'Favorite 3D Zelda,' technically. And that was prior to BotW. And also prior to replaying it. As a game that's about doing side missions (which they did almost none of) and using the *very* short main story dungeons as speed bumps to encourage you to play more of the actual game, it truly was Arin-poison.

It will be so much better for my sanity and Arin's that they never finish this series, unless he learns to make it obvious he's stating opinions and not claiming his opinions are facts. I mean, he's not deliberately saying, "My opinions are facts," but when he says stuff like, "No, no, this game is amazing. It is I who am wrong," he makes it sound like an opinion can be right or wrong, when it really cannot (unless it's bigoted, which is always wrong, but that's not the point here). It's perfectly fine to hate a game, but maybe throw in something like "I feel" or "to me" or "in my opinion." It's not that hard. I do it all the time, when I don't want people to attack me for considering Breath of the Wild or Monster Hunter World my least favorites of their respective franchises.

@@Brad.M. I was always under the opinion that he hates the first 3D Zeldas for the same reason I do. They just really didn't age well, when compared to the rest of Nintendo's huge games anyway. Even more so if you have no nostalgia for them and start them with a blank slate

@@nordikkai7185 I can agree that they have not aged well. The graphics are bad compared to today's standards obviously. And some mechanics are...troublesome to say the least. But despite that, they were such huge influences on the lives of Zelda fans and gamers and even Nintendo themselves, for better or for worse. Ocarina of Time was the first 3D Zelda, Majora's Mask went through development hell, and Wind Waker was hated only because the original GameCube showcase was realistic.

But being a person that didn't grow up with Nintendo until a bit later in life, I can see why some (including myself) really don't find the two games all that enjoyable. I feel like Arin recognizes that they are important to gaming history, but can't stand that people always claim they are flawless while that's not the case.

I still... like in one of the last few episodes of MM they recorded Arin said that the stuff he liked was like the side quest bombers notebook type stuff. And he stopped playing because he had like 7 total hearts at the fourth/final dungeon and kept dying. So why didn't he just do the stuff he said he liked about the game, because the reward for doing that stuff is usually heart pieces and/or other things that will make you stronger and more capable of dealing with threats. Hopefully if they are uploading this video they will be going back to finish majoras mask eventually.

The fact that they're like.. 98% through it, as far as the "bare minimum" is concerned. He just needs to finish that mini-boss, beat the temple boss and he could go to the final boss, like, minutes later. He'd probably be done in less than an hour. Stopping completely, after having made it _that_ far, just feels like a huge waste.

It actually isn't. The arrow aiming is still better, of course, and I like being able to take the fierce diery mask for a new game+. But the boss fights are reduced to standardized "zelda pattern" behaviour (twinmold in particular is so long to the point of the player wondering if they are doing something wrong), and the 3DS version flat up broke all the fun of zora swimming. In theory I don't mind them changing it to match Goron mask, but in practice they didn't add any magic jars to compensate and the electric noise is super annoying which results in no one swimming fast ever. That was one of the best parts of the original game and it's totally gone!

MM doesn't mesh well with the GG style. They're constantly skipping through everything and focusing on making jokes but it's a sincere, story-driven game that rewards you for paying attention. It's just sad that Arin should've known that (since he played it before) and his bad attitude tainted Dan's first experience. 😓 ... And yes, it was a bad attitude. I was able to accomplish everything in this game just fine even as a 12 year old.

We all know Arin hates the 3D Zelda games (even though it is do to Arin's lack of focus and patience, thus causing him to yell at the game everytime something doesn't go his way and having his yes man Dan worry about his job), but if you don't like the game, why play it at all?!

I love this. You get to hear the moments they were actually having fun and not interupted by long strings of "WHAT ARE WE SUPPOSED TO DO" My only suggestion would be that if you want it to feel like "basically watching the playthrough", it would be helpful to include major cutscenes to act as checkpoints for progress, even if it's a sped up cutscene with silly music
