If I was to video my self doing this it would have been a 3 minute video 😂 talented man making a 25 minute video that’s actually entertaining to watch putting on the clutch lever
Jake was a big part of my life at 14-15 and so on. I watched every video, showed my dad how cool supermotos were, finally got my own dual sport at 15 a crf230l, then Jake released a video of him riding one! I was so pumped. Much love for Jake, glad to see he’s still doing well and happy, as he brought me much happiness and hours of enjoyment growing up.
Its amazing. I tried going with a few different replacement levers instead, but nothing like this RSC perch/lever. Worth every penny and it doesn't matter what you're doing it just makes clutch work much more enjoyable
I just got back from riding. I installed the RSC lever and G2 throttle tamer on my KDX220 that I'm using to learn how to ride. Wow, makes the bike controllable for me and makes clutch control fun. I would have ordered 2 of these levers had I known what I know now.
Jake always makes fun of his artwork but that was actually a really good representation of RSC vs Stock. But yeah, I've had RSC on my bikes for years and can't recommend them enough. Such a huge improvement
Thanks for the info about bypassing the clutch-lever switch on newer bikes. I've been doing it for years and I would continue to have done it without thinking twice had I not seen this.
Jake, you’re exactly right. This lever is not just for stunt riders. I recently setup my CRF450RL for single track with a Rekluse auto clutch. The Rekluse works great but the feel at the lever was a little too stiff for my tastes. I installed the RSC lever with easy pull and love it. Rekluse and RSC is a match made in heaven. The bike is now an off-road beast.
Yep. I ride a KTM 640 Adventure, geared up about 6% from stock to reduce RPMs on the highway. It has a Magura hydraulic clutch -- I didn't see an RSC lever for that application, but Midwest Mountain Engineering makes one that reduces lever effort by about 50% and roughly doubles the clutch engagement zone. Makes it a lot easier to ride low-speed single-track on a bike that's almost twice as big as a typical dirt bike and is geared about 50% higher than a typical big-bore enduro bike.
This is already my favorite bike you ever owned .. only the DRZ and the Pig were close. I just love the idea of this, not overly big but a true lightweight, reliable riders bike.
just got my gold two finger boneless rsc installed. followed all the instructions and it worked out perf 🤙 i removed the front fender to help with realigning all the holes on the headlight during the reinstallation and that helped its just apita screwing the bolts in and out for the fender 😅
omg the timing with you posting this video is insane. just got my rsc yesterday and i walked over to my 18 wr450 and realized it has that clutch switch and went oh shit. also learned why it’s nearly impossible for me to find neutral. thanks so much man keep the content coming
Lol try blimping the throttle while trying to get into neutral. I got 2018 KTM 500 and it's impossible to find neutral if it's running and your at a stop. But blimp the throttle and neutral is there every time
I know this is an old comment but did you tie the two wires together on the switch? Any fuel mapping issues like Jake mentioned in this vid? I have the same exact bike. Thanks!!
I've watched a handful of your videos and Tanners videos too. You guys have sold me on the 300 L. You do everything that anybody would want to do to this bike and I'm glad to have the amount of detail that you show in your videos especially with the mods. Well earned sub, probably see you in discord.
Sitting on my panigale, watching this video through my sena on my shoei...I think, "I trust everything Jake says. He know how to put screws back into plastic!"
12:00 since you've already got it taken down that far, it would be incredibly easy to go to radio shack... i mean, um, ordering from amazon... a switch of some sort, and making a hole for it. then you could use it as a bypass only when needed, like you do on the M-T7.
Damn the RU-vid denial program. I thought you quit making vids. RU-vid only tells me about stupid COVID crap and race wars. Zero notifications from my actual interests. Glad to see you back, even though you probably didn't go anywhere.
I picked up a RSC for my drz years ago based on an older video you made. I couldn't get it adjusted so it would work correctly, it kept slipping in higher gears. I ended up throwing the stock lever and perch back on, but kept the RSC in storage. Saw this vid and immediately ordered the spacer. There's still hope! I'll give it another go with the spacer.
YES GET THE SPACER! Most bikes I've used the RSC on need it. My FZ doesn't run it and honestly I should. The clutch does drag just slightly all the way pulled in.
On my first motorcycle, I had an extremely hard time learning the clutch and nearly gave up on motorcycling. I was constantly stalling and was very uncomfortable stopping and starting. The bike had a bad on/off clutch with a narrow friction zone. (which I didn't know, and I later found out it had a carburetor issue, which also didn't help) I was so close to selling the bike, it was so clean and perfect, it had to just be me right? Well, I decided to replace the clutch lever and perch to try and make up for my lack of skill, knowing it wasn't a good strategy, and OMG as a noobie it made a massive difference. I could actually ride the bike now. I started enjoying the experience instead of dreading every stopsign and stoplight. It was the one thing that made me keep riding and now I'm on my 6th bike. Interpret the story as you wish, but in regards to replacing the lever and perch, it can absolutely make a big difference in providing more clutch control.
Hey I’ve got a hydraulic clutch in my new to me ‘14 dorsoduro but I’m still watching this. Got a new sedici helmet but I’m saving for some akras 😁 Hell it’s parked next to my 1997 klr so I’m definitely not *too* pretentious.
i got the amazon stunt levers for my 1980 cb650c honda .i will watch my cables for that problem. looked like a bxd vid with all the piss matts all over the place. thanks man.
Sometimes I think about lubing my clutch, then I remember I'm better than that, with my expensive hydraulic clutched Husqvarna with my showy helmet and akraportivischik exhaost.
@@TheGardenSnake how can i get the blue and red clutch lever and prech i only see full color red or blue how can i get the mix color like in the video can you link plz . and also a front break color red or blue
jake *cuddle face* my fav garden snake UwU hey got a question. is there something i can buy that i can just easily plug the 2 pins into that connects them? essentially, something like a double female connector" if so what're they called and how do you get them? im super stoked you still post. CDS, hermit dont anymore and im still riding the trusty DRZ!
Dude, you're funny as hell, I don't have one of these weenie bikes but I love watching your content due to the humor, keep it up. P.S. I ride the CRF450RL, had one of the 250 Ralley's but way too slow and the stock suspension was hideous
Bought one because of your earlier reviews of the lever. As much as I wanted it to work, it just made the clutch slip. Cool lever but I couldn't get it to work. Spacer or not. Went back to stock and it engaged/disengaged properly.
I wonder if there's a way to get a matching set for the front brake side. Having the different colors and levers would drive my OCD into another dimension. I'm not as bad as Monk but almost.
Stupid question but would it not be easier for the RSC to come with a solenoid or a physical switch for this sort of thing? It would cost them next to nothing and would give full stock functionality. I also wonder how difficult it would be to fabricate something like that yourself, but I don't have an RSC lever to try it out on account of being a poor boi. Either way, seems like a weird and annoying omission to me especially considering the price.
Just wondering if this could be a solution to a problem I am having on my Moto Guzzi V7, the clutch on that has a Goldilocks sweet spot for not slipping and still being able to get into neutral... currently, I can't get it to not slip if I want to be able to select neutral, or I can't get it to go into neutral if it doesn't slip via the adjustment on the cable with the standard lever/perch
I have the same problem at 4:50 min, where my bike doesn't start if it is in gear. I put the 2 wires together and do nothing, but if put the 2 wires together against the handle bar, it works, bike stars on any gear. Would you happen to know why that is?. Thanks
Hi I'm kind of new to bikes and I have an FZ07; I just bought an RSC lever and listening to you I'm not sure how to do with the clutch lever switch but I understand that if you don't things correctly you can cause some serious damage to the engine. So........how should I do with my clutch sensors with the FZ07?
Would you be able to remove the two wires from the connector block using a connector pin removal tool and pull them entirely out of the sleeve? You might not even have to cut the connectors at the lever end. Great point on lubing the cable while everything is out there in the open!
hey jake, i have a question, do you do the recomended 'maintenence' on the levers like rsc reccomends on their site? if so/not is it highly noticeable performance/lifespan wise?
Just ordered a rsc but lever friction zone doesn't even matter b/c I have a rekluse clutch. Although I still use the clutch for take off and shifting out of habbit.
Hey Jake. So I'm thinking about buying this clutch lever for my honda crf300l. Is it necessary to mess with the electric wiring to install this lever? I want to buy the lever and have a mechanic install it
Im trying to put a RSC lever and perch on my 2022 yz250 and i can only seem to get the cable to go into the top pull option i have the dirt bike cable spacer as well but doesnt seem like theres any use foe it. Got any tips?
how did you get the brake clutch bule and red handled bar ..? i only see blue full color not the mix blue and red? like in the video link plz thanks and where can i get a front break handlebar red or blue
Does the perch cap with the mirror thread fit on the back of the rsc perch? was always curious to get this clutch but I like my stock mirrors on my 250l
Probably will pick one up for my R1 next month, been saving the tab since last time you promoted it(but kinda forgot about it). Only thing that bugs me, is that they dont have one which you can adjust the lever on.
@@Risdal123 I've got a zeta clutch lever and it's adjustable, I do a lot of slow speed enduro stuff so it's nice to get set at the perfect distance. 1 finger pull too for jumping logs and shit, not like that matters on an R1. A little pricy but running 3 years strong now. Worth looking at. Nothing against the rsc, just adding an option.
@@streetrider11 I just changed the clutch assembly, so my forearm got alittle sore on my yearly long distance trip. Because of the new springs I guess. I’ll check them out too, thanks!
When I can get my hands of those parts. New model, not a lot out there yet. Dyno Jet is sending me a power commander, as soon as they make one. Revzilla is sending a full yosh as soon as they're available. It's not been easy.
Hey jake, wondering how you got so many sponsors?? Did you reach out to them or them to you? clearly not your first build, but some of my friends get their jeeps or wrx's sponsored without any previous builds and barely any money put into aftermarket stuff. help me get free parts!!!
@@TheGardenSnake that’s on my Grom and it would raise the idle when I just had it unplugged and pulled in the clutch coming to a stop. I put the fuse on it and it went back to normal
very good contribution, please put subtitles in Spanish so that we can understand your explanations, muy buen, por favor pon subtítulos en español para que podamos entenderte
Not better than a magura or brembo hydro clutch ;) just bleed like you do your brakes (far less often though) and never have to adjust it. 1/4in bit point every time. Best lever set up ever, change my mind.
