Update - now you can choose different fund manager for different asset class eg You can choose HDFC for Equity and LIC for Government securities... Just did it !😊
Fabulous and insightful video on NPS... Hats off!! 2 queries Sir: 1. Just out of curiosity wanted to know the effort (work hours) that ETMoney research team has invested in doing this analysis. It will give audience good understanding of the effort and appreciation. 2. Pls share taxation on Tier 2 NPS schemes... Will the taxation be like normal equity mutual funds or varies based on type of Asset class one choose. Thanks again Shankar Sir and ETMoney for this knowledgeable video. 🙏
Thanks. 1. It takes about 35 man hours to make this type of video. 20 hours of research, scripting and fact checking. 1 hour in recording. 14 hours in editing, graphics etc. 2. We are not clear on taxation, prefer if you consult a tax advisor. An article we found on this www.livemint.com/money/personal-finance/how-your-nps-tier-ii-account-withdrawals-are-taxed/amp-11625976662730.html#referrer=www.google.com&csi=0
Thanks a lot for the great content. Although I had a doubt that if we invest 50k in NPS & use some other instrument for 80C, can we claim that 50k under 80CCD (1B) ?
how to start NPS investment? Through fund managers website or we need to go to there office to enquire? Is is possible to invest in NPS in monthly EMI mode like SIP or we need to invest lump sum amount yearly?
Hi ETmoney, Thanks for such a informative video. I've one doubt and it would be great if you could answer it here or make a special video on it as like me many people have the same doubt. so my doubt it - "Many times all says that this investments are helpful to save taxes but how? like to save taxes we need to apply somewhere or anything like it?"
Thank you for very infromative video.. I have one question to ask.. For the Auto choice option, do we have Alernative Investment assest class as an option?
Thanks for the video at the right time. I was looking to open nps account last weekend and it's quite a cumbersome process. Thanks to et money app it looks like it simplified significantly. However I found no step by step guide in opening the account and enabling sip for nps in et money website or et money youtube channel or any other articles or videos from other financial gurus. Though the UI is intuitive I was looking for info like what are all the docs needed to open nps account. I don't have a cheque leaf. Is that okay? Is it possible to create a video for this?
you just need to have your bank account details handy, your Aadhar card, Aadhar number linked with that account you use while opening your NPS account, PAN as birth date proof, passport as permanent address & ID proof, KYC verification of account completed by your bank.
I started the NPS very late due to confusion and lots of ambuigity in the scheme. Can you tell me what's limit to withdraw the entire money from the Corpus ?
U can't withdraw anything before retirement (or age of 60). After that u can withdraw 60% LumSum without any tax and 40% have to be reinvented for monthly pension.
Hi, I have opened NPS - Tier 1 account in 2010. And allocate Equity - 50% / GSec - 25% / Corporate 20% & Other 5%. Since then I never done any rebalancing the schemes. Now as we know Bond Yields are rising, I want to reduce my Equity 50% to 20% & increase GSec to 40 & Corporate to 35 Equity 20% & Others 5%. But I want to know what will be impact on my earlier fund which is in Equity Class? Will it be remain same or it will be all shift to GSec & Corporate? Suppose, I have 4 lakh in Equity till today, will it be shifted to GSec & Corporate or this 4 lakh will remain in Equity & from April 2022 NPS will invest as per my new asset allocation? No body has this answer. Can you please make a video on this? I want my allocation to start from 1st April 2022. Thank you.
This is such a good video. I did homework on same line before selecting HDFC fund manager for my aggressive scheme. Glad to see ET provides such rational approach to viewers. Keep it up!👍🏼
Same. Did my homework & select HDFC.. For total allocation.. can you please let me know why dint you select HDFC / what u selected HDFC for C,G category?
Since government is going to increase interest rates, do you think one should be using the aggressive strategy right now? (Asking as a 27 year old looking to open nps account)
@@KetanNainwal for your age, it is better if you keep 75% in equity (E),10% in G, 15% in C ..i don't have much info. About alternative investments segment (A)
Hey, this was a very informative video, I would like to know more about NPS NSDL VS NPS K FINTECH? I Couldnt find any relevant benefits in NPS NSDL category.
Awesome. Being a subscriber of NPS, this video certainly helps in choosing right pension fund managers. As always, a much useful video and thank you 👌👍🏻
I have PPF account in which I annually deposit 1.5 lakh and planning to open NPS account for both 50k tax benefit but majorly for monthly pension post 60. I am planning to invest 10k per month in NPS annually in addition to 1.5 lak PPF or else should I invest only 50k annually in NPS. So annually if I invest 10k per month in NPS and 1.5 lak in PPF annually it will be investment of 2.7 lak. Please suggest should I stick to 50k only in NPS or else I should invest 10k per month so that I get better pension at 60.
Hi Your videos are very informative. I am a govt employee and NPS subscriber too for the past 17 years. My current scheme preference type is AUTO. Can I change it on my own through the NPS app ? Or I have to submit an application to my office ? What are the other schemes and their features in detail can help the people like me to opt and get maximum benefit (pension) out of it. Kindly guide me in this regard.
Video content very helpful to make more awareness on NPS topic. Specially active, auto investment type as well as fund house selection made easier for audience. Thanks a lot Sir.
your analysis is flawed as past performance is no guarantee for future performance and u fail to showcase the holding breakup of all pension fund managers in each category
If your company follows a CTC structure and if you opt for corporate NPS effectively your taxable salary is reduced. Which indirectly means that you are saving tax on your entire contribution which is over and about 50K Limit.
@@pradyumnas7068 Yes 10% of basic, not sure about DA as it's not part my salary structure, but any way you need contact your companies Finance team to get it deducted at source.
Very informative video sir.... One query sir. 1. I have invested 1Lac to ELSS, 50K to PPF and 47K to NPS Tier 1 (by default) as I am a Central Government Employee. Can I claim 47K u/s 80CCD(1B) to get total benefit of 1.97Lac in this case?
Sir please advise on the taxation of tier 2 redemption...if the subscriber is having more than 65% of corpus in equity then whether capital gain will be applicable so as for equity taxation???
Hi. Apologies, we are a little confused on this ourselves. You might want to consult a tax advisor. Pls also read this www.livemint.com/money/personal-finance/how-your-nps-tier-ii-account-withdrawals-are-taxed-11625976662730.html
Your videos are awesome. Just one query: 1. Why government employees are not allowed to invest in aggressive cycle in auto mode ? And in active mode only 100% government securities is allowed.
@@ETMONEY I am confused. What is the difference between opening NPS account in NPS portal and ET money. Do I get all same option in ET money portal like switching fund manager and Auto / Active manager switching.
I would like to know if i can change the fund manager. say for suppose i have opted Kotak as my fund manager for the past 5 years, now can i change the fund manager to HDFC? Please let me know the procedure.
Very informative video. A few queries, (1) Can we change the fund manager & if so how often. (2) In T2 whether tax is applicable on liquidation only, (3) In T1 what is the rate of annuity after age 60+ (4) Like PPF is it mandatory to deposit at least some min. amount in T2 every year
Are funds transferred from tier 2 account to tier 1 account through one way switch eligible for tax benefits under 80CCD (1B)? I'm not a govt employee, only general citizen of India . Please reply.
Sir can you give a clear idea, regarding mode of investment in NPS.. for eg If I want to invest 50000 INR per year, should I invest as lumpsum or will I break it and invest 4000 every month or half yrly or weekly and likewise. Also if it lumpsum then should I invest in the beginning of financial year like 1st of April or 1st wk of April just like we do in case of PPF or at the end like in Feb-March or in the middle of year? ( I am 35yrs old and from this year I have started to invest in NPS for the first time)... It will be great if you can made a video on this topic as well... Waiting for your kind reply eagerly... Thank you
Hello - I have been investing in NPS from past few years with Moderate Auto Choice, now if I want to make it active choice with (60-25-15) ratio..Equity-Corp-Govt bonds..so this new percentage will on total money invested till now or only on the current financial year (say investing 50K this year)..pls confirm?
I have resigned from job for persuing abroad studies and came to know that only 20% i can withdraw..which annuity should i invest in with rest 80% and will i get monthly amount post investing that 80%
Sir I am govt officer and my nps money is deposited in passive nps i.e uti,SBI and lic.... What you suggest should I change my scheme and what companies should I include in how much percentage... Further I am an aggressive investor
We already have a popular video on PPF. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-aAb4DKbdBvg.html .. Kindly explore that, it's a very well compiled list of what every PPF subscriber needs to know.
Brother! the way you explained everything is awesome. I have a query, if I start investing in NPS and suppose after 4-5 years I settle down in abroad. In such scenario, Can I withdraw the amount since I will not be working in India and also will it be mandatory to invest every year even if I do not work in India?
Is someone invests in an nps scheme but few years later migrates abroad and settles in the new country ,is it mandatory to close the nps account or can he continue making payments ?
Sir your videos are data based and are very very good with clear voice I am fan of yours sir.By seeing your video I came to know that I can take tax benefit 10% basic +da if my employer contributes. This is over and above 50k under 80ccd and 1.5 lacs 80c limit.Great work sir 👏👏👏
The max allowable expense ratio for NPS funds (equity) is 0.09%. Pls click on this link below and find (Ctrl+F) "Investment Management Fee" www.npstrust.org.in/content/charges-under-nps
Hello sir I am a central government employee. I do have NPS by default. But I can't map it to our etmoney app. Is there any way to import external NPS data in etmoney app. As there is such provision for analysing external mutual fund investments.
Hi. We can't say much without looking at the statement. Please contact the platform through which you have invested into it. If ET Money, then write to help@etmoneycare.com
Can you please best PFM for NPS tier Two tax saver scheme also what percentage of returns can I expect from it? Also risk meter of it.. please sir.. replies me
I started investing in NPS since 6 months today I checked how much I earned, but surprisingly I have loss of 11%, my fund manager is HDFC pension fund manager , is it expected?
Very unlikely. Pls check out the 6M option in this link www.hdfcpension.com/nav/nav-history/ .. all four asset classes are up. You might want to connect with the HDFC pension team if there is something out-of-the-ordinary in your statement
NPS is really a good investment option for salaried / middle income group people to built corpus. Suggestion : withdrawal process can be explained ; how easy it is or complex?
Hi, withdrawal process has been already discussed in previous NPS videos which are listed in this video's description. Since this video was on NPS performance, we have not repeated that part again.
I am a Central government employee and by default fund chosen for my portfolio is UTI, LIC, SBI. Can central government employee change the fund manager and if yes so how often can they switch the fund manager?
You might want to check out this webpage and then connect with the relevant person in your department. www.npscra.nsdl.co.in/central-government.php This line was of special interest: As per the Gazette Notification dated January 31, 2019 issued by the Ministry of Finance (Department of Financial Services), the Central Government Subscribers w.e.f. April 1, 2019 have the option of selecting the Pension Funds (PFs) and Investment Pattern in their Tier- I account. The Subscriber can choose any one of the available Pension Funds and Investment Option as per their choice. If the choice is NOT exercised by the Subscriber, NPS contributions would be invested in the existing default schemes of the 3 Pension Fund Managers (PFMs), viz, LIC Pension Fund Limited, SBI Pension Funds Pvt. Limited and UTI Retirement Solutions Limited in a predefined proportion, as mentioned in the Statement of Transaction (SoT), as per the guidelines issued by PFRDA.
Hi, when we switch the asset allocation or change the mode altogether from active to auto, what happens under the hood? Do all the fund units get sold and then rebought based on the new allocation? Or only those fund units get sold that are needed to set up the nps fund based on the new allocation? Then does it mean the timing of switching is very important, and you should do the switch if the markets are high especially if you have a high equity exposure when performing the switch. Is this correct?
Hi. On the timing bit, we think - timing is the least important for NPS especially if your retirement is 20 or more years away. So when buying a unit now at 10 versus 11 rupees NAV .. only for it to mature 20 years later at 100 rupees does not amount too much as a difference in the overall scheme of things.
