This is a review of the Swampfox Optics BLADE Prism 1x25 optic. This optic is perfect for those with an astigmatism and for Home Defense with the BRC Reticle.
Fr I figured I wouldn’t have it got it and was a little pissed lol it still works fine and I like it just like you said blurry and stringy lines makes it a little bigger but nothing crazy still enough to be accurate with
Chris Sewell I’ve found out that prism optics don’t get blurry with astigmatisms... but you’ve gotta have perfect eye alignment. Magnifiers help by its on my HD rifle, no need for a magnifier unless a horde of zombies are trying to come on the property.
Same....bought a vortex viper...looked like a cluster of 🍇. Thought it was the Optic until I took a picture with my phone and it was a perfect dot lol. If you look "through" the reddot and don't really focus on it, it was slightly better. A little trick for your brain to make it managable
I've always wondered what the purpose of an expensive 1x prism optic was until my vision completely deteriorated in my 40s. I completely agree that for people with bad vision, this is probably the best option in the market for sitting on the home defense black gun. Regardless of whether I have my glasses on or not the optic presents a clear view of the world with great light transmission. The reticle for height over bore compensation and shake a wake are perfect.
Thank you for bringing this to my attention! I recently put my Eotech back on my Ar and thought something was wrong with it when I looked through. Had the wife look and realized how much worse my astigmatism had gotten. The reticle just looks like one big red blue. This optic is going to be a must have addition!
Thanks! Been going crazy with my astigmatism. I ordered one right away with your discount code and am super anxious to give it a go! Liked your presentation of the features and really like the short distances pre calculated and presented ... cool feature!
Thanks for the vid, Aimpoint and EoTech are the only ones that work with my eyes usually. I always wondered why the Army spent so much on red dots until I bought a cheaper one.
Thanks for your recommendation! I just got my Swampfox Blade and I absolutely love it. Red dots are spiderwebs and starbursts for me. This is crystal clear, etched reticle is great, shake awake, plus bullet rise! Best I've ever seen yet.
Great review. I have severe astigmatism. This is the review that I've been looking for regarding choosing a home defense optic for my AR15 & Mossberg 500!
I am sold on this one. I have a covid-eye...I mean an astigmatism, too. It comes in Red or Green dots! This checks all the boxes! Now if I could only save 20%, i'd bag one!
The 50/200 yard battle sight zero is applicable only to 5.56 NATO and .308 Win calibers. The rest of the holds will work with any barrel length and any caliber because range is so short. Bullet paths have very little chance to diverge due to velocity or ballistic coefficient differences at just 5 to 15 yards, so a .22lr point of impact is nearly identical to 9mm or 7.62x39... this is from swampfox website . So when you talk about using this for 300blk and other calibers it's not really true.
So they remade a vortex spitfire 1x, using a cr123 battery vs AAA ? That’s kind of what this appears to be to me. Maybe it’s the new holosun vs sig, 2 = 1 in the same but now it’s swamp fox/vortex lol.
I wish they would make a prism 1x the size of a sig romeo 5. Yea yea I know the Lil P is a thing but an 11mm objective lens is really really tiny. 20mm minimum, 25mm is ideal.
@James Smith Interesting idea, but I dont think it'd work for my specific application. This would be on an AK that already has the acss 3x (which is great btw). I have the romeo 5 on a 45 offset mount so its very close to my eye (which i prefer) and i can seemlessly go from 1x to 3x and back without taking my hands off the gun. If the 1x was a small 20mm prism then id have all the ruggedness Id want without a lot of weight. It'd be perfect. If I went with a magnifier then id have to take a hand off to fumble around with it as opposed to just tilting the gun. And having an optic just dangling all willy nilly on a hinge makes me... uneasy (i dunno i feel like id break it off at some point). Also (and sorry if this is a dumb question) are magnifiers just as rugged as prism optics? If not then I cant see why they are even relevant given the relatively recent proliferation of LPVOs.
@James Smith not the same features. the lines are for farther out distances not closer. Even Primary Arms them selves after asking said the reticle will not be applicable for closer distances. I took off my cyclops and put on the blade. WAY nicer for a pistol configuration and larger easier to see reticle too.
I use two Vortex Spitfire 1x, a Vortex Spitfire AR, and a Vortex Sparc AR. I prefer the GEN 1 Vortex Spitfire 1x. I actually had to send my Spitfire AR in for replacement under warranty; the dimming illumination button took a crap on me. The replacement Spitfire AR I received did not have a removable base, where my original did. I was pretty bummed, since I had an ADM QD mount on my original Spitfire AR, which is now rendered useless. I have an EXTREMELY severe astigmatism, and my prismatic sights/scopes are nice and sharp, with hardly any detectable bleed, while illuminated. I love having the laser etched reticle as well, just in case the illumination fails; as you cannot co-witness your BUIS, because prismatic sights are a true 1x magnification.
Hey I know this is an old comment but any chance you have used this Swampfox 1x Prism? I just picked up the Vortex 1x and although the glass is great I was wondering how this one compared because is offers shake and bake.
Is there any difference with night/dark use? Ss the etched reticle only an upgrade for people with astigmatism if you have the red dot off? or does the etched reticle help when you have it on?
I have an AR pistol and think this would be the perfect optic for it my question is in reference to eye relief would you recommend this or the trihawk for it I'm going to be using it for home defense and target shooting I have perfect vision thanks in advance for your input
Im looking for a 2x prism scope with mill dot cross hairs and no illumination. For some reason manufactures seem to think putting a bunch of electronics on a scope will sell but not to me. Batteries suck. Simple and tough is what I want .
while a neat idea, I think the bullet rise compensators for cqb is little gimmicky. if its that close, its really doesnt matter. point and pull. so what if its 2" low?
I actually emailed Aimpoint and Trijicon. Trijicon offers nothing close. A real helpful guy at aimpoint offered to get me, basically, a discontinued polarized lens cap that fits a few models but said theres no demand for that sort of thing. I'm surprised a not more people ask.
@@turbo75kirbo I am just going with the best irons I can get. Truglo front A2 and Daniel Defense fixed rear. I guess there is no demand because most of us after going through: Aimpoints, Eotechs, Vortex, PA, Holosun etc. has already given up...
Do you think a magnifier would work properly with the Blade by Swampfox? Not in a home defense scenario, of course, but at the Range and for fun. I've been seriously considering putting this on my ar pistol. They are duty tough, intended for home defense and law enforcement.
If you could only have one, would you take the Primary Arms SLx 1X MicroPrism or the Swampfox Blade? No RU-vidrs have done this comparison video yet. What's up with that?
Hey William seems like everything you get to make a video a out and make money on is the best, reminds me of gun magazine editors,I know first hand some of the stuff you have talked about was not as great as others, but the editors could say something wasn't that great because they didn't want to offend some company then you wouldn't get free stuff to make money on, just my opion, very few people on u tube that are honest and will tell it how it is,watched you for about a year but the way videos have gone so commercial i can not any more, thought i remembered you saying you liked nutn fancy videos n he inspired you, well you have strayed way off the mark,I have never heard you say any product you reviewed was bad or not as good as such n such, sorry making money is more important than being honest, best wishes i just can't do it anymore
Not bad looking but I don't think you would user the bullet rise compensator at close range, it's more likely that you would aim fast with circle than to take the time for a more precision shot at 5 or even 25 yards, the bullet impact difference in a self defense situation against a human or most animals at that distance would not be enough to warrant taking any extra time in aiming than necessary.
Well it’s no Aimpoint T2 but for those of us with astigmatism this is a great option. Do you know if this is made in the USA or China like the pro, army arms ones? Are there any 1 or 2x magnification prism optics that are made in the USA besides the Trijicon TA44 (and variants thereof)?
@@clarkrp1960 Thanks for the response. I'm very tempted, but I'm unsure about liking the busy reticle. I just got the Holosun and love it, but not perfect with with my eyesight, so I want to try a prism optic.
Thanks, I have been looking for a quality Green Dot sight. I will be picking this up ! But I must say I don't think at in home range less than 10' you will be aiming or deciding which "aim point" to use
As a Geek Squad Agent, I highly recommend you look into buying a camera at Best Buy and get the GSP. It'll save you the hassle of buying and replacing your cameras every so often. And GoPros, the new ones will do anything you need.
Copper Jacket TV do you have a new discount code, the one one here expired. Also do you still feel that this is still the best one on the market for a astigmatism?
Great scope. But I can't imagine how this could be useful in close quarters inside a home. Most home self-defense conflicts happen 5 yards or less--not in 10 yard long hallways.
This specific optic is a 1x25 (in other words no magnification) and it’s good for home defense situations because of the holdovers. It’s meant to be a CQB optic not necessarily just for the house but short ranges in general. So you zero it out to 50yds and it has built in holdovers for shorter distances so you don’t have to guess where the bullet will go or adjust your optic every time you come back home from the range or wherever you took it. This would be a good option for a “trunk gun” AR pistol.
It’s perfect bc it’s annoying to sight your AR in at 50 yards then try shooting 15-20 yards, I can never figure out where my shots are supposed to land so I dial my home defense in at 15 or 20 yards then I want to shoot a little further and I have to adjust it again
Had I of seen this a couple months ago I wouldn’t of got my sightmark wolfhound this looks way more small my wolfhound is super long and gets in the way of my charging handle
@@ForestxWalker06 Iron sights, even with a practiced user, are the slowest option out of common use sighting systems. Red dots & 1x prisms will be fastest, then LPVO's, then irons; the optic systems don't require lining up 2 planes and as such are faster. (Hence every branch of the military and law enforcement department utilizing optics > irons on their rifles
Because finding an illuminated dot or circle on a singular focal plane with both eyes open is faster than lining up a rear and front sight in the same situation.
Do you have an astigmatism? I bought the same optic and it was super blurry ( I know they are supposed to be pixelated but for that much money i'm not going to have some super blurred reticle ) I returned it. Bought the cyclopse 1x and us a gg&g mount that allows me to have room to put my Iron sight under it. You can see a pic of it on my IG at lefthand_556 . I wished this used T1 mounts. The holosun 512C is the best Red dot i've looked through with having an astigmatism.
No. The EXPS-3 is far superior. When using, do not focus on the reticle. Focus on the target. I have an astigmatism & it works just fine. Also, buy a 3x magnifier. I have the Eotech G33, but I hear the Vortex 3x is good too. Under magnification, the EoTech reticle is crisp. And when you don’t need it, flip it to the side. Great set up.
kersty52 so mike used to work at primary arms, point? Go to the forums and this has been discussed 100’s of times. Mike even says he used to work for primary arms but left them to go work for swamp fox. If there is a link oh well.
Quick acquisition, incoming bad guy 10 feet away, "hold on just a sec bub, let me do the math conversions and figure out which random area of this hieroglyphic reticle I'm supposed to use to shoot at you".
That’s kinda the whole point of the hold overs…. So there is no “math conversion” or guessing. Besides, at 10ft he’s already closer than all the hold overs at that point, just point and shoot. The hold overs are in yards.
Not everything made in China is bad. I work in research and development here in the USA, and a lot of the American made products that we test to qualify before using them in our products are way less proficient than the Chinese products. Of course, the American made products are much more expensive as well. As far as I know, this is normal across a lot, if not all industries. If it works, it works. I like stuff that just plain works, and of course passed some sort of testing. I've personally purchased a lot of Chinese made gun parts off of amazon and ebay, and have had very little to no issues. I take precautionary measures like degrease all screws and screw holes with alchohol first before installing with blue locktight. A lot of newbies just slap on parts and expect the sights, mounts, red dots, etc...to hold zero when at the gun range....a lot of "American" manufactures in all industries get a lot of their parts from China to keep their cost down.
If the reticle is turned on, it will automatically turn off and back on at the slightest bump. Auto on/auto off is the default setting. To turn it off, you hold down on the dim button for a few seconds and it’ll stay off until you turn the brightness up.
Just don’t drop it! I was taking off one rifle to put on another I dropped it about chest high onto the ground kind of on the lens ring . And it shattered. They replaced it no questions asked but I cannot believe this thing shattered like it did . It’s so damn heavy I never thought it would break but it was very delicate and I mean shattered into pieces. so it sits in a box I don’t even use it.
Take a rifle that is sighted in at 100 yards or further. Walk up to a paper target, aim and take a few shots from 10 yards. All of your hits will be below your point of aim.
