In this video, I did a comparison shave between the Gillette Silver Blue Blade vs the Gillette Platinum Blade using the New Gillette Heritage Razor. I vote would go to the Gillette Platinum blade. It was much sharper and very smooth. I would recommend this to new and experienced shavers.

I have the Platinum as part of my sampler. Very inspired to give it a try now. The previous shave was the silver blue. Gave me a super close shave, but had irritations.

I just went thru another sample pack of various DE blades, including Astras, Feathers, 7 O'cloks, etc.. and that pack included the Gillette Platinum. I have to honestly say that those blades, Gillette Platinum, gave the best shave overall. Sharp enough, close enough and very comfortable with, across and against the grain. I liked them so much that I got a 100 for Xmas. I usually never get those large packs as I like to keep trying until I find something that really hit the spot... those did it. Of course, everyone has his own type of hair and skin .. so you keep trying until you find something that really works for you... but I do highly recommend these Gillette Platinum.. and they are reasonably priced.. you can get them online for under $12 per 100 blades.

Both the Gillette platinum and silver blue are good blades for me. I also remember my dad watching the Wednesday night fights sponsored by Gillette. If I remember the intro it was the Gillette Cavalcade of Sports. Yep, you guessed it. I’m no youngster. And yes I’d be interested in seeing videos on various blades.

i like this blades too , are nice sharp , not the sharpest but its a good blade, at least in mexico are easy to find and have a decent price

It's so weird your doing a video on this because we were just talking about this on the Facebook group. I've been using the Silver Blues for about a year and love them but never tried the Platinums. I finally got one pack to try out from a friend and going to try it out later on today with my Fatip Grande. I assume they are a little bit sharper yet an excellent blade like Gillette's reputation is known for!

Mike, It will be interesting to see what you think about the Gillette Platinums. I think the worst blade I ever used so far has been the Bic. I tried one and had to send the other 99 back. I am sure there are those out there that love the Bic. That's what so cool about this hobby....

The worst blade , for me, is prob the Derbys , BigBen, dorco, shark, But I have a ton of blades that I love like feather PolSilver Gillette Silver Blue Voskhod persona red, Nacet, Treet Platinum

Good video. I was just gifted a box of 100 of these blades, and I put one in one of my vintage Gillette Super Speed Flare Tip razors last night and got a very nice shave. I have fairly tough skin on my cheeks, jaws and chin, but sensitive skin on my neck, with a very coarse stubble. I get good results with Personna Comfort Coated Blue (USA) Blades and Astra Platinum and 4 to 5 shaves with them. Feather works great on my cheeks, jaws and chin, but are very irritating on my neck. So, I was happy these worked well. However, I shaved with the same blade in the same razor tonight and it did the job but was not very comfortable... it shaved more like the Gillette Silver Blue. The blades were gifted to me so I'm not complaining, but did I just get a bad blade out of the bunch, or is one or two shaves what I can expect with these blades? I try another and hope for better results. Perhaps they'll work better in my King C. Gillette or Heritage? What confusing, the King C. Gillette Blades work fine in those Razors, and it is my belief that the King C Gillette Blades are rebranded Gillette Platinum Blades... perhaps I'm wrong? I try a new blade form the box and see what my results are and try one in a different razor before judging this. Your videos gives me hope. Best regards. Aho kola! ✋

Update: I’ve used used another Gillette Platinum DE Razor Blade in the Safe Gillette Flare Tip Razor and got excited results. So I believe I either got a bad blade in the batch of 100, or I damaged it taking it out of the blade out of the paper wrapper. The blades are excellent and do a fantastic job.
