I agree, definitely a strong personality and character!

It wasn’t just the funny lines. Leah Remini managed to punch out lines which wouldn’t be funny in a table read and still get laughs. The fact that she never won an Emmy for her acting just shows how skewed award ceremonies are. And she probably saved the show too. Initially Carrie was the foil to Doug, but Leah wouldn’t accept it, and asked for better material. Once they realised how funny she was, she got almost as much screentime as Kevin James. Both were brilliant, as was the whole cast.

King of queens and everybody loves raymond. Debra can be quite feisty sometimes too. 😆

@BlininBae Agreed! There was a reason this show lasted nine seasons. Producers, writers, actors, guest stars, this show had it all and never jumped the shark. Classic!

​@BlininBae These claims seem pretty unfounded, and yet you are apparently 100% sure in your convictions. Do you have even a shred of doubt, that you could possibly be wrong? It seems like people just repeat back and forth that somehow, if you are a strong woman with a strong witty personality, that you would be treated badly. Why? People just say that without a real reason behind it. So you think people are just spiteful about it? I think it takes a pretty rare person to be spiteful that easily. No, if anything, having a witty personality as a woman sticks out, I don't see how it wouldn't be refreshing to people. If you saw a pretty girl who also made you laugh, would you not think you hit the jackpot? That carrying a conversation with them is as engaging as looking at them? And there is the halo effect anyway... a lot of times even pretty female characters that say trite lines get laughs because they are reacting to a stupid thing the man did, so in the case of Leah, when you have actually funny lines coming out of her mouth, there are even more laughs. Are you sure you understand how people work? Because your alternative scenario seems highly unrealistic. Carrie is one of the things that made the show stick out and be successful, and so people would probably be far more refreshed than they would be resentful. Her personality would more likely have increased her chances than decreased them. Despite all of that, Kevin's role still makes him a larger part of the action, even though Leah definitely takes some strong roles throughout the show as well. She's a mixture of a support and lead perhaps, and it works very well. Carrie has a strong personality, but so does Doug, so she has some competition. One can make an argument for her being the better character, but I would still go with Doug, although the combination of the two works very well. I just think it's far fetched to attack peoples' morals in their assessment -- you could make a case for either of them, and one isn't automatically sexist based on decisions like this, but not everyone is going to get picked.

@Alexander Hamilton Everyone on the show was great.. I wish Ritchie hadn't left the show when he did. Well Kevin James ended the the show to pursue movies and those movies all sucked.

Luckily they didn't! Season 9 was much weaker than the previous seasons. The end was overdue. And the whole storyline about a sudden adoption in China was totally out of place. Throughout the show, Doug and Carrie never spoke about adoption. It just didn't fit their roles.

Agreed shes great in all them but I do think that she was sweeter/less sassy I guess in the earlier episodes

@@nancykoon4936 i think it was because the writers didn't know Leah alot so maybe once when they finally got to fully know her they probably made her character sassy and more outspoken.

@@josephmendoza6993 I think it also kind of fit in with the story..you know as she got older and their marriage got older, she became even more cynical and more bitchy as Doug did more outlandishly silly and downright stupid stuff sometimes. They alluded to that in the finale..

Well, she grew up in it. Her family joined when she was 9. It's not something she initially chose for herself. And it became a family affair, so it was much harder to break away from that. But eventually she did.

@ Well OK I had to look up "incel", but anyway that was just my opinion. The more I watch, the more I realize Doug is only concerned with feeding his face. You can't ignore that he takes Carrie for granted. That one scene when they're in the restaurant and he doesn't defend Carrie when she gets capers. That disturbed me and I wanted to kick the shit out of Doug.

@ Carrie grew bolder because Doug was actually the selfish, annoying bully! Probably got tired of it! She had to treat him like a mother! He didn't even know how to refinance his home. I remember when he lied about the mold problem in their basement! So there!!! Lol!
