The new lead guitarist is Oyus. He replaced LA, who left the group. Creed is the band that he sounds like. I don't remember the singers' name. Gigi is the bomb, no matter what she does.
Thanks, Erika, for reacting to our stars. We love your analysis, which gives us a better appreciation of her talent and excellent performance and music.
Re Filipino language: politics of language are a confusing and contentious matter in the Philippines as the regional languages were wrongly declared to be dialects, and Tagalog was called Filipino and taught everywhere as such. De facto though the national language that mass media use is the slang of Manila, which has by now assimilated words from Bisaya and uses a simpler grammar than the poetic Tagalog of ballads or in the countryside. Tagalog and Bisaya are as close and as different as maybe Spanish and Portuguese. As for rock in the Philippines: US influence, including the Air Force and Navy bases that used to be there. The founder of Filipino rock Pepe Smith was the son of an American GI and a Filipina. Morissette and rock: her father was her first vocal coach who happened to be a rock vocalist and such a fan of Alanis Morissette that he named his eldest child after her. Gigi and rock: she once mentioned listening a lot to Alanis Morissette, Avril Lavigne, and Paramore in her teens.
Thank you so much for this!!! Super interesting I can hear similarities between Bisaya and Tagalog but as many have said they are completely different languages. The Philippines is so cool for having so many cultural influences!!!
Hope u can sing ilocano song too called “ o naraniag na bulan “ ..Thats Filipino language nothern part of the Philippines… I wish I can understand bisaya.. but what was the song is all about? I’m Filipino but I only understand Tagalog n ilocano…not bisaya
