I am a proud owner of one of these very powerful machines, loved the video, no mistaking that distinct big bore two stroke sound!! 5th gear wheelies rule!
Elwood Blues my buddy had one years ago, I never got to experience the monster. Would love to find one some day. Just curious, what's the top speed on a stock one? I ride a 700xx but I bet this beast would make my quad feal like a toy.
Will they pull a wheelie in 5 th without sitting back or pulling on the bars I had a cr 500 it would pull like a monster wouldn’t have anything else after having the 500 cr I have been lost since selling the thing
I was given a Tri-Z minus carb, seat, and cables. Didn't realize they're a little rare compared to the 250r. Planned on fixing it up with my sons, ride it down the road once, and give it away. Those mid 80s rocket ships on unstable frames make me escared.
Klaani K no it's like having sex with a fiery hot woman that claws your back to shreds and rides YOU until you can't take anymore!!! That's what it's like.
You all prolly dont care at all but does someone know of a way to log back into an instagram account..? I stupidly lost the account password. I would love any assistance you can offer me
Maravilloso el sonido y la potencia de la quadzilla LT500 me fascina también ese color amarillo clásico combinado con el azul, saludos desde cali Colombia ⭐⭐
I used to AMA race quads, started on a Honda 250r 2 stroke then moved to a Honda 440 EX (bored 40 over, not a misprint). I got to ride a 1989 LT500 and Ima tell you what, nothing, and I mean NOTHING can touch these things. They have so much torque and power there is no way I'd ever even consider racing one of these on a typical AMA track, unless I had a death wish lol. Seriously though, these things were serious beasts.
@@harpchicken3248 Banshee is i believe a 350 cc? I've riden a few and while MPH might not be a huge, and I seem to remember top speed of the Zilla at 80 stock. But the torque is where the huge difference is between a Zilla 500 and a Banshee. I have seriously seen people fall off a Zilla when the torque pull from 0 to 80 is unrealized.
I seen one of these out run an I roc Z back in 1990 or 91. I believe the quadzilla name came from a popular magazine article back then. I remember reading it and the name stuck. I had the luxury of riding a 250r 3 wheeler, a banshee, a raptor, and the quadzilla. The quadzilla being the best.
I remember when I was 4 and my dad put me on his quad and we pulled a wheelie so quick ever since then I be been waiting for when it’s going to be mine
I had a pristine '86 250 that was an absolute animal. Sold it when my daughters figured out how to start it on their own. God I miss it. Bought them dirt bikes instead
Yea a 350 four stroke warrior basically! 700cc would have smoked him! I have road them all and nothing outruns the 700 in a straight line! Closest thing is some of the big 1000cc 4x4’s that’s been modified they pull hard on the straight to but yea man these ain’t that fast! Basically they have about the same hp as a raptor 700 but the raptor has it doubled on torque which means it’s a far stronger engine that will move you along a lot quicker and faster! But for a 80’s machine they where un real back then but make no mistake shit has got faster! And I should be biased as o just bought a new Suzuki GSX-S1000 sport naked! She’s a beast you wanna talk about torque holly crap never seen a bike that pulled like a diesel truck! From 2k Rpm it’s already pulling hard like far more then any other bike I ever seen! Even the busa doesn’t pull that hard at low revs it’s crazy!
They can't make badass shit like this anymore cause people are idiots and kill themselves on it, then sue the company.. Too bad... Now we are stuck with wussey 250's and 450's and have to pay a fortune to make them fast.
Jim Dandy not to mention when the 450 & 350 banshee 4 chokes need a new top end or even worse a top to bottom rebuild these 4 smoke junkies better have wealthy parents or a really good job to pay to fix the 4 jokes? 2 strokes rule especially the big bore smokers!!
I love the sound of a Banchee BUT this bike has its tongue in my ear. I remember this beast back in the 80s Yet back then Suzukis had a bad reputation for no reason. Now all these years later and everyone wants one.
They sure were fun to ride. I wished they made a 4x4 version. But damn that headache after listening to it all day. Especially when your buddy in front of you has a loud ass pipe. Rode with earplugs most of the time.
That things savage. I would wake up at 6am, Go out to the hills, Climb the tallest hill and cut the bike off,Relax and enjoy the scenery from above while smoking 🚬 a doobee on Parole not giving a F. Ah, Damn i miss them days.
Been watching these quadzilla videos for some years now and funniest thing is that most four stroke drivers can't drive two strokes. They are so young (mostly) that they never even tried or heard of them before. Soooo many videos they don't rev it enough. In this video were quite good drivers though. But i can't blame them, these are ancient history.
My buddy had one. At launch you had to hang on tight or the machine would come out from under you. Hook the tires up and it had scary power in first and second. After that it just was super fast.
Great quads they did have some motor issues tho. Ive got a trx 250r and it handles like a dream..plently of big bore kits to get them into this power range and still be nimble.
Back in the day what was called a "Quadzilla" was the 500 engine in a 250 chassis, had a friend that raced them all the time and it was scary to ride that thing.
They had a 500 just not based on this motor. This motor had issues. 87 were really bad. Not well engineered. Gear ratios and powerband did not work well together. They were still MUCH faster than a 450r
They're fast, I love the big bore 2 stroke song, but they're not as violently fast as newer bikes like the renegade 1000 or scrambler 1000. I've tossed a few zillas around and a renegade 1000. After the ride on the can am my knees where knocking. "Not literally, lol". The Renagade has explosive power from top to bottom, rip the bars out of your hands power. Either way I need a LT 500 for my collection. Very impressive bikes. They look good, they smell good, and you can't beat that RINNGGG!! A TINNNG TINNNG TINNNG! Of a two stroke!
I rode my friends fathers lt5 back in the day. You didn't as much ride it as point it and pull the trigger so to speak. Only place it was really at home was the dunes.
Todd Simone the 500 smokers aren't top end motors like 250 or 125. that is dictated primarily by the length and shape of expansion chamber. tons of torque tho
Had one of these but took out the suzuki engine and added a full moded cr500 engine then it really ran good could pack the wheels from the bottom of chokecherry to the top at Saint Anthony IDAHO.
Beautiful bikes! But I think I'll keep my 1000cc raptor thanks. I like my 150 crank hp, compared to what 60hp tops? But the looks of these things are nuts.
