Avi left due to the touring schedule taking a toll on him. They were constantly on tour and he was struggling to keep up with pace. Add-on that his mum fell ill and he just wanted to be able to spend more time with family etc (as well as doing simple things like going for a walk in the woods) that he just couldn't do while being on tour all the time. They put a video out on Facebook back when he left which is floating about on youtube (people made a copy) explaining it. While the rest of PTX were visibly upset, they totally understood and supported his decision (they were upset as they knew they'd miss him being in the group rather than feeling that he'd let them down etc). Avi finished the tour they were on (spending extra time with the fans after gigs) and also reportedly helped them select Matt who replaced him.

The audio pan from wide side to the other was something in the original by Queen that I assume they included as a homage.

PTX waited years to do this, worried that they wouldn't be able to do the proper homage. The lead guitarist from Queen (Brian May?) actually posted the PTX video on his Facebook page a number of times. Freddie would be proud! The pose on the sofa near the end was an homage to a shot from one Queen album.

Most reactors just stop for a few seconds... comment ..go back a few seconds on video ..that doesn't get blocked and you don't miss anything from the video.

They put so many details into this track, took them 5yrs to decide to do it, to pay homage to Queen - the starscape is for Dr Brian May holding a PhD in astrophysics....the trio falling onto the couch at the end is for the album art for Queen's 'Sheer Heart Attack'... the couch represents how PTX grew their fanbase after the label dropped them when they won the SingOff - they uploaded a heap of videos (evolutions etc) to RU-vid from their couch...which is how they took off - hence the couch going off down the road...but then always coming back to where they started- humble and grounded.

The older videos tend to not be blocked and with the newer ones you might try pausing occasionally and rewinding a bit so as not to lose momentum. This seems to work for some reactors

The left/right was in the original video by Queen. They replicated that. With respect to the cover of Queen, PTX held off for a very long time until they knew they could kill it.

The way reactors get around that they stop ever so often, make a comment, back the tape up 5-10 secs and move on. PTX fans don't mind because we know you have to do it. Please don't stop PTX.

Would be tragic if you didn't continue PTX reactions Liam, but to combine other comments - break it up with MORE of your comments, back it up a bit and you won't have to cut the song short at all. Definitely don't stop!

Avi left amicably because his mom got cancer and he was constantly flying home from touring and it got too much and he wanted to spend more time with her. When they made their announcement online they were all crying. It’s a tight family, Pentatonix. Avi actually helped find his own replacement. You should view some of the behind the scenes and just silly goofing off .. you can see how much they love and enjoy each other.

What I found out was Avi's mom took seriously ill, and Avi's schedule with PTX and travel to be with his mom and back left him too exhausted to do either well. After his mom died he went on solo for a while and the last I've heard he is with 'Home Free'. If you haven't reacted to them already check out their impressive 'Ring of Fire'. They have many others worth your time.

His mother didn't die. She recovered and supported him when he returned to music after a year off in his Nashville residency in 2019.

This is an excellent cover. Brian May enjoyed it also. He shared it on Twitter and FB. Please don't stop reacting PTX. RU-vid seems to be automatically blocking tons of different reactions all of a sudden. Most do get unblocked. I really enjoy your videos.

Avi left in good terms. Didn’t want to be away from family and friends for long periods of time. He even helped find Matt Salee to take his place. Avi still makes music on his own.

I see some reactors make the video very transparent as another way to get around the copyright. Since most have seen the video already, there doesn't seems to be many complaints about this technique.

Trust us when us Pentaholics say that MANY reactors are VERY hesitant before they watch their vid. Queen is def not something that can be replicated easily but I guarantee you that PTX loves a good challenge. I haven't seen a reactor yet that has been disappointed with their version after watching it!

Love your reactions! I think Avi's departure has been addressed but his mother was diagnosed with cancer along with the strains of the schedule. He left on good terms and even found his replacement for them which is Matt. He now has his own solo career and resides mostly in Tennessee. Avi is also heavily involved with the A' cappella academy in LA and Tennessee. They all have talents that are off the charts but admittedly he was and remains a favorite.

Avi was with them six years but it sounded like the rapid pace the group had got to him and he wanted to be home with his family more and enjoy a slower pace! He does his own music now. He’s amazing

to help from getting blocked, many other reactors pause often, make some comments, back up 5 or 10 seconds. We Pentaholics have seen the video, so pausing does not bother us. Also if you still get blocked, put some text over the video. like 4 lines of text: line one: name of your channel, line 2: "Pentatonix", line 3: "cover of {title of song}", line 4 original artist.

Toms have a certain tension on the heads, and when struck, the head makes a certain contact sound separate from the resulting tone, how Kevin makes them sound so..so..real, I just think it’s a miracle! I was a pro symphony player, sat in front of tympani and percussion for 40 years, I know what they’re supposed to sound like..

Avi left for personal reasons, too fast pace and his mum fell I'll and wanted to be with family. BUT.. you should check out some of his solo work hes been doing; couple of them.. Change On The Rise, Otherside, The Summit, Aberdeen and many more, such a beautiful full soothing voice he has! 👍❤😊

He left because he was really tired of the constant going and having no time for his own life, I think he was home sick, he parted on great terms , the whole band was totally ok with it. He just really needed down time .

Love your Pentatonix reaction, just a suggestion that the Pentatonic family will understand why its done, some reactors will blur or dim the video along with the pauses to help with copyright block. Maybe that will help you to get your reactions uploaded.

PTX'S record label is RCA/Sony and is very protective of their work. Hence the copyright issues.

Avi does have solo work out there, as does the other members. Scott and Mitch have a couple of albums out as Superfruit, Kirsten has an album out, Kevin has an album out and Avi has 2 out. I figure Matt won't be to far behind in getting one out.

If you pause for about 20 seconds 4 times through the video, talk to us, that usually helps keep it from being blocked, and that way you don't have to cut parts either.

This was so good right? They are amazing at singing it live too, Mitch can do the guitar part without the megaphone. I love queen and it’s great that they covered it and did the the song justice, Mitch kind of reminds me of Freddie sometimes

If you stop a couple of times during the video add a reaction then rewind 10 seconds or so it should solve your issue with the copyright

the problem is you don't pause the video much. pause every few minutes and it would be okay. i have seen other youtubers doing this too.

I liked the way you paused during the first half of the video. I wish you had kept pausing throughout because you missed some really good parts. Other reactors play the whole song but keep frequently pausing. We don’t mind the pauses as we have already heard and seen the video. We really want to see and hear YOUR reaction. Keep up the good work though..

what if you not show their video for the parts you cut out? I really love watching reactors expressions on Mitch's guitar solo, so maybe cut sound and their video so we could see your expression? it sucks that they copywrite so bad but even tho someone said they dont copywrite their older stuff i find that not to be true, maybe their live performances?

Yeah Def don't cut out so much of a video. Like others said, pause, talk, rewind ten seconds and continue. Otherwise it makes it less enjoyable. Like skipping mitchs megaphone guitar solo 😊
