I still snicker at how evil Arin was for having the game already launched and on the title screen so that Dan could not see the game's warning at the beginning and suspect that the game may be something more than just a cutesy visual novel.

“It’s not over Dan.” Is genuinely one of the creepiest sentences ever muttered. Really drove home the tonal shift. Good job, Arin.

Sometimes late at night, when I have trouble falling asleep, Arin’s voice comes to me, “GET BIGGER HANDS!”

I often think of Dan going “IS THIS A HORROR GAME?!”. I can remember his exact tone and inflection, and it always makes me laugh. Poor poor Dan.

I just realised everytime the game "ends" when a character dies, the word "END" is written backwards... like it's saying "end" to the character. Our game doesn't end - theirs done.

It's incredible how many jokes they made in the first half that are completely accurate without knowing what happens (besides the one scene arin saw)

Dan as Yuri: "Ya ever read Clifford the big red dog?" Days later. Dan: look, it's Clifford the big red blood stain.

I never realized how insane their foreshadowing is. And they don't even mean to do it.

This play through is my absolute favorite because Dan was SO CONVINCED that this was a typical dating sim and seeing his horrified responses to everything hitting the fan is so much more perfect than any other streamline RU-vidr

They joked about Yuri smearing shit on a page and handing you it as a poem. Little did they know... They weren't far off on the mark.

This is my favorite play through of doki doki because dans reactions are so genuine and innocent. He really has no idea what’s going on, and it’s hilarious 😂

I love watching Dan slowly pick up on things. Like when natsuki says Yuri won't make it through the day and he's like "what's that supposed to mean" so cute

Man it wasn’t until now that I clocked how Monika... she NEVER takes her eyes off you...

So the first time I watched this play through I was as oblivious as Dan. Now watching this all again, and all of Arin's hints and Dan's innocence... It's just so cruel lol

When Monika blinks it makes a camera shutter sound.

32:22 "Load me" And Dan is like: "wouldn't it be cool if she were a Robot? 😍" Oh pure little Soul. I can't take it...

Arin's voice for monika is just the most perfect thing I've ever heard.

It still amazes me how Dan foreshadowed so much of this game without realizing it.

Oh god everything that I suppressed in the back of my brain from ddlc is coming back

Arin just made me spit take my coffee with that dumb “eat my hair” moment, why just why am I like this

Ok look, I’m just gonna say it: I liked Natsuki’s poems more than I liked Yuri’s. Like don’t get me wrong, Yuri’s poems were very eloquent and sophisticated and I’m not gonna pretend like the running gag with “Eagles can Fly” wasn’t hilarious. But while most of Yuri’s poems could’ve just as easily been formatted as short stories and it wouldn’t have made much of a difference, Natsuki’s were very stylistic and really took advantage of the medium. I also really liked Natsuki’s philosophy on how “deep and complex” doesn’t necessarily equate to “good” and how simple stories with simple themes, when executed in a clever and creative way, can hold just as much artistic integrity.

Dan: "Ehehehe, I'm going to keep writing. Until I die. This afternoon" Arin: *Visibly sweating*

Its heavily implied (or maybe even said?? don’t remember) that Natsuki’s dad doesn’t feed her, and that she’s malnourished. So that scene with Natsuki giving Sayori her cookie is actually really really important, not just dumb filler. She barely eats, but still gives a cookie to Sayori to make her happy. Edit: I decided to look into it and I found a point in the game where Monika says “Natsuki’s dad doesn’t give her lunch money or leave her any food in the house, so she’s in a fussy mood pretty often... But sometimes she just loses all of her strength and shuts down. Like earlier. This is just a guess, but I think she’s so small because her malnutrition is interfering with her adolescent growth...”

God I remember watching these let’s plays and not being able to explain to my friends why the Clifford jokes were so funny to me

Imagine if they really did stop playing like they said they almost did at 24:15 Dan would go the rest of his life thinking it was just a charming little dating sim about poetry.

Sayori's response of "I'm gonna go home and oversleep" after MC was mean to her kinda hits harder now.

I like how Arin and Dan made this whole story around the actual story and it's the only actually entertaining thing and was the only thing that they laughed at. They didn't laugh at any of the actual dialog, only the parts they added or emphasized in an unintentional way.

“Cause she’s a robot.” “Yeah, that’s our own little fan fiction spin on it-“ “I don’t know, could be real.”

I miss this goddamn series, however... I don't trust romance story novel games anymore .. I can't wait for Danny and Arin to play the next game Salvato is making for this

I wish I was patient enough for animation. At "Okay everyone, vanish" part (8:46) , I'm imagining Monika dressed as a stage magician. The other girls, dressed in the playboy bunny look, are standing in giant top hats. She waves her wand, they all _schlorp_ into their respective hats, spinning on the way down... Dang.

When he yelled “get low, get low” in sayoris voice I cried so hard laughing that someone came to my car and asked me if I was alright

So fun fact; this game helped me get over a massive depression phase, you might even go as far as to say it kept me from taking the Sayori way out. I was depressed and decided I'd see what cutsie dating sims I could find, and of course being all messed up in the head I failed to read the tags on the store page and downloaded the game. As soon as things got weird I figured it was my PC, but kept playing up until the Sayori scene and of course noticed the background. Long story short, I got caught up in the meta stuff of the game and the story and just simply forgot about what was bringing me down! I also nearly browned my jorts when I saw all those scares due to me not typically enjoying horror games.

Kinda funny how they made Monika a robot when she’s the most human of them all

Dan’s unintentional foreshadowing makes this so much better!

One of the best playthroughs. Dan and Arin not just working overtime with the humorous additions but also their chill / sensitive dynamic in their reactions to the game.
