People like trying different things. All people of different ethnicities eat different things in general. Asian food is not a trend outside of California unless you count Chinese takeout and Sushi. Are Italians bitching about people eating pasta or Mexicans complaining about people eating tacos? Jussayin. This isn’t Twitter, you can’t turn positive things into something you dislike to just to feel like a victim.

As a filipino who lives in the Philippines, I suggest you guys to get into sisig. It's probably one of the most original filipino food without other asian influences like lumpia.

I feel like half of the foods that were mentioned that are "trending" have always just been foods that Asians eat. For example, pho? ramen? pad thai? bahn mi? If you ask me, those are things that most Asians grew up eating already.

people think that Filipino food is only limited to 'adobo', 'sisig' and 'lumpia'. yo guys should try menudo, sinigang na hipon, hamonado, embutido, etc. there's a lot of traditional filipino food out here. come and visit. haha!

How interesting that New Yorkers refer to boba as "bubble tea". I'm from the West, and I've almost never heard people say this. We usually just say "boba". haha. As for the instagramming of foods... I do it b/c I want to remember all the cool, unique foods that I eat. If a food looks good, it just adds to the experience, even if it's disappointing taste-wise. haha. Also, I totally agree that there is so much hype with sushiritos. It's really not that great imo. Flavor not really there. It's just the novelty of it that makes it cool.

Next food trend might be Asian-Western or Latin fusion (which I really don’t approve). Or it might be steamed buns etc And about Instagramable food- it’s definitely just a marketing in order to catch the attention and maintain the competition

The next asian food trend might be vegan variations of dishes or vegan fusion versions of asian dishes. I'm not only saying this because I eat vegan but I think plant based diets are on a trend right now and we may see more variations of these.

No, they are different. As a filipino, i personally like vietnamese better. Probably only because i grew up eating lumpia, so its nothing special.

lumpia almost always has meat in it, has carrots, potatoes and is fried.

The filling is the main difference. Lumpia is all about pork. (sometimes pork and shrimp) Nobody's eating lumpia because the vegetables in it taste good. We also dip in either sweet chili sauce or ketchup. They're usually skinnier so that the pork cooks through before the wrapper burns.

Pho may be a little overhyped. It's good but it's just not that special to be honest (at least 90 per cent of the time). One of my former colleagues actually has a food truck in Hamburg called the rice ninja and his stuff is the bomb. It's basically rice burgers and I don't know what he is doing in terms of spices but it's freaking good, especially with wasabi fries. Vietnamese is really big here too but there aren't a lot of good alternatives either in Hamburg.
