Nice video. I don't know what issues you faced with traveling to Culebra, but the ferry is a far better option economically and time wise than an airplane. BY FAR. If you try to pre order the tickets on the webpage, it will likely say they are sold out, but there are still plenty of tickets if you go to the terminal. You will have to pay 2 dollars per day for parking, I think. There is a shuttle bus that will take you from the parking to the terminal. The schedules listed on the site are accurate and run on time, always. I've been to Culebras, many, many, many, many, many times, and I've never had an issue with the ferry even during the height of COVID. It operates on time. The ferries are safe and clean. There are plenty of tickets even if the webpage says they are sold out.

Great information! We really wanted to take the ferry because, you are right, it is much more economical. We did a bunch of research and many reputable sources seemed to think the ferry was unreliable. I was afraid we would have accommodations and tours booked, but no way to get over there. Glad to hear first hand that it is not only reliable, but also safe and clean and has plenty of tickets available. Hopefully people seriously considering going to Culebra read through all these comments. I'm working on one or two more Culebra videos and will mention your comment in one of those. Thanks!

Which web page would I go to get tickets for the ferry?

the ferry is cheap. thats about the only good part of it although they now have more modern boats than a few years ago. if the water is rough that day, you will need to put up with people around you throwing up. it is a 2-1/2 hour ride, often crowded. it takes a chunk out of the day for sure. other videos on YT profile the range of experiences on the ferry of visitors. If you can afford to fly, you basically pick up the best part of a full day as part of your island stay.

That's a great compliment! Thank you so much. Culebra is a paradise. It's hard to capture all the best things when you are only at a place for 5 or 6 days, but we tried. I hoped to at least capture the things I wish I had known beforehand. We can't wait to get back there. Definitely one of our favorite places. Thanks for watching and thanks for the comment.

Hey Nick! Good to hear from you! I'll have a full-length video of the octopus, rays, and turtles soon. I have 30 minutes of fantastic footage of that octopus alone. Here is a "RU-vid Short" version of it if you haven't seen it: ru-vid.comIOsyJTc8p_I

@@ChrisChrisman That is awesome, I saw a couple in Hawaii but they were pretty shy, mostly hiding when I was watching em.

This was the holy grail for us. We've been looking for 20+ years for an octopus and also only saw a few hiding in the rocks. This one was in 3 feet of water. We did however swim right over one at Playa Rosario and I didn't realize it until I watched the video :(

Yes, MIlka is the best stocked grocery but disarmingly small...they have everything. Mayra is larger and has other items, about a block away. Costa del Sol is adequate but often short of items.

Thanks for all the great comments! They will definitely help some people out. I wish I knew this stuff before we went instead of driving all over the island looking for groceries.

for food, SUsie's is terrific. Dingy Dock is not fancy but does a great job. lots of fun. Too bad some fo the others have closed due to COVID disruption. If Harspoon's is still open - go there.

Susie's is terrific. I wish we would have gone more than once. We really liked Dingy Dock. Food was good, and sitting there right off the ocean was fantastic. Highly recommended. Unfortunately, we went at the height of COVID and a lot of places were closed. Also, one of the grocery store owners would make everyone wash their hands before the went into the store. Hadn't seen that before :)

rent the jeeps. Honestly, one of the biggest frustrations on Culebra is trying to drive up a hill behind a golf cart that is struggling to make it.

Too funny. I completely agree. Definitely get a jeep instead of a golf cart. It doesn't cost that much more plus you have somewhere to lock up your valuables. Fortunately, though there does not seem to be much crime in Culebra.

lol. We have been fortunate, but typically we are also very frugal. We save most our money for vacations. But if you are referring to the ferry, we definitely wanted to make sure we got to Culebra so we flew. I don't think we could have bought ferry tickets ahead of time. If I lived there, I'd definitely take the ferry to save money.

How easy to get a jeep?
@ChrisChrisman
@ChrisChrisman Год назад
We reserved a Jeep a few weeks ahead of time, but they said you don't necessarily need to make a reservation. There are two rental companies - we went with Carlos Jeep Rental. I'm sure both of them are good, though. I would make a reservation just in case. I don't imagine you will have a any problems renting. If you go, enjoy your trip. It truly is an incredible place. Let me know if you have more questions. I'm happy to help!
