It's weird how natural The Master's voice sounds coming out of Dr.O's wife considering we all got used to Dr.Girlfriend/Dr.Mrs.The Monarch as a main character. 😅
Orpheus talks about having to train to better understand the master. He uses the symbolism to show his points in a way to shock people into understanding
The Santa Claus one is my admittedly favorite. We see the master actually praise Orpheus (to an area) while at the same time telling him not to bust his teammates balls too bad.
"well tell it to the heiny Orpheus because it still thinks it's 1992." and "Hello, you all know me, I live in many of your closets" are The Master's two best lines in the show.
I feel the reason The Master keeps calling Orpheus his greatest student is because, no matter how much The Master degrades and endlessly tirades about Orpheus' shortcomings, Dr. O always manages to strive to find meaning in it all without falling into despair. We never know how strong we are until life makes giving up the easiest, most impossible-to-ignore option, and Orpheus refuses to give up on finding meaning in what life gives him.
actually I think thats what the horse was metaphorical for. the oni was connected to killinger and I wonder he wasn't trying to tell him this was a magic he couldn't mess with because its killinger.
As harsh as the master is to Orpheus, he definitely does respect him on some level, he’s genuinely helping him in his own way Quote the master, whom all magic entities look up to- including the outrider “You are my brightest pupil”, he seems nothing but thankful for orpheus on the halloween episode
He also basically tells him his life is a waste and that his important job isn't worth losing his hot wife over even though someone has to do it. He treats him like a door mat but does the sociopath thing where you give someone a backhanded compliment, "oh hey your wife left you, but at least you have powers that are worthless because your student can basically cheat the whole system, take your wife, have your daughter leave to learn magic under her mother, and basically just be a total badass while you're a walking doormat. But hey dude rocking that goatee." This character really only gives revelations that the characters already know and doesn't really help anyone other than Orpheus' daughter and that one zombie raising.
@@respectfullyrazerian2154 He respects him enough to at least help him and give him consul and give a bunch of hints on how the Outrider is more powerful. The headache and asking for aspirin bit was him trying to tell him about the Eye of Osiris. Also, The Master is an all-powerful God who keeps the cosmos in check, the fact that he even cared enough to train Orpheus shows that he respects him. Multiple times he tells him he's his best student and in the Halloween episode of all the magic users there he only says something to the degree of "I expected more of you"(even though Orpheus didn't participate in the spell). I mean Al can't even enter his realm and don't think the Outrider can either. Also he respects him enough to give counsel to his daughter as well and tell her to start her sorceress training.
Yeah I mean Orpheus' main problem was that he couldn't get over his emasculation from outrider and that he's a nerdy know it all. He has the drive and focus for magic he just needed a backbone to carry himself
@@Kagutsuchi I don't know if you're referencing the VA, but it's not Bowie, they actually made it a point to say that it wasn't him when he appeared on-screen the first time. But if you're talking about the character being Bowie they also ret-conned that. It was in the episode where the Sovereign starts kill all the council members iirc. They say something about he's not actually Bowie and later in the episode Dr. Mrs. The Monarch even asks him, "Who are you, really?"
@@MauiWowieOwie Oh, i know. I watched a special where they talked about the time they got bowie to do some voices for him, and told him to "just be yourself, not a character." The character itself is basically just how Bowie would act.
I love how it's hinted that The master both has a complete knowledgeable of history and screws around because it messes with peoples logical part of the mind. And that he is actually forced to use the image of Santa clause because it was the only holiday character that people believe in enough to have power on Halloween anyways. Which is why he says he doesn't have a lot of option and he has to stick with Santa's theme in order to keep channeling into the real world.
It's crazy how "the master" manipulates Trina on a level basically noone is aware of. He gives her the worst half of a worst case scenario, in order to keep her free from both distractions and anything that could challenge his control of her, namely love for Dean and their baby. He erases her memories, keeping his influence mostly subliminal, so Dr morphious doesn't find out "the master" has been eying his daughter to replace morphious himself.
Orpheus is the one wiping her memory. Though if "The Master" tells her this stuff knowing this it could be considered part of his plan. Still, I'd like to think it's just an exaggeration to get her to get away and out into the world. She's gifted and needed to at least learn about her options.
Here's what I think: The Master could indeed be doing this...or maybe he's just trying to make Triana confront what she's been avoiding. Overall it's valid to say he's manipulating her but at the same time it's not like Dean was a character that was full of development potential in that season he was still rocking the sweater vest. If ANYTHING Triana 100% letting go of her life in The Venture Compound made it easier for Dean to find his own identity. Him freaking out over Triana's sex life when nothing was even accurately said (not that it's any of his business) showed he had a lot of maturing to do. He went through his dark phase, which would lead him to his college phase, which sadly did lead him to making a mistake with Dean's girlfriend, but at the same time it felt like, a mistake that was a step backwards AND forwards: he finally found a healthy relationship that he could be intimate with...it just was his brother's girlfriend. The Master's vague goals are what make him such a fascinating character and to me while it's so valid to argue he was manipulating Triana behind Orpheus' back, he wasn't exactly giving her advice that was invalid. She wasn't going to use magic at her fullest potential living with her father, so it was up to her to decide whether or not that would be worth it. Because indeed, otherwise, living with Orpheus her horizons would be MUCH more narrow...
@@TECH097its because Doc Hammer got divorced and Triana was hastily written out of the show that season. its why the halloween special back pedals on the only time the master was actually wrong.
That part made me realize The Master most likely didn’t care if Al was gay or not. Orpheus just liked talking to him solo (riding the “best student” title pretty hard)
I'd want to learn under him, hang with him, and drink with him. The last part cause the guy is super chill and sometimes needs a break from the Orpheus family and everyone connected to them.
I just realized that headache tangent was a subliminal tell to us about how the Outrider found the loophole. The eye of Horus in his brain. Damn this show’s good rewatching or first watch.
[MAJOR SPOILERS HERE] But turns out though Rusty is also a clone too and he produced two otherwise healthy children (…physically anyway, mentally is a whole other story) so either this is just an artifact of the writers still trying to figure shit out or The Master was purposefully lying to Triana in order to steer her towards her true destiny Edit: Three children, I somehow forgot Dermott. Plus nothing about my comment was inaccurate but bare in mind it was written before Radiant Is The Blood of the Baboon Heart
@@TheDiscoGenre Eh yeah plus bare in mind that comment was released BEFORE Radiant which had some further reveals (also I for some reason forgot Dermott existed especially since he was the only one that was conceived “naturally”)
If the Santa thing is anything, then it shows that Orpheus is the Master's best student because he's the most sensible. Since he was downright furious as that the others would try to wake a horde of zombies.
