Robert, this has stunning scenery. Thank you so much for making this video. A significant place to visit. And, a trip to add to the list, for certain. As someone who’s just getting into RVing and has some mobility issues, you really demonstrate to me where I could potentially be able to go. I always appreciate seeing all the detail you provide, from the drives, to the landmarks, to campgrounds. Thank you!!

Robert, this video made me so happy as a born and raised South Dakotan and big Traveling Robert fan (currently living in Austin, TX). Wonderful!!!! This is just so well done. You really hit the highlights well (with noted exceptions of Wind and Jewel Caves). So nice to see your experience in the Black Hills, especially including some of my favorites, Roughlock Falls (& Spearfish Canyon) and Sylvan Lake! As a fellow musician, I have to point out the soundtrack here as well. Driving To The East is another classic, and well used here! What did you think of the Crow Peak IPA? I remember it oh so fondly.

I've been to the Black Hills a bunch of times going back to the late 60s -- it's great to re-visit the area with you. You're right about Custer State Park having it all, the hike to Black Elk Peak is a real favorite of mine. Very cool to hear a snippet of the Marshal Tucker song "Can't You See" at 48:35! I get that Wall Drug doesn't do much for you, but hey, that picture of you on the Jackalope is priceless. Happy trails!

Robert unfortunately our generation (we are approximately the same age) is the last generation that was raised to leave no trace and have respect for nature and future visitors. It is a sad epidemic that has only become worse over the last 20-25 years.

I remember camping in Grant Grove as a child and getting patches as junior rangers. One of the main patches was achieved by picking up a bag of trash from the campground. It was tough back then to fill up the bag. People were alot more respectful back in the late 70’s early 80’s.

Mr. Robert I have a kind of long story for you. I would try to send this to an email but I want it public since it affected other people on here. It sounds like hooey but it's true. I'm a big Tallahassee fan of about 4 years maybe your vids have made my life richer. I don't know what I would've done w/o ur vids to travel by during the covid crud. A few Friday's ago. I had guests ( RV'ers From Lakeland/Bartow ) but I popped in for a min on the YT Chat feed while they got ready for us all to go eat. But then I went to the restroom for a few minutes. I came back and I saw my friend's very troubled brother leaving my office by the Jack and Jill door. He was not supposed to be in my office. My seat was warm. To my horror, I saw my name in a big Red box being fussed at by the YT room moderator for "pls don't make fun of other's names Mandy Simmons." I was like what the heck? When did I make fun of other people's names? I don't do stuff like that. I had never even seen that big Red box before! I was aghast. I thought maybe the scroll had simply been read wrong but sure enough I'd back scrolled and "Mandy Simmons" had lampooned 3 names in there of other chatters. I love all the clever names in there!! I entered the Twilight zone. But it dawned on me. In the time I'd gone for a few minutes the brother ( he was never invited to my house SHE KNOWS THAT NOW ) had sat down on my YT open page and had caused trouble for Me by being rude in just a few moments. I've never said anything rude to you or Mrs. Ely or Other fans and I would never. I'm sorry that happened. I was so mortified I went and got her and I'd showed her ( I lost it! ) but of course he denied it ( said I did not catch him in the act ) and he would not apologize. They left the next day. They had only stopped by to mooch dock for one night on their way to drop him off at a drug rehab. They had not asked me if it was okay to bring him with em. They know now to never bring him again. We are still friends but it was close. IT REALLY WAS NOT ME. My apologies to people in the room and to the Moderator. I know this all sounds like hooey but he does stuff like that. He has something called ODD ( Oppositional defiance disorder ) and a bunch of other problems and he got me for no other reason than he could even tho he was staying in my home. I had them keep him in the RV that night. I hope to join the Friday chat again and it will never ever be an impersonator of me again. Weird story yes I know but it's true. I was surprised my name was not blocked from the channel. I am so sorry and I hope you believe me and can forgive this very weird thing that occurred. Tallahassee fan...Non Mean Mandy Simmons Sorry.

Great video! You covered a lot of places that I've been but I missed a couple of things like the mine in Lead. I'm with you on Wall Drug. I walked through it like you did and just wasn't feeling it. Lines were long for the food or I would have at least eaten there. I have heard the food is good. Mt Moriah cemetery is a nice little historical stop for anyone visiting Deadwood. You can visit the graves of Wild Bill Hickok and Calamity Jane. There is a nice view of Deadwood from up there too.

Also, next time try to park at the Needles Eye Tunnel and see the actual Needles Eye Rock Formation. We walked the Sylvan Lake trail also - clockwise. The otherwise nice community I live I. Has a horrible roadside trash problem. The main culprit is alcoholic nips. Nips of all kinds discarded everywhere. We shouldn’t have to, but on hikes and walks I always take along a good sized trash bag and remove what I can. It feels pretty good dot make a small dent. Hopefully those that litter will see it and take notice, but I doubt it.
@1FlyingSolo1

Same here. Trash in the local parks and the roads near my development. Majority is beer cans and fast food packaging/bags, and and as you say, lots of those one shot plastic liquor bottles. I've learned to just bring a trash bag if I'm going to the park so I get my fresh air and do my good deed all at once. I've also even cleaned up the roadside trash a few times bc I got sick of seeing it every day during my commute.

Wonderful video. Very well done. I've been to these areas for the past four years. I hope to visit again this summer. I really enjoy your approach to introducing the sights. Years ago, all I wanted was to vacation near the ocean...until I went west. For me it is a spiritual experience. Wall Drug is said to be a tourist trap but I don't see it that way. They make home made cake donuts that are some of the best I've ever had. You definitely should try them. The two dining rooms are filled with original artwork depicting western themes. I could spend hours just enjoying the artwork. I look forward to viewing your other videos.

I missed seeing the eye of the needle on the Needles Highway in your show. You went past it several times. When we went to Deadwood, we went into the saloon where Wild Bill Hickock played cards and then to the cemetery where he and Calamity Jane were buried. We always stayed at Game Lodge campground at the beginning of the wildlife loop. Being in the park is magical! Each time is just grand and so memorable. Its hard to explain until u try it. You like the badlands and granted they are so unique but being in the hills is incredible. I couldn't stand to be where u camped, too many people and noise. We come for the quiet and solitude, drink in nature and being surrounded by the serene beauty. I hope u go back someday and try it for a few nights. You will see what I mean for yourself.
