Best beaches, best sunset spot, best place to stay, best things to do, and most importantly, best tacos and other food!! We go snorkeling at Steps Beach, visit Maria's and Sandy Beach, and eat at Calypso's Café, Shaka Tacos, Jack's Shack, and Tamboo. We show the best neighborhood to stay in and recommend a great Airbnb. We also show some cool surfing and gorgeous sunsets! Below is more info.
Here is more info on the best stuff in Rincón:
Best Beaches-
Sandy Beach - Main beach in Rincón. Lot's of nice sand and some surfing.
Steps Beach - Best place for snorkeling and interesting rock formations. Bring water shoes and look for the concrete steps (where the name comes from)
Maria's Beach - Surfing and best beach for a sunset. Near Calypso's Café.
Domes Beach - Near Maria's beach and also great for surfing and there is a decommissioned nuclear power plant
Best Food-
Tamboo - Seafood, sandwiches, ribs, steaks and vegetarian options. Try the ramen. Great atmosphere near Sandy Beach and near where we stayed.
Calypso Café - near Maria's Beach. Salads, tacos, burgers and sandwiches. Eat some tacos then take a stroll along Maria's beach to watch surfers and the sunset.
Big Kahuna Bar + Restaurant - Watch Uncle Ward and other live music. Burgers, sandwiches, and Tacos. Try the spicy El Diablo Burger with fries.
Shaka Tacos - Best tacos! Best hot sauces!
Jack's Shack - Great fish tacos, quesadillas, burritos. Great option for breakfast.
The Beach House - Lot's of appetizers, tacos, salads, burgers and more. Great view of the ocean.
La Cambija - Doesn't look like much, but great seafood. We didn't make it, but highly recommended by the locals.
estela Restaurant - Great place if you are looking for a nicer, more expensive meal.
Best Place to Stay-
We stayed at the Beach Pad Airbnb in the Punta's neighborhood. Great location for us.
Best Sunset-
Get tacos at Calypso Café then stroll Maria's Beach and watch the sunset. Then go back to Calypso Café for some dancing.
Best Music-
Get a spicy El Diablo Burger at Big Kahuna Bar + Restaurant and watch some live music. Maybe you can catch Uncle Ward.
Best Activities-
Snorkeling at Steps Beach, Scuba diving at Desecheo Island, surfing at Maria's, Dome, or Sandy Beach. Visit art galleries. Take pictures at the old nuclear power plant near Punta Higüera Lighthouse.

It isn't a country, but a US territory in the Caribbean. 😊

Thank you for the video. Feels like a Rincon taco tour a bit. What abt other nicer food choices 🤔

Haha you noticed that did you? I think I over sold the "best food" part of my video. Should have just said "best tacos" and been done with it. That said, a lot of the places were closed or had limited hours when we were there because of the pandemic. We mostly ate near the Puntas neighborhood. For a wide menu, good atmosphere by the beach, and decent prices try Tamboo. Calypso's Cafe had food other than tacos that looked good and if you get there and eat before sunset, then you can just walk down to the beach and watch the sunset. Our scuba diving instructor said to go to La Cambija for fresh seafood. She catches and sells her lion fish there. Then someone else told us to go there as well. Highly recommended even though it doesn't look like much from the outside. We did try to go one night, but there was a super long wait and they were out of lion fish. The Big Kahuna Bar + Restaurant had good burgers and that is where the live music is in the video. Fun place. Try the Beach House. We had good food there and they have outdoor seating with a great view. If I think of any other places, I'll let you know.

I mentioned La Cambija above, but for another nice restaurant try estela Restaurant. It's always rated very highly and mentioned as one of the best restaurants in Rincon.

Nice! Thank you for the video. I might have missed it, what time of the year was this filmed?
@ChrisChrisman

I'm not sure I said the time of year in the video, but this was late Feb - early March time frame. It was a nice place to go when the rest of the U.S. was cold. Thanks for watching!

What restaurant/ bar was uncle ward performing at?
@ChrisChrisman
@ChrisChrisman Год назад
Hey Terrence. That was the Big Kahuna Bar + Restaurant. If you map it out (Carretera 413 Ramal, Rincón 00602, Puerto Rico) you can also see The Beach Pad which is the Airbnb we stayed at in the video. It is super close to Big Kahuna. Tamboo restaurant is also super close. Good little area to stay at. Hope that helps! Uncle Ward was really good.

I think Puerto Rico has benefited from not allowing big hotel chains to take over the beaches. The beaches look as if you’ve just discovered them. I hope that was a conscious decision. Love Puerto Rico.

I completely agree! Any hotels seem to be small and and fit in a lot better without taking over all the nice beaches. We were surprised just how many nice beaches were there. Puerto Rico is amazing and I can't wait to go back. Culebra especially is always going to be one of our favorite spots. Rincon was also incredible. Take care!

What’s with the music? Is this what it’s like in Rincon all over?
@ChrisChrisman
@ChrisChrisman Год назад
That place we stayed at the beginning of the video was right next to the bar that played music every night. Sometimes very late. So our experience was a trip where we heard a lot of music and could sit on the patio and listen to it. But, no, I wouldn't say it's like that all over Rincon. I really just liked a lot of the music, especially by Uncle Ward, so wanted to capture the feeling we had when we were there. I do make these videos to be helpful, but also hope to enjoy them when I'm 80 reminiscing in a rocking chair :) I appreciate your question...actually a great question! Let me know if you have any others. Rincon was an awesome place. Diving at Desecheo island and later heading to Culebra made it a real adventure! Thanks Stephanie!!

I can’t understand why go to PR if you’re not going to eat authentic food and enjoy the music and culture. You can eat fish tacos and listen to Americam music at home🤦‍♂️🤦‍♂️.

You make valid points, but Rincon was only one our stops and a lot of the good restaurants were closed or had odd hours during covid at that time. We tried to eat at more of the local restaurants. If you watch our Old San Juan video, we left the tourist district and headed over to dance at La Placita with the local people and enjoy local culture. We also ate some really good food in Old San Juan including tostones, maduros, pasteles, mofongo several times, pollo guisado and much more. We also had a lot of local food in Culebra. I guess we do look like uncultured Americans in this video :) If you watch our channel, though you will see we typically are all about local culture and traditions. Thanks for your comment!
