Thank you so much for your hard work. I enjoy so much your videos, they are the sun of my life (with videogames, solo-boardgames and my dogs of course). Your video are the best because they show amiga games and I love that you chat with us. This gives a feel that I have a friend with me playing and discussing amiga games, or any games.

Thank you! Such kind and unexpected words... I'm glad that you treat it as such, as from my point of view it's exactly like that. My channel is small enough for me to be able to ready every single comment I get and actually respond to them all. And I like the interaction. We're all, after all, a big ol' retro gaming family. I don't have many friends outside of RU-vid that I could talk to about retro games as most people don't care about them. And I do, as they are part of what shaped me to be a gamer, a person, I am today.

PANZA KICK BOXING is the first and the best kick boxing game, I have ever played on my Amiga 500 as a kid back in the 1990's 😺👍🕹️ GOLDEN AXE is one of the best arcade conversions for the Amiga ever. I played it so many times completely, and got the inspirations for drawing the furry comic arts 🖋️🖊️✏️🖍️ 😺👍🕹️. PINBALL FANTASIES is definitely the best swedish 🇸🇪 pinball game since PINBALL DREAMS. I played both of these games on my Amiga 500 everyday 😺👍🕹️. TURRICAN II: FINAL FIGHT - absolutely amazing 😺👍. I still have it for my Amiga 500. There are three of the best space shoot 'em up games, i could definitely play on my Amiga 500: BATTLE SQUADRON, HYBRIS and SIDEWINDER 😺👍🕹️. PANG is one of the best arcade conversions, I have ever played on my Amiga 500. I still have it, and i could play it again sometimes 😺👍🕹️. ROD-LAND is also one of the greatest arcade conversions for the Amiga ever. I finished it once 😺👍🕹️. THE SECRET OF MONKEY ISLAND is one of the best classic point 'n click adventure games from LucasFilm / LucasArts Games 😺👍🕹️. "I'm Guybrush Threepwood, and i want to Be a pirate." 😹👍 THE SETTLERS is definitely a winner on the Amiga 😺👍. I still have it for my Amiga 500, and i kept playing it in the late 2010's 😹👍🕹️. Thank you once again, and i promise to keep playing the original Commodore 64 and Amiga 500 in 2023 😺👍🕹️.

Panza Kick Boxing is a new one for me. Looks pretty sophisticated? Hot take, Golden Axe gets tedious after a while. Come at me, internet! You have no idea how much time my mate Rob & me put in to playing Worms! Actually it was so much no one else wanted to play with us because we just destroyed them, then spent ages trying to defeat each other. I was very, very briefly excited for a Super Frog movie, until you said “& the mystery of fake news” darn you! Pretty sure spikes are everyone’s kryptonite aren’t they? 😄 How predictable are you? Was that a list of possible answers or did you just summon Bloody Mary?! Secret of Monkey Island is a masterpiece. No jokes, just straight up love for a truly fantastic game. Best description of Air Wolf ever! 😂 Genetic Species is a terrible title for an impressive game but yah, you need a serious system to run it well. Great video, thanks. The humour lands for me but arguing with yourself about which game should be first in many categories (& your back story for Lion Heart) does make me worry for your sanity? 😄
@OldAndNewVideoGames
@OldAndNewVideoGames Год назад
Panza Kick Boxing is amazing, there are like dozens upon dozens of real life kick boxing moves and before each fight you pick a set of few, and those are your moves set for the fight. You have to react to opponents attacks, and make your own strategically. It's a brilliant fighter but since there's no explosions or kill moves, and most fighters are near identical with some minor differences, it never gotten popularity it deserved. It's one of those games that today could've been incorporated as an e-sport. Well, honestly, most beat'em ups get tedious after a little while. ;) Amiga's Worms Director's Cut is Team 17's "farewell, so long, auf wiedersehen, goodbye" game for the Amiga. And it's an exclusive and the best version of the game before the Worms 2 was released. It's better than PC's versions of first title. But I suppose, you as a fan knew about it... Sanity? What sanity? ;) Also, it's probably those voiceovers were not as scripted as my usual are. Just a general thought of what I wanted to say and then I worked around it. For regular videos nearly everything's pre-written. Not 100% of what I say but at the very least 80-ish...

Well , best Amiga strategy was Dune 2 ... then Settlers ... Management sims, that's a though one , since this genre has underclasses like Sport Sim\Space Sim\Goods Sim, but mostly all would say Reunion ( also it should be mention that Theme Park on Amiga was a horrible missing features port , compared to the PC version ) ... in FPS well , all will say Cytadela (or Alien Breed 3D) ... Gloom , well it was more a tech demo then a proper fps ... Genetic Species was more a failed project, since they pushed it when the Amiga CD addon to Amiga 1200 was a thing ... And speaking about Amiga Exclusives well ... how about OnEscapee , a game thats 20x better the Another World (some years ago it was ported to PC) ... Super StarDust , the best asteroids clone ever made ... Hunter , the FIRST EVER MADE 3D SANDBOX GAME... Wasted Dreams , a Amiga CD exclusive adventure game that pushed the hardware to extremes ... same with " Code name Hell Squad " another Amiga CD exclusive adventure ... and i could go on and on ...

Pinball Fantasies was a top, top game when it was released - iconic even, but it hasn't aged really well. I played it a week or so ago for the first time in years - the slow and floaty ball physics especially let it down. Slamtilt is a significantly better game in more or less every way.

15:41 Woohooo. I realise I'm probably the only person you've heard of that doesn't like lemmings so Im glad something else won this category ;) Every single game on this list are also some my favourite amiga games. However, I now have a new game to play that I'd never heard of... "X-it". Puzzle games are generally my favourite type of game, so I'll be trying that out tonight (thats probably made the lemmings comment even more intriguing. I realise that XD). 35:15 My personal favourite RPG was a game called Bloodwych. A 2 player on the same screen game. As I originally only had a copy of the game, the first 5 or so times we played it without having the ability to save. We did manage to make it all the way through the full game, eventually killing the end baddie. I obviously went and bought the game but because my friend and I had gotten so good at it, we rarely needed to save anyway.
@OldAndNewVideoGames
@OldAndNewVideoGames 8 месяцев назад
I like Lemmings. I really do. But I don't think that they've ever been the best puzzle game. They may heave been an overall winner for the best game, as a package, but not necessarily a puzzle game. Though, my opinions are mins, so subjective, so... You know... They may not reflect what majority thinks. Yeah, Bloodwych was a genuinely interesting idea, mechanics-wise. And I would've loved to have someone to play it with back then. But most of my buddies did not dig RPGs. Oh, and the video's a year old, and the more of these I release for Amiga (and other systems too), remembering the titles from the past, the more I feel that those Top/Best old lists of mine should be remade. :)

Frontier - In my opinion, Frontier was an amazing tech demo, but a lousy game. Yo get anywhere without it literall taking years, you have to use time acceleration, and accelerate your ship to a ridiculous speed. However when you encounter a pirate ship, it drops you back to real time, but you're still traveling at around 90 million kilometers a second, meaning it's impossible to maneuver or even decelerate. Space battles are reduced to jousting matches as you and the other ship keep zipping past each other. Unless you lock the autopilot into the ship, and then it crashes into it. Even you start a fight near the station while you're still at maneuvering speed, the combat is nowhere near as enjoyable as it was in Elite. And while the movement of the planets and moons is quite impressive, it makes it virtually impossible to actually pilot your ship anywhere manually, because when you fast-forward time so that it doesn't take weeks to get somewhere, the planet will move from where it was and you'll be left chasing it. So you use the autopilot, which can somehow decelerate your ship instantly upon arriving at the destination, but is just as likely to crash you into the planet as it is to actually get you safely to the base. The domes and other structures on the planets look interesting, but they don't actually exist. You can fly right through them. Also, the blocks on top of the large cargo ships (like the one in the intro) aren't solid either. Then there are the bugs, like the passengers that won't leave your ship, or the solar systems that will instantly crash the game if you try to get info on them. Plus, the game was just unstable in general, at least the copy I had was. I'd load it up every now and then just to fly around and look at things and probably 90% of the time, it ended with the game crashing for some reason. For the record, I didn't care for the Amiga version of Elite that much either. I loved how fast and smooth the graphics were, but it felt simplified and dumbed down from the 8-bit versions. Only one type of space station, pirates are instantly marked as hostile allowing you to snipe them from a distance (in fact, I don't think I ever encountered any peaceful ships), Thargoids attack next to human pirates, and one time when a Thargoid followed me into the safe zone and I shot back at it, the police came out and attacked ME!

On Frontier also big issue was when you decided to speedup game and immeadiate "BOOM, crashed to face of planet with full speed" moments. They got old _really_ fast.

@@jothain Oh, I actually remember that. But wasn't it only an issue on slower systems? That the display sorta rendered what was happening slower than the CPU calculated, and when it finally catched up (on the speed up) you were crashing? I mean, I had A500, so hardly a beast, but I remember always docking and undocking on all planets by hand. Don't think I've done it cause of this though, I suppose it was because I wanted to "simulate the life in space". This is also the main reason why I played it in the first place, then First Encounters, Freelancer and eventually Elite Dangerous. It's that romanticised idea of surviving in gritty futuristic space. With all good and bad that it entailed.

@@OldAndNewVideoGames Yeah, to my knowledge it didn't happen on PC's.

Thank you! For now it's mostly oldies, but there will be some "newer" content at some point. I just want to cover all my classic bases first.
