He also had a video were he talked about the AW3423DWF when first released as it had a few problems but that was addressed in firmware updates. Tim knows monitors. Its simple when it comes to the AW3423DWF, its the best value 3440x1440 oled monitor. Thats all he is really saying and will continue to say it unless somethings gets cheaper....
Awesome work on all of the recent videos Tim! I can tell you're really loving the ROG Swift PG32UCDM, but can you give reference to if a video will be made about the Aorus FO32U2 or FO32U2P? It's a few hundred dollars cheaper depending on if you get the Display Port 2.1 capable version, and more importantly available for pre-order online without having to pay scalper price. Would love to know how it stacks up. Thanks!
I did the same with the MSI. Its 200 cheaper than the alienware and 450 less than the asus. The alienware was backordered and I'm not a fan of curved screens.
I got the Alienware because I didn’t want to wait since it was the first to come out and I love it I actually like the curve don’t even notice it. All great options similar performance if any just personal preference
For the price / cost here in the UK, especially for gaming, the AW3225QF for 4K OLED is the only way to go, for a few reasons, it's general availability, and it's cost, it's £300-500 cheaper than its competitors and can usually be picked up right now, while the ASUS, LG and MSI variants aren't available or even released yet, back to the cost though it is a huge saving for something with like-for-like performance and a good feature set.
not to mention the vastly superior warranty (advanced exchange) I have dealt with ASUS and MSI for motherboard RMAS and it was such a painful experience I have never purchased their products again.
In Slovakia there's only 3 monitors available and only on order right now: Alienware AW3225QF for 1069€, MSI MPG 321URX for 1399€ and ASUS ROG Swift PG32UCDM for 1669€. The Asus also has some bad reviews for text clarity. The Alienware is the no-brainer here.
@@zanfox Nice :) I'll have to wait a year or so to have enough saved up to buy one. :D And even then I may end up buying a 34" VA Ultrawide for 450 instead just to save money. :DD
honestly ! - my Omen x27 with at best 0.72ms and 1.77ms GtG for me it's not that much of a difference because on overdrive fastest' on a great TN, without any mistakes in picture to see. shurely wqhd and especially the polarizer can not compare with OLED reaction-time-wise i didn't missed much, also in terms of black-levels tho and IPS is no gaming monitor as i have seen may the asus 360hz could be but seriously i don't believe
After watching your videos regarding OLED Monitors I got a good deal on Samsung Odyssey OLED G8 for 800 euro in Europe and I can honestly say that I cannot go back to LED/LCD. The colours are so beautiful and 175 fps is more than enough for me. Regarding Burn-In I guess we'll live our lives and see how it goes in a couple of years. All the best and thanks for your videos!
@@ivanpetrov7379 I got it for 800 € and the other ones were 900+ €. Plus it has the Samsung OS with all the Smart Apps so when I’m done using it or I upgrade I will use it as a TV because it also has decent speakers and a remote. The cables - Mini Display and Mini HDMI - are not a big issue for me. I paid 10 € for a 3m Mini-Display cable. But I only did this because of my setup where my PC is far from me. The monitor comes with a 1.5m Mini Display cable in the box. Either way you go, whatever you choose, OLED monitor changed my life. If you can afford it, I highly recommend getting any OLED monitor. The colours are so beautiful and crystal clear. I will never go back to LED/IPS etc… All the best!
the Gigabyte AORUS FO32U2P and AORUS FO32U2 released in europe with the P variant (the one with DP2.1 UHBR20) being 200 euro more than the AORUS FO32U2/ASUS PG32UCDM/MSI MPG321URX all of which are priced at 1.5k euro atm. but i have not see a single review for the Gigabyte models
Realistically the ASUS goes for 1700 to 1800. I think the ASUS Store had a sale running selling a few for 1400 but those have been sold out for weeks now. Also the Gigabyte versions seemingly were the only ones you could actually buy for a few days, the rest seems to be sold out since the initial shipment.
So to answer this, I had the samsung oled g8 before but sent it back because of coil whine. Both of them definetly are super good monitors with butter smooth reaction times, crytal clear pictures, lively/vibrant colors (in gaming! The desktop and apps not so much especially when using hdr but thats just current limitations of these monitors as far as i understand). Only downside is the alienware is closer to my face as the samsung one was further back, might get a new table just because of this xd (Though this is a super Personal "downside" which i coud have researched beforehand). So all in all, for the price of 850€ (i live in germany) im satisfied and dont think i will buy a new monitor for atleast 5 years+. For comparison i was using 1920x1080 @75hz before. The difference is night and day i cannot go back, ever. I say this as i had to go back for a few days after sending the g8 back.
Hope your experience has been like mine. I LOVE my DW It’s just an amazing monitor worth every penny. I am interested in ASUS PG34 or 39 for 240hz I need to do more research before I choose or wait till something better comes out.
What about the lg 27gs95qe? It is an improved gr95qe with higher brightness and NO abl! I bought it for 800€ and it's absolutely great! So far no complaints (if you don't care about the matte coating)
For the same price the Dell Alienware AW2725DF has better warranty (3 vs 2 years, no send-in fee), can go up to 360 Hz (niche use case), and has a flat stand (personal preference). So, on paper there's not much difference.
@@shinyhappyrem8728 where I live the alienware is much much more expensive 1100€. For the price I paid, it was the best value for money Oled. But I agree that the alienware has more features and better performance overall.
I'm kindly asking for a mini-LED version of this video (especially for 1440p resolution) as OLED is often beyond the budget of most users. Another topic I'd like to see explored more in this channel is monitor choice for product design / engineering applications. Oftentimes reviewers only consider video editing / content creation as the sole productivity workflow; it would be refreshing to see that description expanded. Thank you for the great content and exhaustive testing results.
Curious why vrr flickering isn’t mentioned in any of these oled reviews? Just purchased the AW2725DF and considering going back to lcd. I have to disable gsync to eliminate flickering on oled.
Yeah, the "value" proposition is still a bit high for me. I'd personally be fine with 1080p 144 Hz if it meant dropping that price tag even further. Initially I'm planning my next PC upgrade (including my monitor, still chugging along on a TN panel) to be right around GTA VI's PC release, so surely 5+ years should be enough time... right?
@@anna94ktry 8+ years when you have more than just LG and Samsung making the panels. The yields for oleds have gotten much better but the supply issue still exists. You will need to see more companies making their own panels to see those numbers.
The constant use of lakes from Banff National Park is amazing. Having once lived there I can attest that these pictures do not do justice, but I know why they use them for most monitors. The colours are just amazing!
Got my AW3423DWF like a month ago. I was debating whether to get it or to wait for the PG34WCDM for the extra hz but considering how the prices in my country are i went with the AW plus i didnt feel like waiting any longer. Boi did i make the right choice because the PG arrived in my country and its $770 more than the AW which i got for $855, almost twice the price for just 75 more hz, Insanity!
I got it from Best buy with the plans of returning it. Just to try it out and I'm stuck now cause I didn't expect to fall in love with it. I do not wanna return it.
I love my QD-OLED. the only thing I want at this point is for LG TVs to start supporting 240Hz, which will be a while since they just started 144Hz. I'd love nothing more than a 55 inch OLED 24) Hz TV.
In Australia the 4K MSI, Gigabyte and LG models are all $2200, but the Alienware AW3225QF is $1519. Anyone know why there would be such a massive price difference for basically the same panel? Thinking I'll get the Alienware and save myself close to $700
I'm waiting for this time next year so I can build fresh. New complete setup for a new house. This content has been great for keeping up to date on monitors, something I used to find very cryptic before the likes of mub and rtings. Cheers!
What do you think of Philips Evnia's 32:9 OLED? Is its HDR1000 mode's calibration firmware fixed yet? Are its Amblight leds really too low brightness? Have you checked it out outside of videos?...
Hi! Great videos! Why is no1 talking about Philips Evnia 49inch Qd-Oled? Isnt that a good competitor to Samsungs G9 in the Ultrawide segment? Can’t find any indept comparisons on it.
high there, i know this comment is a month or more late, but just wanted to ask if u got any suggestion for good quality OLED screens around the 42" mark thats good for PC/gaming
I’m actually surprised you picked the $1300 ASUS QD-OLED over the LG $1400 WOLED. I’m curious if your opinion would be different if the LG was $1190? For me the finish on QD-OLED that raises black levels to a pinkish gray is just a non-starter for me.
QD-OLED generally produces better color even though the quantum dot layer reflects ambient. WOLED can lose saturation at high brightness which can make it feel far less vibrant. So for dark rooms QD-OLED is generally preferred, WOLED may be more ideal for when the room is already bright and you need brightness at the expense of saturation & to reflect as little of ambient as possible.
Thanks, I just nabbed the Alienware AW2725DF on sale on Amazon right now for $200 off Picked it up for the missis cause she's been heaps jelly of my OLED so now we both have one ;)
Someday... 3840X1600... QDoLED. Don't want to go back at 34inch... i had one, and still had one for my second screen... the lack of height make so much difference... the 39'' model that is coming is lacking cauz they use 3440X1440p so we're loosing on pixel density...
I am using the Philips Evnia 49m2c8900 for almost 3 weeks now which uses the same panel and speed as the Samsung Odyssey OLED G95SC. Would love to see Monitor Unbox review this Model, so far it has surprising good sound quality and VESA CMR 13000. Downside for me so far the menu and gimmicky remote which is better then the button on backside. Keep these updates love them 🙌
would you able to or are planning to do a video on the new LG 27GS95QE-B which is an improvement over the previous GR model. Been sitting on fence for quite some while but there are no credible enough videos which go in as much detail as your channel usually does.
@Coodiie the major difference i see is GR model hai better HDR rating and brightness levels for new GS are better. Most of the reviews out there only focus on one aspect. This guy really goes in nitty gritty of things.
This is a great video i've been looking forward to. A question about the G9, should I wait for the new g9 version to come out or buy the current one for around 1300usd
Would you still suggest the none smart version of the G9 "G93SC"? Thinking of picking it up but I've heard you don't have access to Gsync but can I still utilise the AMD Freesync with an nvidia GPU?
The best value is definitely the 48 inch LG Ultragear, though not a 2024 release. They have been on sale at LG for $700 for over a month now. 48 inch, 4K OLED, higher peak brightness than a lot of the other OLED options, 138Hz with G-Sync. Great value if a huge monitor is your thing.
There are some ON RU-vid, but I Guess since its only an Update to the gr Version, Most people skip IT, sadly. Cause the gs Looks great what i have Seen so far.
Did u ever test the LG 45GR95QE ? would like to get a Big 21/9 aspect ratio monitor and i think there is no bigger oled gaming monitor in this aspect ... thanks. I would have gone with the oled g9 you advise but its 32/9 so losing some height compared to 21/9
I have Neo g9 and i wanted to buy g9 Oled. But height its low for me and oled g9 have less curve so you need to put a bit far away from you so it will have less height. So now im gonna buy Lg Ultragear 45.Ppi is low but a lot of people dont have problem with that + you can use DLDSR so its not a problem at all.New model will have 5120x2160 and new pixel layot for better text clarity but its only 165hz and around 2000$.
Tried the Alienware AW2725DF and I got bad headaches after 20 minutes. Tried lots of fixes and nothing helped. Might have to try WOLED. I have an XPS 15 with an OLED, samsung OLED phone, and LG OLED TV and never had any problems.
Been following the HW Unboxed for a couple years and this one since it was created. Always a pleasure to watch your videos Tim, keep it up. P.S. Buying the AOC AG276QZD in the near future. Hope the latency won't be much of an issue 🙏
Hello guys ! great work as usually ! can you please tell us when you will review the AORUS F032U2P please ! i dunno which one to buy the aorus one or the asus one ? thanks !
@@AFGixxeR88 I did, but I wanted the speakers, the 480Hz mode, and the anti-reflective properties of the LG. I enjoy plenty of ambient light and use the monitor for work and gaming.
Hi Guys. Is there any chance you guys can recommend an OLED monitor for both gaming and work? Or address this situation? I'm in IT and do both with my computer all the time. Currently, I have a Gigabyte M32U - with the extra feature of KVM. Which means I can plug in my MacBook Air very easily for work and switch to my gaming computer very easily. Thank you in advance.
Does LG have plans to release any new WOLED panels? perhaps a 1440p 360hz to match QD OLED? Would it be best to wait and see or just go for the MSI model now if you can find it for sale
it would be cool to see some 40" and above gaming displays as well, i am really looking for a HDR 40"+ gaming monitor and cant find any with at least 1000L peak brightness
i often just browse the web or watch yt on my monitor for hours, in my case would you recommend the neo g7 over 4k oleds? a lot of ppl say burn in doesnt happen that easily but would that apply for cases such as mine aswell? i was thinking of the c3 42" but i dont have that much space or possibilities for proper distance. the aw3225qf appeals the most to me, but its 1,2k€ and hard to find aswell the neo g7 32" ive heard comes close to oled+ no risk or worry about burn in and i can also get it 600€ from the amazon return stuff. reduced from 800€ just for having scratches on the back or missing a cable or its stand. been trying to decide for so long..
If you can get it for 600$ i say do it. It's a great monitor. If you can afford a QD-OLED, it's even better. 3 year burn in warranty on most models. They won't offer that unless they are pretty sure it will not happen to the majority of buyers, so i wouldn't worry about it. The newest QD-OLEDs have several protection features like auto-dimming of static features like windows task bar, that prevent burn in.
@@celsus7979 would you say the new qd oleds look significantly better than the neo g7s mini led? i obviously would prefer the aw3225qf and i could save up and buy it(if finally in stock somewhere) but im wondering if the diffrence is worth paying 600€ more
As a 32:9 user and ex, 21:9; i Will buy a 16:9 with 42" or more. It's less of a pain in the ass and basically every indie game supports that aspect ratio
I know you commented 5 months ago, so you might not see this, but how has it performed so far? Can I ask what specs u have with it? Me personally I have a 7900 gre and 7800x3d, so I’m just wondering if I’m able to use the monitor to its full potential, even if it’s just on less demanding games like valorant or overwatch
@@youknow7294 hello, so far the monitor have been perfect. no burn in even without anti burning mesures like hide task bar etc, hdr content is rly good looking. I have to nothing to say against this monitor, apart that its rly good and is probably the best product i ever bought for my gaming journey. Talking about the frequency, i can hit 360fps constant in very low settings in overwatch (5800x + rtx 3070) Next step for me is changing my pc but im waiting 2025 so i can do 9950x3d + 5090 :3 but overall, im very happy about the monitor , and i recommend it to anyone who wants an oled monitor. Especially a 27inch 1440p 360hz, because next generation will be 480hz and i dont think the gap is that insane.
The g9 has a lot of issues with DisplayPort on the NVIDIA cards as well. If your running a game in full screen on steam then exit the game all you get is a black screen you rather have to unplug the the cable or hit alt-win-B for the monitor to get signal again.
The Alienware also has eARC allowing me to get Atmos out of my 3090 and soundbar along with Dolby Vision so that seals the deal for me. I'm just waiting for it to hit Amazon.
Monitor pricing is all over the place globally , depending on the region . FE , your best value pick is more expensive than the best 2k high refresh recomendations in Greece atm ..
I had a 2012 gaming laptop I used for years that was backlit "superbright plus" led idk what it was about it but even at lower fps it looked better than anything I've ever had since. In terms of smoothly tracking enemies in games being able to get dozens and dozens of headshots consecutively I feel like it was a magic mix of specs fps latency refresh rates etc. I'm hoping upgrading to an oled gaming monitor gives me that smooth snappy experience I remember back
@@hughjassstudios9688 It was the Samsung Gamer 7 "700G7C" probably the last "gaming" laptop Samsung ever made. I loved it so much I bought 3 of them, one in black, and two of the Lamborghini yellow special editions (from Hong Kong?) with Samsung 3d glasses capabilities in the screen(don't care though never tried it) Problem is one of them is suffering from dead fans and overheats(you cannot get to the fans unless you entirely disassemble the laptop and it is an impossible feat it's like they started from the fans and built outward.. My Lamborghini yellow ones I sold one to a friend and he played it facing his girlfriends laptop for weeks battleship style and fried it from overheating. My one that was in perfect order slipped off my bed and I believe the screen is busted. I'll turn the laptop on and within a half hour (if I'm lucky enough to get the screen to turn on at all) the screen will eventually flicker and bug out and go black. As these laptops are incredibly impossible to work on I will probably never repair them but never say never I guess, my job allows me a lot of tinkering time. Specs might still be available online I believe the screens were only 60hz but maybe 120hz on the yellow ones? I would get the yellow one out on the desk occasionally to play some fps's because the enjoyable visibility of enemies and snappiness I mentioned before. On low settings obviously because of the outdated gpu and cpu. The only other thing though was that they were all running a de-bloated windows 7 that I swore by until I was fatefully forced to windows 10 a year or two ago. How much difference this made in the performance of the laptops I may never know but I had definitely considered grabbing some ssds, popping some fresh os's on and testing out the laptop for my own curiosity but that's when quite literally a month ago my prized remaining good one slipped off my bed when I was getting its charger plugged in. A couple times a year I'd find one that looked practically new in box on eBay for 100-$300 but its very rare now unfortunately. Further the black one was Nvidia, the yellow was Radeon which was the other reason I started suspecting the monitor had something to do with it(as both performed the same if not the yellow slightly better). Is it possible my graphics settings were also some kind of perfect balance too? I've pondered a lot of these things. It just seems like nowadays even on a fresh install on the most powerful machines I get blur, feelings of choppiness or frame drops but on those computers it just felt like 0.1 latency all around just pure butter. At any rate I'll stop there happy gaming my friend sorry for the absolute non-brevity! haha
I am waiting on the 27" RGWB, 1440p, 480 Hz Panels, that are supposed to come out around the end of the year. If it actually fixes the text clarity issue like they say it will; I will be getting a new Monitor for Gaming and Work at the end of this year.
I really want to get Asus PG32UCDM but it is sold out everywhere. I might end up with the LG 4K option. I heard the matte screen is not too much of an issue.
Could you test backlight PWM in your reviews using tools like Opple Lightmaster 3? I get CRT like headaches and blurry vision every time I watch oled screens longer than 15mins. I'm using Asus PG32UQ with Dithering and FRC disabled and no issues with my vision.
Best value OLED AG276QZD: + 1440p is ideal gaming resolution for clear vision without sacrificing too much fps like with 4K which will struggle to reach 240fps in many AAA games. - Movies and series are generally in 1080p or 4K - Productivity work is easier on 4K 32 inch as it allows you to split many windows in one display and still be able to read text on each window easily
I might be looking for a new 4K monitor around 43" this spring, so I'm curious what's best these days around that size. 32" and smaller is just too small for the resolution, so not of interest at all. But it being OLED is not a necessity as this will be connected to two PCs where one is for gaming, the other just for desktop usage.
The first one he mentions, ASUS 32inch 4K QD-OLED, has everything you can ask for. Deep blacks, vivid colors and incredible sharpness at 8 million pixels.
As far as i know all the new models have a high refresh rate. If you don't like the ASUS, there are other brands using the same Samsung technology that the ASUS uses. Minimal differences but a different look.
Switched from Asus pg27aqdm to Alienware3423dwf a few days ago - it was worth it for the glossy coating and QD performance. But in the end a 27“ 4K 240hz will be my dream
not for me - known i had 240 Hz for 3 years now - it happend like i had to expect also - that 240Hz is no better on Oled. office quality for me, cause in games 480 or 520? that the asus e-tn has - is exactly that better like in all UFO tests shown. 480 would be good (for real) for anyone comming from a thousand Hz. And that's the difference from 480 to 240. 240 is not 'there' in terms of 'could'nt get any better'. Have that for 3 years - and you know what i mean.
I would love to see some recommendations for display cables in order to properly run these frames at 4k. Given you have the rig to do it lol. 4k 240Hz is A LOT of bandwidth
Hey please help! Which monitor would be the best value for money among the following? -LG UltraGear 27GR83Q-B - 320 EUR -MSI G274QPX - 450 EUR -AOC AG274QG - 350 EUR
I am curious to your thoughts on ASUS ProArt PA348CGV. I do productivity work (statistics, Excel, Davinci Resolve) about 2/3rds of the time and gaming (ordinarily single-player on this machine) the remainder. Color accuracy in REC709 is very important to me. This is a 120 Hz 1440p monitor. I am not yet willing to go OLED.
