Wow, commodity EFI generators are a big deal. It feels like generators have been frozen in amber for 20 years but all of the competition from power stations to 'generics' is really making the category exciting.

I agree this pushes everyone to step up there game to better more efficient units. This will lead the way for more companies to do the same. 👍🏼

Agree, a plugged injector could be a more complicated fix and more costly if severely plugged. But fuel additives which again I always recommend running in small equipment no water what type of gas, its just a insurance policy really. Because most people will use cheap gas. I do because there is no benefit in buying higher octane in these items, except longer shelf life. But non of my stuff sits long enough. I do hope the EFI system will self adjust for altitude which I would assume it would. The mapping for that is not hard. Although i dont know where sensors would be to see if they are measuring air density and more. May have to dig but it doesn’t need much for basic altitude adjustment. And non ethanol is nice but only a few are willing to spend the money on it. 👍🏼

@@johnnysweekends Yes, for altitude adjustment it needs either air density (good), or exhaust O2 (best), or at least air pressure sensor (okay). That last one can be just on the circuit board so hard to spot.

I'm sure they figured something out with the pullstart and efi. The physical generator of these inverter generators uses permanent magnets and thus doesn't need alot of rpm at all to produce substantial voltage. They probably have a circuit involving capacitors to take full advantage of that, and is able to supply plenty of power for the efi system as soon as you pull the string. It would be a pretty serious flaw with the design if this portable generator became useless just because it's battery died, despite it having a pullstarter on it.

The alp is a cool little generator but not really a comparable model at all as it doesn’t have any of the same features or power. And the range for that unit is in the 300-700 watt range. If your constantly needing more then 700 watts you need to step up to the next size generator. It’s a nice little generator but limited on ability. But also depends what you are doing with it.

1000w max is just too low wattage to be useful for anything but a fridge and a tv.

@Coyote13x Genmax made the 3200 and 3300 MXR. The 3500 looks indentical in every way even though the manufacturer says a different name. I don’t know of any gens that don’t use copper windings now

@@johnnysweekends if they don’t release a dual fuel we can do what you did to the eco flow gas generator, just need to get the part that goes into the carburetor since it looks the same minus the fuel bowl and use the genmax’s propane regulator and disable the fuel pump and injector with a flip of a switch 😂 sounds like a lot of work but it’s doable.

It’s in the plans probably a couple weeks. Ill compare 3500IED dual fuel against this. Same engines but ill have to do a lower load test and see what rpms are to match then see how to calculate fuel. Same size tanks as well. But ill run bone dry and then add same amount of fuel then under same load.

Propane really is nice for fuel storage, but EFI if ran once in a while will have little issues. But if you use a additive like I showed that extends fuel life so that will only help

Some are still in process of mass production or design finishing. The unit I have is a preproduction model. Some minor things have changed since this model. Several pulsar models are made from Genmax. Will just have slightly different features but sometimes they will be the same.

Like any gas powered lawn equipment or small engine items, a fual stabilizer or fuel conditioner like the one I did show is needed to extend the life of the fuel and help neutralize the ethanol. If your running the generator every day, then its not needed. But when storing, even in this new Honda, it says to add a stabilizer. Fuel injection has benefits but its not immune to ethanol in fuel. Non ethanol fuel is a great option but depending where you live it can be double or more the cost.

@@johnnysweekends So if your opinion if you were going to choose from these 2 different GenMax generators and wanted to make sure you could start them year after year when stored (both not out right now but are coming out from what Genmax told me when I emailed them sounds like summer) one Gen Max 4600 IAEFIC 4600 starting/3800 running fuel injection (I would use non ethanol and lucas treatment and try to run fuel out to store each year) and the other one Gen Max (dual fuel) 4600 IAEDC 4200 starting (on propane)/ 3500 running (this one I would use propane only no gas) in your opinion which would you go with my concerns is I want to have no problems starting ever spring and also want to be able to run 15k ac a couple of minor things at higher elevation 8,500 ft elevation ? which would you choose ?

Idk yet, until I test them then will see. One thing with dual fuel is the option to have a option. And no jetting with a carb at altitude. Sure there will probably be a kit for the EFI some day, but when. Also at 8500 feet which is going to be my high altitude test later this year with both the Honda and Genmax EFI will see how well they do. The can compensate for jetting at least that’s what im hoping but they will still be done on power a lot at 8500 feet.

If the GM10500iETC can parallel seems no need the 12kw unit if the price is too high.

That's typically the top reason propane is used for generators, especially stand by generators that tend to sit without being used for long periods of time.

Correct EFI is not dual fuel. Dual is two fuels. Propane or gas and tri fuel would add natural gas. EFI is just how gas is feed to the engine but has nothing to do with LPG or NG

All the Chinese generators share parts. For instance the predator 3500 and powerhouse 4500 are the same generator, except the inverter. Then champion 4500 and wen 3800 same deal. You can get every single part for these if you actually try. But if you are so lazy that you need someone else to Google your parts, buy a Honda or Yamaha.

Yes better battery, and a better board that consumes way less power while not being used. So should make the battery last way longer. Something else I thought they mentioned with the fuel system maybe..🤔 idk. But the battery in the 3500 series is a little weak and doesn’t last to long. So they are upgrading those as well across the line.

You don’t have to run ethanol free if you don’t want to but I always recommend a additive at least. This unit is gas only and not a dual fuel unit. Which it would not make a difference with the injector as it’s just flowing into the carb throat

It's much better to use ethanol free gas. That's all I ever use in my generators that I've had some for over 20 years. I only have Honda Generators that never have failed me. I live in Florida and only need them for power outs during Hurricane. I never store my generators with fuel in them.

Just about anything is a better value than the new Honda. I love Honda generators but the newest is overpriced (even by Honda standards) and underpowered.

Don't be so sure about that until you show me ONE video of a 10 year old Genmax still running like a charm like a Honda.

Even the new Hondas are not lasting. You can find the info. A lot is disappointed people. The 10 year old Hondas were probably the last of the tough units. Will see.

@@johnnysweekends I have 3 Hondas that are a decade old and run like Champs. I do not disagree with your take and enjoy your videos, but few Chinese engines last very long from my experience. Maybe these are different. The best way to see longevity is to look at what the city food trucks are using. They use them DAILY under a load. Keep up the good work!

@chasewells268 my contact never mentioned anything about this unit being tri fuel. i future models we have talked about this but not this. Fuel injection does nothing for LPG or NG anyway.

Yessss, and about 10-12% better on fuel efficiency is what it should see. But hard to test unless you have one carb and one FI to get true results.

Yup you dont want to mess up your rotator cuff repair. Ripping out your anchors leaves a big mess and most times unrepairable. I’ll look into a video with an appropriate charger. Take care of the shoulder

The parallel and series kit if buy two 120v can change to 240v by using the special kit see GM4000iSAPC. The new released has this function.

You can parallel many different generators together. Like a Honda eu3000is with a Honda 2200i or mix and match brand if you want. But yes you can double your voltage, now! Genmax allows you to now parallel to double amps or instead put them in series to double the voltage with there new line coming out soon. You can see this in the video where I went to Vegas to see all the new Genmax generators. So now parallel for double the amps, or series to double your voltage. 👍🏼 This is great and allows for a lot more uses. And yes being able to parallel has been around along time. I have several videos on those different scenarios 😀👍🏼

I always thought it would allow for split phase 240. Wasn't until I went to buy a parallel kit did I realize my mistake.

Yes all generators when paralleled just doubles the amps output. But 120 volt will stay the same. Until now..👍🏼

Late this year ouch, I'm like ready to get the 10500 whenever it comes out but I rather had 12000. You mentioned that on the clip when you were in Vegas. Had my inlets installed few weeks ago, this weekend was planning on gas lines.

Well I talked to the owner and the main engineer and lead manager and they said this 10500 unit and a twin cylinder 12000 watt unit. V-twin I believe but yea I think that is a more end of the year unit. I think its in development.

I was talking with them about this model after I got it about a couple small issues. Which they changed the battery and board to draw way less power when sitting and a better battery now. Yes time will tell. But will capacitors, and stronger gen coils and more it may do just fine. Look at ford and its small eco boost engines. Unfortunately now the term no replacement for displacement is really hitting as they keep going smaller on engines. But they are also adding some sort of forced induction soooo….🤷🏼‍♂️

@@johnnysweekends I understand but even the non EFI model listed on Amazon gets a notice that they cannot be shipped to Calif. I called Amazon this morning and complained, telling them that these newer Genmax models are CARB compliant so they have people looking into this now and in a few days that message should be removed from the approved generators. I also called Genmax and the EFI unit was supposed to be shipped at the end of August so they are expecting any day now.

You should talk with several of the other Honda owners who may disagree. I like Honda as much as the next but they are not bullet proof and definitely do not seem to be build as good as they were 10-15 years ago.

His reviews used to be unbiased and very good...no longer. To say that this thing is in the same league as a Honda is just silly. I've got two EU2200's, and I'll take them over all these new "feature-rich" Chinese offerings any day. I don't need electric start, remote start, dual fuel, blah, blah, blah...I need something that provides every bit of the power it's supposed to, and then some. Show me one of these Chinese generators that will provide it's rated surge capacity for close to 30 minutes...no such animal.

JML I believe I still bring as much factual data as I can. I still like Honda, but honestly the prices are just crazy. People say if your life depended on it you would buy the Honda. Well it’s the same for cars. You want the longest lasting you buy Toyota. No if ands or butts, but not ford or Chevy or another brand is better, Toyota beats them all. But not everyone owns one as they have different needs and circumstances. Theses other units are options. And at the price it’s a great option. Even if it only last half the life span of one Honda, two of these is still cheaper and may exceed the Hondas hours or life span and you still saved money. Oh well you can get parts you say….. well this is true, but are you going to rebuild a Honda with 4500 hrs with new expensive parts and who knows what may go out next to have the engine give at 6k hours…? That’s like dumping $5000 into a car with 275k miles. At some Point it doesn’t make financial sense. These off brand units start like champion did. Some come and some go. Just like Kia. They have really come far and are now starting to offer a 20y 200k warranty!! That’s crazy. Now the early cheap versions were junk but the latest models over the last few years are only doing better. And all at the moment come with a 10y 100k warranty. That’s still pretty crazy and no one offers that. Are they the best, no but doing way better. And that’s what you want to see with any company. And maybe you won’t like my answer but options are always good especially when you can’t justify $2750 for a eu3200i. And people don’t like the fact that Toyota is the most reliable and has one if not the highest resale. Is what it is. Eventually someone will take its place, just like Honda. And Hondas parts are getting harder to get. I can’t even get a inverter board from 3 websites I looked at for my eu3000is. If it goes it’s a paper weight. So I just offed it a couple weeks ago. It was in excellent shape but a very expensive unit to let die if there are no parts. And I get it, older models will have parts slowly die off. Like many older Honda gens the parts are becoming less and less. I mean a Honda eu3000is is still $2500 no wheels and now in todays world. Kinda under powered and not fuel efficient. Hence they were all considered illegal in CA for high CARB emissions and hence they had to pay out millions to CA. They may slowly stop the whole line and be moving to batteries. The eu3200 could be one of there last models in the USA We will see.

If you are liking Honda ( and I do also ) you better buy now, because Honda will no long make small engines after 2023. Competition knows this and are bringing their products into to void that will be created. ( Thanks for posting, love the EFI, this should have happened years ago. )

Yea on a unit this size I think a 12v socket would be more useful. Can always add a12v USB is you wanted with that.

I’ll be playing around with the idea of removing the usb off my Genmax and put a cigarette lighter output, I already have the part just need to install it.

I dont mind carbs at all. Easy to work on and cheap to replace. But not everyone is good with maintenance and obviously carburetors are not nearly as fuel efficient. Plus starting is not as nearly as good. But for simplicity its really nice. I dont know if there newer models are still using Kehin or mikuni carbs still. Hope so. Love Mikuni 👍🏼

And this whole line is getting a more efficient board for when on stand by draw and better battery. I was told about mid summer maybe a little sooner or later. @@johnnysweekends you are right in all points, except longterm reliability which can be crucial also. Re sell ipage, honda is a sure value for anyone and will can be selled as 2nd hand at high price, Parts availabities in 20 years for example? I believe honda will be more strong on this aspect. But globally I think also that Genmax offers better price quality ratio and can prefer it and recommend it.

Well you have to look at it like a car. Do you keep dumping money into a old used car waiting for the next thing to break. Im not going to through a $1000 inverter board into a Honda with 3000+ hours….then the coil goes or a valve or the belt or….? So just depends on how you see it now and where the money is best spent. I still have my Honda eu2200i of course with many others now. Would like the eu3200i but the price and power output is not worth it. And a really small fuel tank.

Well a couple reasons, my meter is getting old and has been dropped a few times and when ever I get to around 63db I will jump to low 70s doesn’t matter then gen just that number makes the db meter erratic

This unit does not have a kit to run on propane. So at the moment no and im not sure it can be converted

Ahh but that is up for debate when you read the whole bill. Only if “feasible” will generators be banned if a capable unit is able to replace it. I assume after all those floods where they broke out the mass amount of 10-15 hp water pumps running for hours on gas along with generators during the black outs, they are not going away. Yet! We will see. I bet just a few more restrictions. But if not go across any boarder and buy a bunch and off them to your buddies 🤷🏼‍♂️

Well you can still use any item you have or you can get. It’s just the stores wont sell them. But you can use them all you want.

I have the 3200 as well. It’s more about price. If I buy two units will they provide more hours of service than the Honda which also is smaller lighter. And overall price is cheaper. Plus if you don’t have the timing belt inspected every 250hrs then I bet your warranty will be void if you don’t have a dealership check it. Which is how they get ya.

Unfortunately it got pushed back. But they have made several changes with it and I have been in talks with some of those. So hopefully we see it in October or very early November
