Watching this in 2022 and it still makes me laugh. I still have the special 3DS that was made for the Year of Luigi 😔 even though its hinges are broken
“I love deformed babies!” “Don’t worry, they’re probably dead.” Arin, I know that you say these things in jest, but please. I don’t need more nightmare fuel.
You're welcome, I was just trying to prevent misinformation after I researched Arin's dubious sounding claim. Had I caught it earlier I would have overlayed text instead of just an annotation.
@Pass Datass You replied because you were agitated by my reply, because you didn't understand it so you got mad and without thinking about what my reply means you blew up. That was too easy.
Andrew Watling bitch me too the fuck. i used to listen to markplier, and falling to sleep to his voice. now its game grumps. i put autoplay on and wake up 7 hours later to some random GG video
God! I remember having a marathon for this game with my friends... No breaks (toilets are exception, don't want a shitty place to play in) A shit ton of snacks (who gives a shit about diabetes) And no such thing as exercise (thank The Lord!) This game makes me want to call up the friends and do all of that again.
Those are always the best, I remember doing that with until dawn. It was hilarious being the only one that had played it and watched them be paranoid about literally everything
I love them discussing the personality and overall relationship dynamics between Mario and Luigi. It's insightful AND funny!! And for those who may not have played "Yoshi's Island" or watched enough of the "Super Mario Bros." (Super Show) cartoons in the 90's; Mario and Luigi are fraternal twins with Mario being the older of the two.
Yoshi actually means 'good, righteous, respectable'. Which is just yet another thing from Japanese parliance that doesn't translate to English. Because basically, if you go "YOSH!" the hard translation of what you're saying is, 'That doesn't suck!' You might think it's sarcasm, but usually, it's not! Also, I think they say 'yosh' instead of 'yoshi' when it's alone or on the end of a sentence because you're not supposed to end something with 'shi'. Which is the kanji for death.
I'm playing through this right now on an online emulator and accidentally stumbled on thisx video, never heard of you guys before. You are my new youtube loves and i shall watch you EVERY DAY. that is all.
Heather Southall you are checking out the original game grumps channel right? i just take their videos and make videos of my favourite parts, glad you enjoyed the video either way
The key to Arin's little trick at 49:50 is multiplying by 9 to guarantee the two digits adding to 9, then 9-5=4 for the letter D. From there it's just the most common letter associations. If people don't catch on to reason for the x9 step it's actually pretty clever =) (That said, you're hosed if someone picks Koala -> Aquamarine for some reason)
That's what I love about puzzles like these: finding the bit that guarantees a certain answer. However, not everyone thinks of Denmark initially, but it is one of the shortest and most popular answers, along with kangaroo as an animal that starts with k. It's so cool!
AWESOME history clarification on the whole Quaker thing. Thanks so much for that! I know they're just human, but it always makes me wince when popular web celebrities spread misconceptions, especially about extremely touchy matters like slavery. I don't blame them, just causes misinformation to spread and collectively decreases the understanding of the human condition a little bit. It's good to see someone clearing up confusion so publicly and conspicuously.
Especially in such a positive, unobtrusive, non-confrontational way. Felt I should clarify, I feel this is the correct way to do this. Either way, thanks again!
Glad to hear that the annotation is appreciated and you're welcome! I included the clip since I found the censorship at the end funny and I only realized after publishing the video and doing some research on the Amish (after reading haxareformagickarps' comment) that what Arin and Dan said might cause misinformation. Had I realized earlier I would have had text pop up as part of the video instead of annotations which might be turned off or unavailable on certain devices, hopefully the annotations and comments reach enough people.
And yeah I don't see the point of being confrontational to Arin and Dan for being inaccurate given that their series is unscripted and they tend to forget that they are speaking to a large audience for better and worse. I'm willing to cut them some slack since I believe it was an honest mistake and hope people are willing to forgive me for my mistake of potentially spreading more information unintentionally by including the clip in this compilation without providing context sooner. Anyway, thanks for your comments and thanks for watching!
This is the first Game Grumps playthrough I ever watched, I wasn’t expecting much. I didn’t think they’d be any different than any other gameplay channel on RU-vid. But here I am years later, and I’m going to their live show in A couple months
I love being from the future and knowing that's Dan's "steel industry" slip up would pale in comparison to the great Arin eye being spelled ewe debacle.
Ive noticed that since this playthrough Dan's become more quiet whereas Arin's become more outspoken and comfortable with himself. Life is beautiful sometimes.
Somebody tell Danny that in the Short Hills Mall, Macy's doesn't have video game displays anymore and GameStop, the only video game store, was replaced with a macaroon store.
that was the weirdest thing, with arin's "2-8" little trick thing, for some reason i thought "Dubai" (which isnt even a country because im fucking dumb), but for some reason, i still thought of a kangaroo.
06:12 little known fact: if any mario game says Mario bros., its canonically Mario and Luigi. but this is just Super Mario World, but they just kept the multiplayer.
Dan: Boy you can get away with saying one accidental thing on this show lol... Fast forward 3 years in a Zelda play through when Dan trolls Arin about misspelling eye 🤣😂🤣
How could you leave out Dan's adventures with the on/off button in Ludwig's castle? "I'm sorry, I though OFF meant friggin off!" Best Mario World moment.
Why it works: 9 times any number is just adding a bunch of 9's. The digital root of a number (i.e. the sum of its digits) doesn't change if you add 9 to it, so 9+9+9+9.....+9 always has a DR of 9. 9-5 is 4. 4 is D. The rest is just the first things that come to people's minds.
I was so scared that he could read my mind. I had a small heart attack when he said Denmark, Kangaroo, Orange, I was so scared. My heart is still pumping. God it hurts
