My personal favorite so far has been the Victorinox Manager. The Rambler’s selection of tools is mostly the parts of the Minichamp I need, without stuff (like the cuticle pusher and ruler) that I just don’t use, and with a reduced price to match the pared-down toolset. The addition of the pen in place of the toothpick that the Manager adds back in is super useful to me though. Never being without a writing utensil is great
Same, but I have a Rambler with a Firefly Ferro-rod in place of the toothpick. I have never used it. I have never used the toothpick either (1. gross, 2. you have a knife, just cut a twig for a toothpick, duh) I have tested a firefly and it actually worked to start a fire if adverse conditions exist, so it is kinda just there as an emergency backup on person, despite the very, very remote chance of ever having to use it. As for the pen, I have a minimalist pen in my wallet that is much better than the pen you would get with the Manager and in my wallet makes sense as it is a part of a different system/state, but modular as a whole. I like that pen a lot and it works well in the wallet as opposed to on the keychain with multiple other steps to make the pen useful and not annoying with your keys attached to it.
Manager is probably the best small victorinox, it has all the useful tools from minichamp. Also gerber dime, for the price is a pretty good tool. Leatherman doesn’t make squirts anymore anyway, I do have one, pliers are excellent but the scissors spring has snapped (common issue).
Okay, I have owned a (multiple) Gerber Dime since they came out in 2012, and I just learned in your video that they have tweezers. I can't believe I have owned them for over a decade and never knew.
Surprised the Leatherman Micra isn't included. I'm on my 4th pair I love them that much. 4th pair because they are so easy to carry that I forget I have them in my pocket and wind up donating them to TSA.
Yeah, Micra is hands down Leatherman’s most useful keychain sized tool. Those scissors are great, and the only thing that’s a little bit hokey about it are those tweezers.
I carried a leatherman supertool 300 for years but eventually lost it (and managed to break one of the drivers). Have carried a dedicated knife and a gerber dime for a few years since. It just works. Have taken bed frames apart with the dime's pliers, had to resharpen blade and box opener, opened many bottles, and occasionally used the drivers. Those tweezers are the best part though. They save you when you need it.
As an electrician that does strictly remodels this is an absolute essential tool. ru-vid.comUgkx0vyBwjtx9GGOuiqUVT2sRoYqmDoNT_RI Being able to precision cut any material with a light weight tool is priceless.I upgraded to this Dewalt 20v from a competitor's 12v. The Dewalt 20v is just as light as the competitor's 12v. I am extremely pleased with the overall performance and battery life of this tool. As far as oscillators go, they just aren't very ergonomic tools. The dewalt oscillators have an offset handle that do make them somewhat more ergonomic than the competitors' oscillators.
Nicely shot video with some good information for new buyers. Me personally I am a vic minichamp person as I keep breaking the dinky pliers on most multitools so just carry a knipex cobra XS which is incredibly strong for its size, along with the vic.
Nice! I'm pretty much only carrying the Knipex Cobra XS, combined with other folders and/or SAKs. Last couple of weeks it's the Cobra in a leather slip (a case for ipod nano lol) in front right pocket, where I have a Spyderco Urban clipped next to that, and a Swisschamp in my 5th pocket! This was after trying out various bit drivers in my 5th pocket with those 2 but I had to add a small SAK anyway - normally the moneyclip also clipped next to the Spydie - plus the driver took up most of that pocket anyway so I just went for the Champ, it has 5 drivers but it's the inline Phillips which is it's major advantage, plus obviously good scissors. Having said that for a more slimmed down carry I'm looking to buy a Minichamp Alox and carry that as an alternative to the Swisschamp. Other pairings with Knipex are Climber and Farmer X. All of those combos serve me better than a full size multitool, or mini multitool plus a folder.
Got the all-black Gerber Dime on my keys, alongside a RovyVon A1 torch. My 5th pocket of my jeans has the Victorinox Midnite Manager. Basically the Rambler on steroids (with a small LED and slide out pen). Absolute game-changers for micro EDC.
@@StraightForwardReviews it patina’s fairly fast but I kind of like the silver scrape marks through the black. Kind of starts to look like Boba Fetts armour after a few months. That said, it might be completely chrome in 10 years time 😂
@@StraightForwardReviews it doesn't take long for it to start to look a little worn. Maybe a few months if it's stored alongside other metal such as keys. I kind of like it though. Sort of like Boba Fett's armour or something. Tells a story. Wether it'll still have black on it in 10 years is another question. Might be stripped down to crome haha. I have seen a few '10 year' reviews of the Dime on here though. Go check em out!
I carry a Victorinox Rambler every day and it has now become my go-to. The reason is, I don't want a big form factor or weight, and I have other things I can carry that make a modular system that works well. If I need to I would carry a primary knife and the little knife on a small Vic is not great, but not useless as a backup knife. I keep a Mora and Knipex pliers in my car, usually fairly close to my location, so don't feel the need to carry pliers. I kind of feel that the modular and steps of availability system works well where on person you can minimalize and carry less and what is more immediate use and keep close by more useful and heavier/bulkier tools. You can generally get to your vehicle nearby if you need to.
Solid video! I normally carry a Surge as my EDC but when I’m in gym clothes this pen version of the mini champ is my go to. I don’t like pliers based tool at this size and the mini champ has the perfect tool set for my needs.
Do you carry Surge in your pocket? I just purchased Surge 2 month ago. It is very strong tool, but so bulky. I understand- I do not want to carry it every day. I have Victorinox Handyman on EDC, but it is a little bulky for me, too. Now I am searching keychain tool for me and for birthday gift.
First vidéo and very good job Difficult to beat sak scissors 😉 In summer when wearing a short Benchmade bug out the ps4 and a aaa flashlight is a great combo
First video, and you did great. One take, clear voice, good job! Starting out is tough, I just started about 2 months ago. Keep with it, and the views will come.
The Gerber Dime is a fine set of pliers. If you spend a lot of time around friends drinking European beer, this is the perfect tool to hang on your belt loop.
Can't speak on the others but I have the Dime. Great little tool for minimal cost. The scissors are pretty decent especially if you press your thumb a little off center that causes the blades to push against each other as they close down on what your cutting. Love the package opener also a good box cutter. Flathead driver is decent, also better as prybar than bottle opener. Bottle opener works well, also good as attachment point for lanyard or key ring, better than the designated attachment point. The tiny key ring stretches and deforms over time, so I attached a regular size keyring to the bottle opener and put a small caribiner clip on it so I can hook it to my belt loop. The knife is pretty decent, mine came pretty sharp, but I wouldn't use it for anything heavy duty. I use my Griptilian I have to cut thick rope or zip ties at work, but the Dime blade comes in real handy for smaller precision cuts, almost like an Xacto blade. Pliers are decent for small jobs like untieing knots or pulling out splinters, in fact, the precision at the tip is so good, I never really need the tweezers lol. Just don't squeeze them too hard on something or the handle will slip at the pivot point the opposite direction it folds. Luckily I was able to force it back to the right position and it still works. The Philips driver is decent but, as mentioned in the video, the file is a joke lol. Over all great little tool I've used almost every day for over 5 or 6 years. The color is faded and worn but still works great.
My priority for a keychain EDC is lightness. I carry a Victorinox Rally plus I had my key redone in polymer so the whole thing weights about 30g (barely over 1 oz) It has small blade, flat and philips screwdriver, bottle opener, nailfile, tweezers and toothpick. If I need something sturdier I usually have a bigger Victorinox on my bag, or my CKRT CEO on a pocket or clipped to my bag strap if I have no pockets available
if youre going with the victorinox..which you always should as an additional pocket tool, then get the midnight manager and get the additional led light, and replace the tweezers with a victorinox glow in the dark ferro rod insert
The choice in the 58 mm Victorinox is large. Possibly the best are the Rambler which adds the multi-tool Philips screw driver to the Classic SD (knife, file and scissors). It retains the slots for tweeters and toothpick. The Midnite Manager that has the small ball point and :LED torch in the scales. The tweeters and toothpick can be purchased separately and a simple case sown up to hold them and protect the knife. I added a pin as well. The mini champ has more than one tool included that few if anyone would use. Going up in size to a 74mm the Ambassador gives a larger blade, scissors and nail file and adds the "orange peeler" with the flat head screw driver.
The Victorinox Manager is the ultimate mini pocket multitool, covers most of the daily needs. Then PS4 squirt if you have are in need of pliers even if its small. I use them both.
the leatherman squirt is the perfect mini multitool. i have a p4 and s4 (pliers and scissors edition respectively), i want to get a ps4 off ebay to complete the collection.
You know, this reminds me of a time... me and Dean went to Pier 39 and we got a couple of "tools" we used later that night. I don't think we could review them, I'll tell ya that much! Anyway, fly mee to the moooon!
I carry the victorinox midnite manager and the Leatherman style ps is in the mail for pliers. If I could combine the tools in the victorinox with some pliers, that'd be ideal. Those scissors, Phillips driver and pen really set it apart imo. Also wish Leatherman made a pliers-only squirt at a lower price point and more compact or something like that existed. Hope everyone finds that perfect carry for them! 🙏✌️
The midnite manager or Rambler or Minichamp are complemented perfectly by the Knipex Cobra XS which are way more robust and the capability to be used as an adjustable wrench and even an indestructible pry bar, and at least where I am they cost a lot less than the Style PS. As it is I carry the Cobra with a Swisschamp, but for summer carry I'm looking to switch to a Minichamp Alox. Done with keychain pliers multitools since the scissor spring on my Squirt broke. Plus the Cobra XS will outperform even a full sized multitool as far as pliers are concerned.
@@StraightForwardReviews They would be microscopic though! Even the ones on the 91mm like on your Deluxe Tinker are fairly small and limited in application although they are imo better than the ones on Dime/Squirt/Mini Flagship as you have more reach and lateral leverage - but you can't torque or twist on them , but neither should you do that on folding multitool pliers which are only ever as strong as the pivots joining the head to the handles. Try Knipex Cobra XS. I even carry mine together with my Swisschamp and a folder. With those 3 I can pretty much do anything.
The Victorinox Rambler is the queen. All the tools you actually need, and none of the ones you don't actually need. Since I always carry at least three pens with me wherever I go, two fountain pens and a Fisher Bullet Space Pen as an emergency backup, I prefer the Rambler to the Manager. But, I don't carry my Rambler on my keychain, because I find it awkward to use tools attached to a keychain. I keep a separate tiny pouch in my handbag for my EDC "survival" toolkit. Rambler, flashlight, Space Pen, mini Bic lighter, and a few other bits and bobs that a woman should always have available. I own a Squirt E4, but I don't carry it. It stays in my audio toolbox, for when I have a gig as a sound engineer. Years and years ago, I had a Midnite MiniChamp II, but the truth is, I never used the extra tools. My EDC flashlight has a red auxiliary LED, so I don't miss that.
I also always carry a small General 6" stainless steel ruler/straightedge in my Filofax personal organizer, for making drawings or taking precise measurements on the go.
Thank you for your reply, I’ve tried to get rid of the keychain bulk by reducing the amount of keys I’m carrying. At this point in time I could probably get away with carrying a 91mm SAK.
This is it. Rambler works well because it is what you want on a keychain, the other "add on" tools like pliers and can-opener, etc, you are better off having as stand-alone tools, not multi-tool on your key chain if you really want or need them. Also, the Rambler layout is ideal because it puts the blade and the scissors in the primary location away from the key ring as opposed to the classic (manager as well, which is great if you don't already have a better pen you carry).
I often carry both a Minichamp and a Leatherman PS4 and actually had both of them with me in my chair while watching. I used tp carry the Leatherman ES4 which is the same as the PS4 but changes from standard plyers for Electricians plyers which has various wirestrippers and a very tiny plyer end for bending wires. I would agree that the Minichamp with the pen is the best choice out of what you have here but for the average person I agree that that the Manager is probably the best solution. If they would add the clamshell package opener to it it would be damn near perfect. My only gripe about the Manager and Classic SD is the screwdriver added to the file instead the nail cleaner which is what they still have on the minichamp because they moved the "SD" end too the ruler. As for an "Orange Peeler" it is a separate tool found only on the Victorinox 74mm Executive that was retired a few years ago. Which is a shame cause a lot of people liked them. I actually have 3, 1 user and 2 spares since they dont make them anymore(you can still get them on the secondary market sometimes). They have one of the best Nail file/cleaners Victorinox makes. Very nice review!
@@StraightForwardReviews I understand that. It's nice to have the pen. I used the one on my Minichamp the other day. I can't remember if you can get custom scales with a pen for the exec or not.
great video. i have most of these minus the minichamp and next, i have a midnite minichamp and prefer that as it has a good led momentary light and a replaceable pen in the scales instead of a tooth pick and tweezers. I also have a specialty micro tool, the leatherman es4 which is great. personally i vote for the midnite minichamp as the best. at that size the pliers on leathermans and others are okay but not really practical in some situations.
I thought the same way until my coworker needed pliers since her boyfriends fishing hook was dug into her car seat, we need a Minichamp with the scoop, second blade and ruler to be replaced by a small plier set
I've had a rambler on my keychain for over 20 years. Nothing has made me want to change, yet, but after some of the comments and this vid, I'm checking out the manager with the pen over the toothpick.
you forgot the midnight manager, which adds a small whilte LED light. It's great if you just need a little extra light to read something in a dim room or under a desk.
11:00 The most used tool on ANY multi-tool, large or small, I own. This is what made this Gerber Dime worth it for me when you also consider it's small size & lower cost than the Squirt. Yes, I do use the pliers a lot, but this package opener has saved my fingers from all those ridiculous clamshell boobytrap packages. The file tool on the Dime is worthless in my opinion, which is one of my fave to use on my Victorinox Classic that I also carry. The scissors I also thought was worthless compared to the tiny Victorinox Classic SD, UNTIL I was told that it works better in a left-handed use and, hallelujah, yes it is a lot better when using the left-hand because of where it's placed and I use it for thicker paper or cords to save the blade of my Vix Classic. The blade on the Dime is fine for me, less of a stabber than Leatherman or The Victorinox, but better for actually cutting rope, or thicker things because of the belly it has & it came sharp. I carry at times either the Dime or the Vix Classic in the change pocket in my jeans with a tiny keychain flashlight & it covers 95% of the daily tasks that come up everyday.
Got a dime for almost 10 years on my keychain Love it Only bad thing about it is that it doesn't have a pocket clip That's the only reason why i just ordered a sog powerpint. But i really love my dime, and it's not going nowhere
This might sound silly, but the best tool for a keychain is a tiny flashlight. I use a Nitecore TIKI. I've never had to use a multitool to help me open the gate/door when I come home at night. So if my multitool doesn't have to be with my keys, I can just get a good regular sized multitool. Tiny multitools usually suck, as the video has pretty much demonstrated.
I have the Gerber Dime. It's quite fragile and it's disappointing having to be so careful with a multitool. Nonetheless, it's very versatile. I have mixed feelings about it.
Thank you for your opinion! I am searching a keychain multitool for present. I just looked for Minichamp, Leatherman and Dime. Now I will search for Victorinox and Leatherma
I have a PS4. However, I would like to find a way to swap the scissors and add the victorinox screwdriver/bottle opener, perhaps the combitool version with can opener into the squirt, and add scale tools. I wonder if Goat tools will make a mini multitool one day,
Just chuck the Squirt in the bin, and buy a Rambler (or Alox Minichamp for more durability) and add Knipex Cobra XS. Way better than the Squirt. Actually I was joking about chucking it in the bin, if the scissors spring broke send it in under warranty and get a Micra sent back.
Howdy, good review, wish the Leatherman wasn't "discontinued" and now overpriced The nextool mini sailor is imo better than the mini pro in my experience Roxon has some great (Chinese company) mini style multitools too that also come with bit adapters
I prefer to minimize the weight and bulk of my key chain. I tried the Leatherman Squirt, and while it's a quality multitool for me, it's just too big. Just my preference. Same with the Mini Champ. I settled on a Victorinox Classic SD in Alox. Nice and small. Just a knife, scissors, and file/screwdriver.
For me the perfect keychain tool is the Vic Manager for urban tasks or the PS4 for rougher tasks. But the ideal EDC multitool are the slightly bigger versions: The Vic Compact for urban EDC or the SOG PowerPint for everything else. Still very small but much more powerful (especially the gear assisted pliers on the SOG and the scissors on the Vic).
Decent review, thanks. My blade and now the file has broken on my squirt that I've had for a few years now ( yes I was trying to use them for the wrong purpose! ). It was a great keyring tool and the pliers were really useful. Based in the UK I can't seem to buy a replacement. I'm not sure if it's been discontinued or just a stock issue...Anyways thanks for posting.
@@StraightForwardReviews back stock of the Squirt is now sold out. It sold out while it was in my cart last month. Love the Alox Minichamp but the Vic Manager is my favorite to keep on a keychain and it has also been discontinued.
Bad luck mate! It's discontinued. Whitby Knives are the official UK LM dealership to whom you send broken tools under warranty, I checked with them and they confirmed that if I send mine in - the scissors spring on it broke - they can't replace it, instead I would get a Micra back. I may do it even though I'm not too impressed with the Micra either but I suppose it would make a cool combo together with my LM Bond which lacks scissors. Honestly I would recommend trying out the Knipex Cobra XS pliers, about £23 here. They are demonstrably better than the pliers on any mutitool even larger ones, unless you want to cut wire. You can pair them up with a small SAK, medium SAK with toolset of your choice, or with a folder and separate gear like bit driver, heck I even carry mine with the Swisschamp and a Spyderco for a UK legal config that will outperform any Leatherman, let alone the Squirt lol. It works as an adjustable spanner very very well, and also as an indestructible prybar - it's forged, German made, and I think the only way to destroy it is by dropping it in a steel furnace.
@Simon H Thanks. I've ended up resorting back to my old faithful Victorinox pocket knife that has everything that I want - bar pliers and is a bit bigger obviously. Also picked up a SwissTech multitool which is great value IMHO , not UK legal as an EDC but handy to use around the house/ garden etc.
@@photopete7903 Mine is fine. Nextool are both reactive and proactive - you'll find their people in comments threads here on yt - and it looks like they took on board the negative feedback and actually resolved the spring bar issue, which was just down to poor heat treatment on that end of the handle, which incorporates the spring. Whereas Leatherman had the same issue on the Squirt scissors spring and never bothered to fix it for over a decade, instead they discontinued it after realising that this product was making them losses as they had to keep replacing them.
Not on the list is the Victorinox Rambler - like a thinner, lighter, less expensive minichamp with only the actually useful tools on it. It’s my favorite by far. I think there’s a version with a pen instead of toothpick but I can’t remember what it’s called. I use the “toothpick” to clean out the charging port of my phone/scrape lint & gunk, so I find it useful.
The dime is good. I carry the mini champ now. I have designs on taking it apart and making a super minichamp with it. There's a channel called fit to survive. The guy takes the 58 mm swiss army knives apart and put all the best tools from the mini ones together with a spyderco blade and a scalpel blade. I would like to make mine with a scalpel and the squirt blade. The swiss army blades are kinda flimsy. Especially in the 58mm models. But I have the leatherman wave and the sak champ for the harder work.
@@StraightForwardReviews I wanna make his beast. At one point I've had every swiss army there was. The champ was the top for a long time. But I had all the little ones. I always wants one with all the tools. I am in process of making one but I am finding it slips apart before I can get the next layer on and I don't know what to do about it.
@@StraightForwardReviews and I hate spyderco blades but something like that. Even a mini buck blade with a thumb screw. I have a leatherman squirt I took apart. That blade is nice and sturdy.
I can't speak for the squirt because I don't have one, but I suspect they're overpriced now because they're discontinued. I have a dime and I like it BUT my issue is the spring on the knife. It bent when I was using the knife at one point and I was only able to bend it back partially.
Some of the tools in the Victorinox are from an old medical/doctor focused model made a long time ago and discontinued. That’s why there is an odd spoon (for dispensing pills) and the second knife that is actually a scapula. Personally I wish they would have filled the spots with something more practical. I love Victorinox but ended up with the Squirt for my keychain tool for this very reason (impractical added tools).
I can't stand the chisel ground edge that the Leatherman Squirt's blade comes with, so I put a double grind on it myself. My EDC multitools right now are a SOG Powerpint and a Victorinox Manager. My knife rotates sometimes but is usually a Giantmouse Corta. I carry two flashlights, an Olight Baton 3 in a horizontal belt clip and a Rovyvon Aurora A5x with a magnet connected to my keychain.
Started with a Leatherman P4, replaced by the Gen 1 Minichamp, then Midnight Manager. The pliers as a main tool is fine, but with limited bite and torque, I don't know that the weight is justified. MManager has the tool set I use most. 👍
@@StraightForwardReviews I got it used for like $15 on ebay, and it had the older red LED. Technology has advanced so much, that I replaced the cutting-edge 20yo red LED with a white led from a Dollar Tree solar light, and the white light will illuminate maybe 20ft in front of me at night. I like it, but it's a back up back up light source. 👍
@@felinebline7154 Over 125 years of quality, reliability, and design. Aside from the whole Swiss Flame thing, it's hard to go wrong with Victorinox. My Wave sits at home, being too heavy and awkward to use, but over 10 SAKs somewhere in the house. 👍
Too bad Leatherman just discounted the squirt ps4, if you do a warranty repair, they send you a micra with a letter saying sorry, but the squirt is discontinued.
I had the squirt ps4 for a couple of years, wasn’t great, the scissors spring broke not long after I bought it. It also gets rusty quick. I bought the Victorinox mini champ after that, much better tool
Try carrying the Minichamp with Knipex Cobra XS if you want pliers...they outperform even full size Leathermans in every way except for cutting wire if that's your thing.
The Nextool on test here must have been defective and should have been returned. The quality on the one I’ve just received is fine and the tools far superior to for instance the undersized ones of the Leatherman. Scissors are fantastic, the blade very sharp out of the box. Cost £17. Size wise, on the upper limits of reasonable key ring edc but excellent value for money and definitely worth a look imho.
I’ve gone through two, and I’ve tried tightening the screw and sharpening the blades. They’re both defective and hard to recommend for $30. The nextool sailor I received is awesome however.
A Leatherman is a useful tool for non-professional handymen to have at home, in the garage & at the office. I had one at the office in my desk for 30 years till I retired & then I gifted it to my younger replacement & 10 years on he is still using it. I would never dream of pocket or pouch carrying it, because as a Man I carry a mans knife in my pocket & on my keyring for EDC & that means preferably a Swiss Army Knife (either a Victornox or Wenger). My daily carry when I go out always consists of 2 knives:- my default keyring SAK is currently a hybrid Silver Tech scaled Midnite Mini-Champ paired with a larger bladed SAK multi-tool or a large single bladed knife (and not necessarily a SAK as I also carry Bucks, Civivis, Kershaws, Case & Rough Ryder lock blade & flipper knives) When I carry a larger SAK its most likely to be a 91mm Huntsman & if not it will be a 91mm model such as the Compact, Ranger, Huntsman Lite, Explorer or Mountaineer, or a 93mm Alox Pioneer X or Farmer X, an 85mm Wenger S17 or the Victorinox S17 (both are lock blade smaller equivalents of the Huntsman) or a 111mm lock blade SAK such as the Picnicker/Nomad, Forester, Alpiner or Sentinel. I also have in my collection a regular red Mini-Champ & a red scaled Alox Mini-Champ, a red scaled Midnite Mini Champ, several different scaled Midnight Managers as well as an original Mini-Champ version mk.1 which has one less tool layer as well as some other multi-layer discontinued 58mm SAK's that preceded the current Mini-Champ line such as the Mate, the Vagabond, the Rogue & the Cavalier . As for the Gerber & Next Tool I have no experience with them but have only read bad reviews of them vis a vis the Leatherman.
@@StraightForwardReviews You will be pleased to know that I have subscribed to your channel, I am subscriber no:25, wishing you good luck in growing your channel, onward to 1K subscribers! I have a Ranger Grip 79, I bought it on impulse from my local Victorinox dealer when he had it & some other SAK's on sale at a 50% discount a few years ago. I have not actually carried it as I am saving it an emergency situation tool & I've used it just once to test the large wood saws cutting ability, it cuts very well & I practiced opening & closing the one handed blade & button lock. It took me a few minutes to manage to smoothly open & close it one handed. IMO its too big for regular EDC but ideal for carrying in your pack when camping out or a day trip to the forest if you are going to cut up some wood to make a fire & cook some food or make coffee. I don't go camping & its been many years since I've been on a walk in a forest. If you intend to go camping its a good choice as is the 111mm Outrider (I have the pre-2017 model in black with a slide lock in the scales) & if you don't want such a large model in your pocket stick to the 91mm Ranger or the Huntsman
So the Victorinox has a knife, a knife, package opener, a scissor.. I just need 1 knife for all those functions. Then I get a flat-bar? The file, the knife, and the Phillips are the only things worth using on the Victornox. I wish the Gerber dime had a better file and combine the file into a flat-headed driver. Ditch the bottle opener. You can just use the side anyways.
Leatherman Squirt has the best pliers and file, but the scissors are pretty poor, on mine at least, they were poor before the spring broke and now they're barely usable. I think some went out the factory with too much play in the blades. The Minichamp has the best Phillips driver and best scissors but the Nextool gets joint first place too for scissors only. Phillips driver on the Nextool is better than on the Squirt and Dime. But I'm aware that Nextool have had quality control issues and there were a lot of reports of the springs on pliers or scissors breaking, even right out of the box, but I think they've fixed it, I guess with different heat treatment. As to blades, well for many people they're just backup blades and are accompanied by folders. I own the Nextool, the Squirt, and a couple of Victorinox 58mms although not the Minichamp.
@@vvs3796 I bought the Knipex Cobra XS pliers a couple of months ago and that's been in my pocket ever since, instead of carrying the PS4, Nextool, SOG Micro Toolclip, and full sized multitools. I generally carry it with a SAK, Climber for Urban, Farmer X for outdoors adventures; or sometimes with my Spyderco Urban, with the 74mm Vic Moneyclip for back-up people friendly blade and scissors.
My Gerber dime has not held up well. Scissors are sticky and useless, blades aren't sharp, and the driver is useless. The pliers are useful but I don't find myself needing them very often. The mini champ is worth the extra money for my use because of the true Phillips driver which is great for small battery cover screws on toys. Dads with young kids you know what I am talking about
@@StraightForwardReviews not really. It is kind of a way to make sure I know my keys are in my pocket. It is on a quick clip though so I can get it off when I need it.
Carrying a huntsman.... tried the dime for something different... literally put the dime pliers to very light duty tasks and they spilt in half ... victorinox quality isn't there.
