@@jamesbarr8218 How so? The whole point of that arc was that he claimed to be a "Spanish genius," but was actually just going off of what he picked from being married to a Latina and Sesame Street.
My favourite Chang moment is when he walks in backwards with a printout of his face stuck to the back of his head, says "Mhmmm, this extra long churro tastes good in my real mouth" and walks away backwards again going om nom nom nom
7:20 when The Dean is reprimanding Winger for his fake bald cap, he has a line above his eyebrows that looks like a bald cap. Also he has no natural wrinkles on his forhead above that point, suggesting it is a bald cap.
Changs sanity is kinda like the litmus test of how wacky the rest of the season is. Changs teacher arc is one of my favorite because absurdity is handled with sincerity.
Makes sense. A lot of general practitioners are straight up nuts on a personal level. A type of quiet insanity you don't ever see until you get close enough.
Yes, Ken Jeong makes every line delivery even more hilarious. My favourite Chang lines would be "Fire can’t go through doors, stupid. It’s not a ghost!", and "I am a Spanish Genius!"
I love how utterly menacing he is during the "El Tigre Chino" speech... I would be scared for my safety if I was in that class. And a huge shoutout to "Who's erratic and unstable now, Princess Gringa?"
Chang truly thwarted so many stereotypes by being the weirdest most unhinged character in tv history 😂 it’s an unconventional tactic but it’s effective. (There’s still a couple but so few.)
Chang's decent into madness and (sort of) redemption is always hilarious to me haha. Bear down for midterms and Chang as Jeff's understudy crack me up every time.
The show acknowledged it too in season 6 lol. Elroys shocked Chang was a Spanish teacher and he says "havent been utilized properly since". Lampshading at its finest haha
I love the fact that Changs entry in the paintball competition is filmed like the John Woo classic "The Killer" with the nod to his Hollywood classic "Face/Off" with the golden guns. Genuinely amazing!
That "Ta-Da" at the unveiling of the paint bomb in Modern Warfare is one of the top 5 line deliveries in Community. The way he captures that 90's bad guy persona is just perfect in that whole scene.
I heard somewhere that the original plan for Chang was just a simple one joke about the Spanish is a Chinese guy. In his 1st audition he went so hard off script that they decided to make him a mainstay of the show
Annie/Chang interactions were absolute perfection. That "Who's erratic and unstable now, princess gringa?" line, followed by that "Disney Annie" eye flutter and that kiss of death, lives rent free in my head after all these years XD
Chang may be the one I feel was most improved in S5/6. His 'insanity arc' in season 3 and Kevin in 4 were alright and "okay" respectively, but I liked him much more in 5/6. Feels on par with season 2, though Senior Chang s1 is probably the best.
Not only hilarious, but more actually logical than most real speeches and PSAs. That's right, kids: They're cool and fun until they decide to totally fk you up!
You are missing so much in this list. You took like all the five out of 10 of the best parts, when there are 10 out of 10 parts that you are so missing on. For example fire can't go through walls, it's not a ghost.
@3:40 Is Chang really an idiot tho? Given Duncan would have had to run many similair published experiments in order to establish the effect of the Duncan Principle. We can assume Chang may have known the nature of the expierment and just left knowing he would get paid for completing the study. Community college spanish teach doesnt have 🖐 minutes to make 80$?
I just finish bing watched Dr. Ken. I guess I never saw season 2 when it first aired. It’s about Dr. Ken trying out comedy and ends with Dan Harmon offering him a role on Community as a Spanish teacher. But Dr. Ken the show featured most of the main Community cast member as characters in Dr. Ken’s show. Allison never appeared though until the last episode and played herself.
If I ranked the seasons, I’d go 3,2,1,5,6,4 (seasons 2 and 3 are inter-chang-able) I was debating between the placement of 6 and 4, but ultimately, I felt that the last episode, Garrett’s wedding, the Dean’s VR obsession and the return of Subway (Rick), were pretty good episodes (ignoring their end credit scenes), unlike 4’s consistent midness.
