Definitely think they need to start considering bike only times -- and even bike only days. Mixing bikes and cars at high speeds on any circuit is pretty dangerous.

Comedic Sketches Why are you saying that motorcycle crashes are the only crashes that happen due to stupidity, watch any compilation of the tourist times and almost all of the crashes happen because of idiots going too fast or trying some stupid tricks like drifting. They should make bike only days because when a biker falls over they have nothing to protect them from that 2000kg bmw driving a bit too close. Car drivers usually just don't think that their car can turn a biker into a pancake that easily. And why are you saying mixed "race days", when the point of touristenfahrten isn't about racing and laptiming but letting anyone go circle the track.

In this video the driver who pushed him outside wasn't a BMW driver. There's dangerous drivers with all kind of cars and the worst are the ones that don't care about the most fragile. Pedestrian, Cyclist and bikers.

Ian P They are both in the wrong. The rules of the 'ring say you have to pass on the left, ergo the cars giving way should pull right. The Audi saw the biker, but pulled to the wrong side of the track (they indicated and pulled left) which caught the rider out.

Sorry, but I don't understand where you saw the "any regards for his surroundings". The only "close call" was with the Audi, and it's an Audi driver fault, he need to leave pass who is faster, and in Nürburgring you can overtake only on the left side. The other clips it's only fast drive.

Rules of the Nurburgring: overtaking is always on the left to you keep right. The Audi saw him coming, still he kept left and he indicated left. That's dangerous and confusing. Either you indicate right and you go right, or you don't indicate at all so the rider behind isn't confused by your behaviour. It would be OK if the Audi kept left and didn't indicate. That's so much as saying "I saw you but I will still act dangerously"
@mattcwell
@mattcwell 3 года назад
@@l.d.t.6327 you couldn't be more wrong. First of all, overtaking is done on the left, not on the right. In addition, this is a blind, off-camber, uphill corner with a very small margin for deviating from the racing line. It's why you see so many cameras there. Absolutely stupid thing to attempt a pass there during a touristfharten lap, against regular tourists.
@l.d.t.6327
@l.d.t.6327 3 года назад
@@mattcwell my bad, I accidentally changed left and right. I edited my comment. Still the Audi was dangerous. He didn't follow the race line to keep the curve, he followed the outside line because he thought the motorbike would prefer to pass on the inside of this 'youtube curve'. While he kept the outside line (the ideal racing line), he went superslow and braked hard. Either you keep your racing line and you keep your speed, or you move and slow down. Don't keep the racing line while braking hard, like the Audi did.
@mattcwell
@mattcwell 3 года назад
@@l.d.t.6327 The point is that it’s a tourist day. That may be that person’s literal first time seeing that corner, which as I pointed out is a totally blind, off-camber, very line-specific corner. That this rider decided to race a family hatchback around a difficult corner with the only escape-route being to go off track. I am not arguing about what the Audi should or shouldn’t have done. As a rider with a machine like the R1, you have to be absolutely certain of what the car in front of you is doing before you try to make and outside pass around a blind, off-camber corner. It’s not smart riding - period.

@PaulPunk23LP
@PaulPunk23LP Год назад
@@yeahnahsweetas i totally get you, but during a tourist drive, you are only allowed to go as fast as traffic allows it. If you actually want to go that fast, go on a trackday or do some road races. The Audi probably saw him in the last second and just wanted to move out of the way. Thing is, on a tourist drive, you can drive as slow as you want to go. And of course, rhe Audi should stick to the right side of the track, but some people dont just want to sit on the apex, blocking everyone. (because especially in this corner, you can easily crash or slide off, when you don't stay on the inside) Better to ride safe. People won't expect you to race on the tourist day like a moron. (Because its not allowed). Btw, what the bike did in that clip is even breaking the law (according to german law, this is an illegal road race)

LOL, may be right but he was at least on the ring not at all one of the fastest, though probably more likely middleclass. If not slower. 500 HP are no garanty for fast laps on the ring, you can be for sure faster with a good working 600ccm bike if you know where to throttle

Bamwich No it's a tourist day you fucking mong, the driver was comitted to the corner and the biker was prohibited to pass on the right anyway! This isn't a track day or a race, YOU need to read the rules.
@Bamwich
@Bamwich 6 лет назад
meth0d mate, the rules are pass on the left. What you're saying is contradicting. The driver just made a mistake and moved over to the wrong side. Like you said, it's not a race or track day, you can't block underbrakes. I'm not a mong, I just seem to understand the situation a little better than you.
@Shedz46
@Shedz46 6 лет назад
clearly you dont Bamwich. If Nino is such a great rider, then he wouldnt have tried to pass, or he'd have allowed for the tourist to make the corner before trying. He had plenty of time to slow and take a better line, and was totally in the wrong. Its a public day, people get confused or frightened by fast approaching vehicles. A good rider would have allowed for that. Anyone thats been to Nordschliefe enough times knows to expect novice drivers to move erratically. If he wants to put in uber fast laps, he should do proper trackdays.
@droceretik
@droceretik 6 лет назад
The biker was visible 200 meters behind before that right hander if the car driver had used the mirrors and should have moved to the right rather than taking the "racing line". I doubt the driver even knew the bike was behind until the rider blipped the throttle after running on the grass. He still may not have realised what had happened as he was probably driving with his head up his arse. The rider should have backed off a second or so earlier as it looked like the driver hadn't seen him. I'd say 80% drivers fault, 20% riders. Riding in traffic, a rider should always use defensive techniques and assume drivers don't see them. Nino was riding very aggressively which is not recommended with mixed vehicle types and widely variable driver skills. I have seen numerous RU-vid videos of tourist days where drivers do not look in their mirrors frequently enough so are caught by faster vehicles and fail to move to the left promptly enough. Some riders are guiltly of the same offense. Sabine Schmidt says the same thing on her ring taxi videos and she has done over 30,000 laps. Drivers must look in their mirrors at least every 5 seconds which includes looking in the wing mirrors for bikes or low sports cars. Most slower vehicles manage to keep left even on right hand turns. That driver did not need to use the racing line as he wasn't going that quick.

Great and impressive riding. But you should have given the car at 1:38 more space and anticipated his actions when you come up behind people so quickly - he obviously hadn’t seen you. It isn’t actually a race track and you only have one life…..

@benistingray6097
@benistingray6097 6 лет назад
Clearly his own fault @1.38 The problem here is he comes so fast from behind that the driver of the Audi couldnt see him at this point. The Audi driver would probably check his mirrors after leaving the corner before, then his view goes to the next corner, check where he starts to break! From this point on he is watching for his turning point an apex and hasnt time to see whats behind. Its the responsibility of the driver behind to overtake in a save way. And after all there are road laws and its a tourist drive so you have all the different skill levels on track!

If he wants to die riding like that, that's its he's problem, not yours or anybody. He can ride fast, he likes it; that's it. If he dies, he will be one of the millions of ppl that died riding bikes. That's not your concern unless it affects you. Enjoy the fucking savage riding, and stop complaining about what others do. It's he's fucking life. Ride safe and don't be stupid.

Why? He is highly skilled. The clowns were the drivers who didn't keep left or use their mirrors. Nurburgring is for fast driving and riding. He is riding at high speed in a controlled environment. Yes, there are increased risks with high speeds near the limits of adhesion but this is the proper venue for such riding.
