Fuck... thank you sir!!! Everyday I wait for a RU-vid comment to help ease the suffering, i might keep myself alive for a bit longer because of you 😂😂🤣🤣
Uncle Rico is one of the most tragic characters of all time. I used to laugh at his antics as a kid but now they're just poignant and depressing. I should have had a better life too Uncle Rico...I feel you brother....
I felt bad watching oz, one of the guards was getting scouted by the Sacramento kings after playing a game with an nba star prisoner played by Rick fox. The prisoners were all betting on the game so a guy sliced his Achilles before the rematch and gave him a permanent limp. He had to keep working at the prison and he got placed on desk duty because he couldn’t move that good
"Back in 82', I used to be able to throw a pig skin a quarter mile"....this part always cracked me up so much. That is roughly 4 1/2 football field lengths. Dude must have had a hellova arm back in High School.
As silly as this movie is, the actor that plays Uncle Rico is absolutely amazing. I mean he’s crazy talented in the way that you actually BELIEVE that his character is a real person. Those eyes at 0:50 just dreaming into the mountain range. I mean when do we see this sort of acting really? Ridiculous film (I loved it!) but completely underrated acting by these pros.
Agreed, Uncle Rico has always struck me as such a deeply tragic character. A really solid presentation of unfulfilled dreams. There must be thousands of Uncle Rico’s out there :(
Love how Uncle Rico equates 'cyberspace' with time travel. Practically every crazy uncle on Earth believes cyberspace is a place you could physically visit.
@@randomzen924 yep! those uncles who don’t lean into technology. I’m 39, uncle to nieces and nephews, I’m right there with them on the basics of tech in general. It’s awesome to be able to have conversations with them and not be clueless.
0:56 this is my absolute favorite gag in the whole movie and no one ever talks about. After all that speech, it cuts to Kip and he wasn't even listening. I love it and I love how subtle it is. Any other comedy would have had Rico pointing out that Kip isn't even listening, over doing the gag. I love this movie!
It's the subtle nuances that make this movie so incredible. It's been one of my favorites since the moment it came out. No one else got it except me it seemed, and I found it hilarious. Now I come to the comments of ND vids and I know I've found my fellow weirdos.
He went pro as an actor in a heartbeat and has made million's of dollars.....probably living in a big 'ol mansion somewhere and at any given time, soaking it up in a hot tub with his soul mate.
ThePatriots010304: There really are a lot of people like that who were screwed in highschool. Many small towns have names where their kids starts no matter what. I didn’t play QB In highschool because I was a WR (lead the whole wpial in WR) but the QB who did start was only starting because his name...we had way better QB’s than him but the coach was never going to take him out. So for every small town it probably has happened at least once where a back up could of drawn scouts and got a full ride. The town I’m in has had 3 pro football players come from our team in the past 10 years because they got a different coach who cares less what someone’s name is. The next town over (5 minutes away) has produced some nfl legends like Ty Law, Tony Dorsett and I know I’m forgetting someone. The next town up from there is where Mike Dicka went to school and played, plus right across the river is where Joe Namath played. We have had a lot of HOF’ers in my area.
I rented this movie on a whim when it first came out and watched at 3am after a friend had crashed, hadn’t laughed that hard in ages. Absolutely classic movie.
Man... this scene makes so much sense now that I'm older, I didn't understand it when I was young, Uncle Rico was just fantasizing... about how his life could've been better, this movie is way more real than I thought it was when I was little, I guess I can say to my past self... _"There was alot you didn't know about, Young Dylan."_
It’s funny how that goes. The same thing happened to me when I saw Predator as a kid then as an adult, all of the muscles and bad ass military stuff seems so obvious. Same thing with the lunch scene in Jurassic Park. It was the most boring scene to watch as a kid but now as an adult, it’s one of my favorite moments in the movie.
at 0:35 when he is talking about how is life could of turned out, I always feel sad for him because that look at 0:51 is so genuine it's something I felt in life myself for what I hoped my life could have been. What an amazing acting scene
The steak toss scene is so flipp’n hilarious!! especially when U.Rico chuckles after hitting Napoleon - he is so proud & hyped up afterwards his ego makes believe he can do the impossible! 😂🤣😂
One of the most underrated scenes is the free “mini sailboat” gift with the purchase of the 24 piece set of tubaware. It’s like offering a free dollhouse with the purchase of a set of cookware. Pure comedic genius.
The message of this movie is to be true to yourself Napoleon is true to himself and gets the girl and impresses the school Kim is true to himself and gets the girl Rico wants to be someone else and it causes him trouble, when realistically he's a brilliant salesman and could have done well if he believed in his own strengths
I have my NCAA playoffs baseball game i was in. Had a great game too! Any time i show the game to someone, i feel like uncle rico. I also feel shorted. Was our best underclassman, got cut after hitting .750 in our scrimmages in my senior year. Never touched the field after my playoff performance. Very frustrating. Had lots of heart, always gave an honest effort and was ruthlessly tactical.
Everyone in this film was perfectly cast. The couple he was selling the 24 piece set to were great. And his wife. “I want that.” And how does the dealio sound?
Funny thing as a Teenager I really felt a lot of sympathy for Uncle Rico when I watched this I was in my Senior Year of High School and I knew how close I was to having to deal with the Real World
I saw this movie in theaters in 2004 when I was 11 years old and I remember thinking how sad and funny Uncle Rico was. Little did I know that, for many years, 2004 itself would end up being for me what '82 was for him. But these past couple years I've really come around and come into my own in a way that surpasses even that time. Don't ever think it's too late to rise again or that your best time has to be in your past, people. Life's too precious to peak early without a fight.
The actor who played Uncle Rico didn't eat red meat, despite the character canonically loving steak. You'll notice anytime he is eating steak in the movie it cuts before he is done chewing, this was so he could spit out the meat.
