Tired of "ambient" mode on your noise-canceling headphones? No matter how well the mics work, you still end up yelling at a co-worker... So the team got tired of accepting this as the only option! We purchased 3 different headphones/earbuds and put them to the test. Will it be the bone-conducting headphones from Aftershokz? Or the newly released, open-back earbuds from Sony? Watch to find out!

OpenRuns are for casual listening, podcasts, audio books, and obviously running or cycling (casually :)). They work fine for me. Don't like ear buds, or headphones, but they do not work in noisy environments, they get overwhelmed. I'll try ear plugs, see if they fare better than in-ear when I now the lawn. I like the Shokz for what they are. Call quality is not as good as with a proper headset, but passable.

For sure, David is our inhouse Audiophile and doesn't like and would rather just wear openback headphones. I am always running around on video shoots, riding my longboard, or in office trying to have conversations. If you're active and don't like in-ear headphone then its a no brainer.

I kept the Run and returned the Pro for your reasons. IMO the Pro's mic is the only upgraded feature since they sound more natural, and have better noise cancellation. Thanks for your candid opinions/reassurance. My alternative (a friend is selling) is G7 bone phone (E-bay), and I use it instead of the Run.

Own both the Shokz Openrun Pro and Opencoms, and both are excellent open earphones! The Opencomms have a boom mic and are perfect for noise cancellation. If you are looking for open-ear headphones that provide situational awareness, are robust, and do not cause ear fatigue, these are worth looking into! I love my Shokz.

True! I have had phone calls while riding a bike and longboard with the Openruns and people complain about wind noise, Opencoms probably sounds better.

Thanks for the comparison guys. I've been looking for the comparison between Sony Link Buds and Aeropex for a while, finally found it! I got the Aeropex for a year now, absolutely love it. Super comfortable. It's great for listening to podcast and audiobook sort of thing. Though, it’s not very good to use in a loud environment nor listen to the music. Got mix feeling about the Sony Link Buds but still want to try them though.

Glad it helped! I wanted openbacks but there were no videos comparing them... figured we could make a video to help others out. - Tristan

Ok I have all three models people are discussing here, imo the Aeropex do sound the best, seems to me the amplifier was changed for the new models and isn't quite as powerful... what I do love is the mini size headband, fits my head much more snugly, you'd have to try that to appreciate how much better it is. On that note I'm going to track down a pair of Aeropex Mini's and call it a day. 🤗

Thanks for the vid ppl I really want to like the Sony’s, especially for having loose&online meetings (meetings with your friends around) and cycling safe while listening to music, but they’re no good if they fail to fit or if the holes don’t do a lot for transparency.

We totally agree! The Sony's were perfect for our needs on paper and we really wanted them to work out, but sadly they were just too uncomfortable for use over 30 minutes and they block too much noise.

I have the Sony linkbuds on the way, I've been through 2 sets of Shokz and mic/ call quality is very hit and miss. If you make money with your phone calls I would advise caution with the shokz.

That's actually something I hadn't experienced until after recording this video. Sometimes during video calls the Aftershokz with activate an auto muting feature that I am unable to toggle off. I have not found a work around. No one has mentioned bad auto quality when on a standard phone call during jogs, bike rides or riding my longboard at 25mph. - Tristan

Can u give me a quick sugget please 😁 I work in the office with open space concept and daily meeting with Teams. I do cycling on weekend. If i need 1 headset for Teams meeting and cycling. Should i buy openrun/aeropex or opencomm or voyager 5200? Please help me
@triflixteam
@triflixteam 2 года назад
I personally would not do the voyager 5200 - I like to hear music through both ears. I have not experience with the OpenComm, I am sure they would be fine but I persoanlly wouldn't like the mic out in front of me when I am biking. I think the Aeropex/Openruns sound fine for video calls, I use them for cycling and love them. I hope that helps. - Tristan

Agree. I have the Aeropex and bought the Openrun Pro's and it was a huge disappointment. The Aeropex sounded much better in every aspect. I ended up returning them.
