Best of the Best is a 1989 American martial arts film. The film also starred Eric Roberts, James Earl Jones, Sally Kirkland, Simon Rhee and Chris Penn.
The plot revolves around a team of American martial artists facing a team of South Korean martial artists in a martial arts tournament. Several subplots pop up in the story - moral conflicts, the power of the human spirit triumphing over adversity and the meaning of life are some themes.
Best of the Best II is a 1993 martial arts film directed by Robert Radler, and starring Eric Roberts and Phillip Rhee. It is the first sequel to the 1989 film Best of the Best.

"Best of the Best" is one of the most underrated martial arts movies ever made. It's one of the few movies in general, that can make me cry. That medal exchanging ceremony scene gets me every time!

Eric Roberts was my favorite of 1and2. I just turned 65 and seeing him in that chair shot; well it just makes me feel older. I know Eric will never give up and out live me.

You forgot the kid actor who played the son. If you hadn't showed off the actor's twice you could have shown some of the other actor's who played the Americanteam fighters like the iltalian guy.

Nobody has done a Then and Now on Best of the Best 3: This movie has the best story of probably any martial arts movie ever and the action is pretty good, as well. The main villain was so evjI in that movie that he had a giant tattoo of satan on his body! Will you do that one?

Awesome! Although instead of repeating some of those minutes could’ve went to other cast members like Walter Grady played by Edan Gross, Korean fighter Yung Kim (who fought Sonny Grasso) and was also one of Dae Hans two men on Part 2, Tommy’s Grandma played by Betty Carvalho, Kane Hodder was both Burt and Backdoor man (although I would’ve winged it as the same guy cuz Backdoor never had a name; who was also ok 3). Stanley from part 1 was also on 2 as the catwalk lighting guy who tries to console Walter when Travis is about to die, “take it easy, just part of the show”.. would’ve loved your intake on part 3 and 4 as well.. and would’ve given video a double like.. Overall nice video but wanted to learn more of all the movies from your side and your opinions

Sonny Grasso and Walter? Last I heard, some sources say that the guy (David Agresta) that portrayed Grasso had passed away in 2013. Grasso was lowkey my favorite character from the movie even though he gave up them first 11 points to Korea lol

Thank you for the update. It's sad that most of them died and those alive but sickly is a shame. They worked so hard to being in these movies and to fall back into Hollywood could have been the beginning of their decline. The sadest was Eric Roberts. He was so gorgeous. It hurts to see him in a wheelchair. He's only a year younger than me but he looks 80. 😕😢🙏🫂💜

I loved Best of the Best so much until Best of the Best 2 came out. Best of the Best 2 is one of my all time favorite movies. It was just done so damn good. Underrated. It made me wanna become a fighter and what got me into boxing 🥊. I was actually getting really really good. To where I was about to be signed but 2 days before that I get a call finding out that I have Cancer. And that shit just ruined all my dreams. But even tho I couldn’t be a boxer I still listen to the best of the best 2 theme song cuz now I’m fighting a different fight. 🥊🎗️

Love this movie. I joined shadow Kong Ryu at the age of 7yo at the ymca 1986. Then I started to see tae kwon do come around in the city in northern Cali around 1990.

Two omissions...Edan Gross, who played Walter Grady, and the gal that played the "grandma" are both missing. I knew Kane Hodder was in the 1st film, but I didn't know he was in the 2nd one. He's probably best known for his role as Jason Voorhees in several of the Friday The 13th films. Other fun facts : Simon Rhee is in fact related to Phillip Rhee (Uncle), and Simon Rhee and James Lew both appeared (and died character-wise) in Lethal Weapon 4. Ralf Moeller is probably best known for his role as Brakus, but he also appeared in Universal Soldier as one of the Unisols. Sonny Landham is perhaps best known for his role as Sonny in Predator and Billy Bear in 48 HRs.
