportrx.com/costa-half-moon.html www.sportrx.com/costa-spearo.html www.sportrx.com/costa-reefton.html
SportRx Awesome, thank you for the suggestion and quick reply. Are you guys going to run any promotions during July 4th? I would love to get some discounts on those Costa sunglasses ☺️🏖
Why do I always see two little dots on polarized lens? I have ray Ban Justin and some champion glasses from target and they both them. Even tried some cheap polarized ones at kohl's and they both had them. Can only see them in the glare though.
Hi there! Here are our popular metal frames with polarized lenses: www.sportrx.com/shopby/frame_materials-metal/frames_for-male/lens_features-polarized/product_type-sunglasses.html?show_full_attribute=1. Thanks for reaching out!
The benefits of glass are that it has better optics than polycarbonate and it is scratch resistant. Polycarbonate lenses are highly impact resistant and more lightweight than glass lenses. Hope this helps!
I suppose Persol with their polarised true glass, handmade quality acetate, iconic legacy and designs is a brand way too much above the sunglasses shown in this video to be included.
