I'll tell you. Eufy uploads facial recognition and all your video to their cloud secretly, no option to disable, over an un-encrypted connection, and the streaming URL is open to anyone on your network. What's more, an intruder can simply press the sync/reset button on the camera for 8 seconds, and that not only removes the camera from your system but also removes ALL footage from that camera. Yeah, no thanks, this is spyware and trash, shit for security. Eufy has known about this for over a year, and is refusing to fix it.
I stuck a dashcam on my windows. boom. no BS no subscriptions. records straight to SD card that I own not to some stupid server where who knows gave access to my videos.
I use Wyze Cam v2. It isn't this fancy but allows me to keep an eye on property. Night vision on v2 is poor, but it is a wireless connection which is a plus.
Wyze Camv3 has a better picture, but you have to pay monthly for video replay. Very disappointing they went that way since I bought v2s because they didn't have a monthly charge.
I no longer trust wyze - -I was an early investor/adopter and they cut off support and no longer let you connect existing v1 cameras to the home network if they drop off or reset ; I doubt I will purchase any more despite the price
I have been on the WYZE band wagon for 3 years now. never been disappointed. Have 10 Wyze cam three v2 and 7 v3. with three being outside. Paying wyze cam+ on three of them. I give it 5 stars
Well, im dissapointed with the motion blur on the Wyze v3.. Playback an object in motion and its loaded with digital motion blur because of the compression. I think Wyze has great products but they just aren't quite perfect. The Wyze v2 cams have great video without motion blur but they constantly (some) go offline and need to be manually deleted then re added to work again.
Google security subscription does not allow for manual clips only the ability to download events defined by AI. The nest/google cameras also do not have manual storage. This is a huge gap for these cameras.
Are you sure about the cloud? I have heard different. I know the storing thing on the base needs an Ethernet and anonymously it talks to an external server, otherwise will not the base work. How do your phone connect to the base when you are away from home?
ROKU has cams now like Wyze cams, but Roku has a much better system for viewing and my pan cams do NOT drop off and disconnect like my Wyze stuff did, Still only connects with 2.4 connection, but not a problem as my Starlink wifi has the ability to supply both 5.0 and 2.4 connections at the same time.
Bought an Arlo spotlight and it only lasted a couple of months because even though it says it's cold proof, we got a couple degrees below zero Fahrenheit and that was that.
I have the eufy 3 and it works great except in fog. I do like that everything is here at the house and not in the cloud some place coasting me more money each month. I highly recommend it well worth the money.
All your videos gets uploaded to a 3 party cloud as well! including pictures with face recognition, it is associated to the user and can be accessed by anyone lol
Ive had 2 eufy cams for 2 years now. No issues. No monthly costs, better view quality than an outdoor nest cam. Just monitor them like you care abt your property and set the motion zones accordingly to see whats going on. Afterall, isnt every1 and their mama constantly stuck to a phone screen tiktokn or tweetn n all that stuff nowadays?
Why are you emphasizing that the Google Nest cam can be "magnetically attached to your home?" So can the Wyze and Arlo, although you don't mention it for them?
I am in manitoba Canada and all 13 of my Eufy cameras have a software issue. They are in different locations on different net works, the company has told me they will let me return them because it is a software issued they cannot seem to fix. My cameras no longer have the play back option, they are missing many hours of video footage, you can not fwd or Rewind, they show zero events all the time, a few of them will pick up small motions but miss a human being standing right infront of them. The good things: image is very good, and they were easy to use and set up when they worked for the first month, the app is user friendly, and the battery ones need to be charged about 3 times a year.
I mean you can buy an AbeTap X83 right now in someplaces for 30 bucks that will give you 110 degrees of Visibility and a way better picture than a dash cam will give you but youll also need to recharge it ever a week or so and agree to their SUS end user agreement but it the camera for the 30 dollar deal would probably be alot better than using a cheap dash cam and phone charger and for that price youre getting an actual Security camera. Do I recommend them for looking after you home NO I DO NOT but they will work for the money better than your dashcam.
I have Eufy and Google, you missed a big selling tactic with Google. All those cameras are VMD (Video Motion Detection clips) which Eufy's highest is only 2 minutes. You miss alot by that time and having a minute delay. Google opts for 24/7 recordings with 10 day loops. Many criminals cut the green cord off your wifi to stop cameras from recording. Google btw also has facial recognition. Eufy is working on threat detection more right now too.
You're totally wrong as the eufy has the option for 2 second gap on doorbells or 5 second on the s330. If you owned the eufy you would have known that. Also the eufy works without WiFi as cameras send data to the hub independently.
@rsj7458 I do own a eufy. S40. Doorbells can operate at 24/7 recordings for 5 days. And yes I'm familiar with buying a sim card for the camera. If only you known how to talk to ppl without sounding like know it all when you obviously don't even know how your doorbell works.
I have the Google nest indoor/outdoor battery cameras and i cannot fault them at all for reliability and battery life they are simply amazing for that but the night time vision sucks and i would not trust them in the event of a night time break-in to capture enough detail. If they had come with a lamp or bright led they would be perfect.
@@WWarthog798 No absolutely not. I have family who have blink and they have replace their batterys about every month-3 months. With medium settings. None of these cameras that are wireless have a battery life out to 6 months with active motion detection and you actually using them and checking the live feeds. NONE of them do.
This video is worthless for anyone serious about security cameras, the title is completely misleading. Amcrest, Unifi, Hikvision, Reolink.... those the more the types of vendors one talks about that make real security cameras.
I dont agree with this list , I tried many cameras and my pick for #1 is the wyze v3 the price is right and you get a lot for the money . The app works great for phone and Alexa and mine are pluged into power, screw the battery ones ! 32g card and you can have cloud for 30 bucks a year
All These webcams are constantly linked to the cloud and as a result cause excessive use of your data plan. If your plan don’t have unlimited data then be prepared to pay for overages as well as cloud storage plans. Your best bet is to get a NVR camera system that stores your recordings locally.
@@timp1390 I have cloud storage and pay 6.35 per month for two cameras. Internet outages would be a separate issue but no, haven’t had an internet outage in years. I also have a camera on the phone lines coming into the house to see if anyone disturbs them.
Eufy has a huge problem. If the burglar just grabs the camera and he resets it: it will remotely delete all videos from that camera. That is a huge security risk. Apart from them getting caught uploading vids incl face recognition to the cloud accessible by third party. I recommend you follow Linus tech tips to be more informed before you actually advice people.
@@aliengrey6052 u still need to be figure out which brand with each every one of them button location and on top of that u have to climb ur ass up with power drill to remove
One of the dumbest tech decisions I ever made is buying the 1st generation Arlo cameras when they first came out. Using the weird and unstable 123 or the bigger ones i can never remember except how expensive and how one or 2 will drain within a month, another huge mistake is ring cam which is totally useless without a subscription you cant view your own content without paying 🙄
I appreciate the presentation, but before I make a decision, I think I'll also check out the SimpliSafe outdoor camera. If your narrator didn't have such a pronounced accent, I would have been able to understand him better. Some of his words I wasn't sure about, and it left me with thinking about what he said rather than paying attention to his continuing narration.
Imilab EC4 review: an absolutely useless camera, gateway is not backward compatible with EC2, can not be added to Xiaomi app, does not send alerts on Android phone, although nicely designed and pleasing to the eye.
I've got a Eufy system. 4 cameras and a base station hooked up to my wi-fi router. At home I can change modes and watch play back, providing I disconnect the VPN. Away from home the cameras record but I cannot access any play back or change modes. Contacted Eufy many times. They're totally incompetent.
Computer generated speech is impressive but you can still tell it's computer generated. If it's not, get a US English speaking person to proof-hear your content.
I have spent hundreds of $$$ on WYZE cameras over the last few years and recently developed a problem with four of their outdoor battery models. After numerous calls to their support team in the Philippines they were unable to help. They ended-up offering me a $20 gift card for my trouble and loyalty to them. Needless to say, I will NEVER purchase anything from them again.
My Arlo Pro is a nightmare. I’ve had it for 4 months and can’t use it. It goes off without reason every 30 sec to 1 min. It’s set to the lowest sensitivity. Tech support is non existent. DONT BUY IT.
This video is worthless for anyone serious about security cameras, the title is completely misleading. Amcrest, Unifi, Hikvision, Reolink.... those the more the types of vendors one talks about that make real security cameras.
I stopped watching this video as soon as Blink outdoor camera appeared on his list. I made the mistake of buying 8 of these pieces of junk and no one should waste their money on these worthless cameras...
DONOT get Arlo cameras! I've had arlo cameras for a few years, but since their last firmware update, all but one of the cameras are glitching and cannot stay focused. Contacted arlo support and they actually said i have too many arlo cameras. I've had the same number of cameras and they worked fine until a few weeks ago. Arlo support is absolutely useless! So I'm looking at eufy to replace the arlo cams.
I use Reolink which is very popular and not toys like ring. Works with PC MAC Mobile. 4k Cameras are under $100 US. Since you didn’t mention Reolink or Armcrest I can’t take your ratings very seriously.
I have a eufy most of the time doesn’t record when someone’s present at home and the battery doesn’t last 180 days maximum can last is 60 days I regret buying them I prefer blink
Can’t imagine dealing with battery changes ten feet or more above ground periodically, or paying an electrician 100-200 per box/x camera to run 12) v to each
Ok not tech savvy but I'm confused about all the videos I've watched I need a security camera outside the monitor a road looking for wireless, battery, night vision without flood light, live recording. What would you recommend please
I have five Nest Cameras from Google. Some are from an older generation when Nest was a separate company and their features are a lot better than the second generation of cameras sold by Google. With the present second generation of cameras, it is impossible to create personnal clips of videos, only selected clips from event driven occurences created by the camera. You miss vital important information with the event driven clips and the videos become unsusable. Also, the clips created lack a timeline of events which is invaluable for law enforcement. I am presently looking for Ring cameras for my girlfriend as the Nest cameras are not up to parr anymore.
Also, I suggest that buyers go for wired cameras and not battery driven, as, who wants to climb a ladder to change or charge batteries when they are out of power?
The video title is quite misleading. All the cameras mentioned are mass marketed consumer cloud cameras, not high quality security cameras that use POE and an NVR. Anyone serious about video security is not going to use any of the cameras mentioned in the video, so to say these are the "best outdoor security cameras" is completely ridiculous.
@@Hat65 If you have a specific question about my comment, ask and I'll try to answer it. I will say this much...broadly, there are two tiers of outdoor security cameras, this video is only discussing inexpensive lower tier cloud cameras, yet it is titled "Best Outdoor Security Cameras". If they titled it "Best Low Cost outdoor Security Cameras" or "Best Entry Level Outdoor Security Cameras", then the title would be appropriate.
I purchased a Wyze Cam 3, about 2 yrs ago. It worked fine mounted out of the weather under my front porch roof until about a week ago when it would no longer connect to my network. I have 4 other Wyze cams and they work fine, with some connection outages from time to time on the 2 battery operated models. One new Wyze Pan Cam and another Cam v3 model. Nothing has changed with my network, Wyze tried to tell me it won't work with a 5g network, but no changes to my network for over 2 years. Anyone out there know what the issue might be? Thanks
Unfortunately for us (because I have wyze cam also) the people working for them don’t KNO kno or understand how their cameras work at all they just type out repeated scripts for certain situations. I also have a lot of connectivity issues as well. The only one I have connected at the moment is one of them because I decided to switch I can’t trust that these will be working or connected when needed
Arlo is GARBAGE. The system is horrible and the support is worse. I'm looking into a wired system. Here's an example. Today My wife returned home from work. I heard her vehicle in the garage before the Arlo system notified me that a car even passed by the cameras. In all about 10 seconds. And they will not work in temps below freezing. Beware of arlo
I've had arlo pro 4 for a couple of years, but all but one camera started glitching and unable to keep focus. Called their support and that was mind-numbing! They were useless and not very bright. Bought an eufy system and so far so good. No subscription fee is a winner.
I am making a shelter tomorrow and i am scratching my head for the type of camera to buy, i need one with pan and tilt with night vision and wifi that i can link to my desktop computer also i would like to not be obligated to change battery on the camera to not disturb my little feral buddies, any suggestion? Oh and i don't want subscription since i only want to see the cats on my desktop and not record the footage.
I returned a Eufy SoloCam S40 as it cannot handle a single WiFi SSID for 2.4 and 5g. The Eufy CS solution was to install a dedicated 2.4 router. I wonder if the others in this list have similar problems? Thanks for your video.
