Hey guys, Siv here. This marks my 9th Best Of on here. I put in a short trailer at the beginning, and a part counter at the bottom right (shoutouts to DatAsuna for the ideas). Fun fact: Reggarth dodged attacks via item pickup a total of 4 times in the entire LP, and they are all timestamped. Enjoy.
ok am i the only one hearing the Pat and woolie style of pat's "Drop your shield" and "see what I mean" With woolies "Excellent" and The Fabled "your Doing it!" and "it's Done". This is the LP we needed in 2021!
My fave part of this LP is, still, the ending of the Dragon God. Reggie gets super scared and is about to fuck it up HARD and Woolie goes "Kill it" with the most fear i've heard from him in a while.
Thanks! I try to put some narrative stuff in there(not all, though). It makes the videos a bit long, but caters to the viewers who treat it as a shorter version of the LP.
during this lp, I always imagined Woolie as a nagoryuki looking ass old smug sensei, laughing at his student Reggie which he only took in cause he was bored
The sincere lack of awareness was first seen in woolie during the dark souls LP's. Where a furious ginger yanked up the slack with targetted advice for woolie if "you know what I mean". Now Reggie passes more information that it might not just be Woolie with the profound perseption point misallocation 😂 it could be entirely class specific
30:11 oh sweet, innocent Reggie.... Also the crestfallen knight is the player that gave up, unfortunately something I’m trying to deal with while getting my buddy through ds1. He’s hollowed multiple times
One day....Reggie will surpass Woolie. And when that day comes....he will become legend. ....Then again surpassing Woolie at anything isn't really that hard now that I think about it.
Now I kind of want Woolie to teach Reggie how to either play Bloodborne or Nioh to see where FromSoft went or what the ones inspired by it came up with.
I myself had my own Demon Souls Remake Adventure. bought is back in high school beat the Phalanx, took my ball and went home. All these years later after Beating DS2, BB, Nioh 1 & 2. My First Class back was a Barbarian Class and after that played through Offline mode as a Spellsword because Fuck those Demons! Seeing Reggie's journey is amazing, you see him learn from his mistakes, only to see him mess up again anyway. The Eureka moments that he fully gets the bosses like the Adjudicator and the like 4 episode Skeleton Warriors stairs fight that lead up to it! Souls type games have changed the way I approach fights in most games, and I Mark out if action game have a dodge roll. To the players who say that they cant beat a Souls game give it another try, Darks Souls 2 is a great start!
@@tylerdenham3880 basically if you left your console on or left the game running for a really long time it would mess with the boss AIs and cause them to not use their full moveset and act a lot more predictably
@@tylerdenham3880 Late answer but generally memory leak bugs are caused by memory being reserved by the program for certain data and then failing to un-reserve or release it. It marks that data space so that the program knows not to try and put any data there because it needs the stuff that's there. Then when it's done the program releases the marker on those memory addresses so it can be used for new data. When the program fails to release all memory addresses it reserved you get memory leaks, less and less of your RAM is now usable. The longer the program runs and the more this happens the more you end up with big chunks of RAM addresses being unusable because they're considered 'reserved' for data that the program doesn't actually need anymore. With bloodborne the prevailing theory was that lots of different things were causing memory leaks. Fast travelling and loading into different areas, fighting bosses, checking enemies in an area, loading textures, sound effects etc. Especially when you consider that you could cause this to happen by just leaving your character standing in place and doing nothing for a few hours. So it was likely an issue with how memory was being handled by the engine rather than any specific game function causing the issue. For example whenever you fight a boss, memory in RAM is likely reserved so that the data most relevant to the boss is in RAM so you can access it quickly, because reading that data from storage (of any kind) is very slow compared to RAM and you don't need the boss data all the time. Then when you're done fighting the boss the memory is released so RAM can be used for other stuff, but not all of it gets released for (most often) a programmatic/engine error. This process is applied to lots of things in game because of how slow reading from storage is, you load what you need into RAM, use it until you don't need it then release the memory associated with it so you can load something else in. So if you played for a couple of hours you'd start to notice that bosses lose portions of their moveset because space in RAM is reserved and the bosses entire dataset can't be loaded to where the program wants it to be, so it just partially loads it. Leading to the bosses sometimes standing around doing nothing because the thing they would do in that situation just isn't in RAM. As for how people discovered it I think it was specifically loading times? Loading times got worse and worse as the memory leak gets bigger but you can force the memory to be released by closing the game and restarting the console. Enough people were getting sick of long load times between boss attempts and noticed that after doing this that bosses and enemies were suddenly more aggressive and proactive then they were during preious boss attempts. The fact that the entire memory leak issue was fixed in one patch means likely there was an issue with how the engine was loading and releasing things in RAM, if it was unique issues for different assets it would have taken a long time to find every way that memory was being leaked.
No pressure Reggie, but I think me and a lot of folks would be super stoked on a Dark Souls LP!!! I shall sacrifice goats for the return of Reggarth until then!
Reggie not letting Patches voice acting play out is relateable. Playing FFXIV and it's like, you're doing such a good job at voicing this character I can't stand to hear another word out of their mouth, I'm sorryyyyy
Now that im playing demon souls, i konda wished Woolie got Reggie to at least one world in Pure Black Tendency, it takes like 10 minutes at worst and you are swimming on epehemeral eyes. Only if to see Reggie's reaction to those Primeval Demons.
I remember Flamelurker behaving like those mace giant armors in Dark Souls 2’s dragon shrine - Just infinite tracking swings all the time lol. Did the remake fix his AI
Hey woolie loved this playthru and love ur teaching style...but next time (if there is a next time in anyway, shape or series) were gonna need u to put a hard, extremely MINIMAL limit on the amount of times you let reggie struggle before telling him "hey...maybe change up ur strategy or equipment."
This game and remaster really makes me want bluepoint to just make FromSofts games at this point. This remake is genuinely fantastic, and it's topped off by Reggie being just the best new souls player to watch other than Woolie
