@Bat Computer That's interesting... never thought of the two that way. There were a few times where Joel seemed to acknowledge that he was under The Mads' control, but yes, he was more festive and light-hearted.
@@demonkingbadger6689 Yep. Especially Swan from The Warriors, guess, that's why he figured joining Power Rangers Mega Force with Barry Gibbo the clown was a good idea?
I love when the RiffTrax boys make references to MST3k stuff so much! Also, thank YOU for the wonderful “best of” clip show and even showing the origin of jokes from the Sattelite of Love to RiffTrax!
Y'know, looking at this now you realize that someone in Hollywood had just seen some Japanese Sentai Team shows and thought "hey, let's rip off their action scenes, it's not like anyone in the US will ever see them."
Movies like these only made sense in the 1980’s, so if you weren’t there and you’re having a hard time comprehending all this … don’t worry about. For guys like me, it’s a guilty pleasure.
They make total sense in a nonsensical way. I've tried making low budget short flicks with the same sort of formula, and I can't quite get it right. I guess they were on something else that made the movies... Work!
Hey, wasn't there also a short where a bully's whole raison d'etre was a girl beating him in an essay contest? Not to mention the one where the kid spoiled a desk using his essay contest prize... What was it with the mid-century and essay contests, anyway?!
*well, sorta...it's not like i'm here to tell you what to do or vaguely influence your fate by "suggesting" something that already exists in the same script you read just a few minutes ago....dua*
I don't know what's cheesiest: the flying motorcycle, Hunter's face while flying said motorcycle, the guys cheering for Hunter OR Guerera's reaction to all of it.
At the time the movie was released, the producer said that America needed more light-weight movies after the dismal 70's. But fun doesn't have to mean stupid.
Did anyone note that Megaforce soldiers wear a shoulder patch with their home country's flag. Hunter has a US flag, others have Japanese, French & Mexican Flags. Dallas, though has a Confederate Battle Flag! Is this an alternate universe where the south won the US civil war and still exists? I doubt that the US would contribute to a international force which allowed the flag of a failed rebellion against itself!
Well, Hunter did talk about the time he tried to recruit a straight-up mercenary to be in Megaforce, so presumably they don't all need to be sent by their country. Maybe Dallas just got in on his own merit. _(considers)_ On his own connections? No... Money? Well, on his own, certainly.
@@maxbrandt6 Texas was very much a part of the Civil war. It succeeded from the Union and contributed many troops to the Confederate army. In October 1862 Galveston was occupied by Union troops. A successful counter-attack in January 1863 re-took the city for the confederacy. There were no other major union invasions a Texas was a back-water to the major struggles elsewhere, but Texans fought as far away as Gettysburg.
@@stvdagger8074 Okay, thanks. I don't remember Texas being mentioned during the Civil War, I think my history classes (ages ago!) focused on the major conflict areas.
Any idea why the Rifftrax clan doesn't offer the Megaforce movie anymore? This is the only riffed version I can find anywhere 🤔 Also, many thanks for this little slice of heaven...
In an era where stunt coordinators and stunt men have made great action films (e.g. John Wick series), this was created by Hal Needham who for years was Burt Reynold's stunt coordinator.
In some other alternate reality this movie went on to spawn an entire franchise. After Mega Force VIII Amazon bought it, woked it up, and divided the fandom. In this reality, it sucks!
@@LchanOtakudom Was always a way better singer than an actor. But, at least, George Michael tries here. But, did he have to bring Swan from The Warriors with him too? I mean; I guess Swan had to join a new gang, since they never got a sequel. Guess he figured joining Mega Force with George Michael from Wham! was a good Idea?
