This was unmistakably the best of the Nicktoon revivals on Netflix. It’s well produced, captures the charm of the original series, and, most importantly, expanded the original series by adding new dimensions to the characters and new concepts to explore. I would LOVE for this to continued, as the creators clearly not only still have the passion to do more, but also have tons of fresh ideas to explore.

I never knew I could get experience nostalgia this concentrated until now.

The animators on the original show have said that this was the hardest cartoon animation style they ever had to learn. The producer had to reach the animators how to draw in this particular style.

Zim isn’t that heartless he named each robot and cared for them XD

I loved the original series but I couldn't watch much of this movie. They took out the dark themes and humor. the shadows arent even dark. And they should have more cinematic dramatic shots during the over-exaggerated moments like in the original series. Animation just feels like a downgrade and writing was actually focused more on being kid friendly

The two best quotes of the movie where professor membrane... The not scientifically possible scene, and the scene where he said "as a child I thought sharks were my friends... I know better now"

To be fair, you have to have a very high IQ to understand Invader Zim. The humour is extremely subtle, and without a solid grasp of theoretical physics most of the jokes will go over a typical viewer’s head. There’s also Zim’s nihilistic outlook, which is deftly woven into his characterisation- his personal philosophy draws heavily from Narodnaya Volya literature, for instance. The fans understand this stuff; they have the intellectual capacity to truly appreciate the depths of these jokes, to realise that they’re not just funny- they say something deep about LIFE. As a consequence people who dislike Invader Zim truly ARE idiots- of course they wouldn’t appreciate, for instance, the humour in Gir’s existential catchphrase “WAFFLES!,” which itself is a cryptic reference to Turgenev’s Russian epic Fathers and Sons. I’m smirking right now just imagining one of those addlepated simpletons scratching their heads in confusion as Jhonen Vasquez’s genius wit unfolds itself on their television screens. What fools.. how I pity them. 😂 And yes, by the way, i DO have a Gir tattoo. And no, you cannot see it. It’s for the ladies’ eyes only- and even then they have to demonstrate that they’re within 5 IQ points of my own (preferably lower) beforehand. Nothin personal kid 😎
