Yo! Who grew up on Big Ben, Irvine and Georgie Pies? We certainly did. Eating pies is a part of the New Zealand culture. On this episode I try three Supreme Gold Award winning pies from around Auckland. The best mince and cheese, potato top, fruit and mince pie.

Clendon bakery has great pies, the pizza bread is absolutely full of toppings and flavour and the sandwiches are full to the brim with fillings worth the money. I like HongKong bakery pies in Mangere bridge and their cheese sticks too.

Thank you Peter and Yen, I grew up in Auckland with pies starting with Broadway in the 50's, then transitioned to Georgie, Irvine and Big Ben, our Pak N Sav in Hamilton make the best steak n cheese - which are in the freezer - not for long, and I'm now hungers...lol, thanks again for a great vid and reliving my childhood, Ka Kite :-)

Miss New Zealand pies Aussie pies are rubbish and the sausage rolls are even worse. The cream donuts is a bread roll with mock cream. The Asians back home make quality style New Zealand baked goods but here in Australia most of the bakerys are Asian owned but there pies donuts are crap and the cakes are dry filled with either mock cream or yucky over sweet glaze the chocolate eclairs have mock cream and the chocolate icing is like that stuff mr whippy dips your icecream in.

Those look delicious! I don’t know if there’s any difference between Australian and New Zealand pies, but I’ve had an australian pie once from a shop called Peaked Pies in Whistler Canada and it was yummy. We don’t have much of these in Canada, so I would love to travel to Aus/NZ one day and try all these pies! 🤤

Thanks for spotting that! The location is in Takapuna not Ellerslie. I've fixed it now. The mince and cheese is a very very close second favorite to the classic mince.

The Crown Bakery pie looked amazing. The pastry looked so buttery and flaky. Got me craving a meat pie now. Fun fact, the meat pies sold at CostCo Japan are Dad's Pies from NZ. Is that a big brand there? They're alright. Cheese and minced beef filling.

You should go to Muzza's pie in Mt Albert. You should also go to Bamboo garden on 82 titirangi road, they have the best pies. The filling is so good. Definitly get the mince/mince and cheese or the steak/steak and cheese.

Hahahahaha me too! I have so many memories of scrounging around for $1.20 for a pie from the tuck shop. Finally in primary school I brought crabs from the beach and sold them for 50 cents each and boom enough money for a pie and a circle k. 😂😂😂 yeah gas always a problem but the pies made it all worth it 👌☺

I loved this video!!😍 I definitely plan on making the trip put to Pukekohe.. assuming it's still open 😁 If you get the chance, I highly recommend you check out Paris Bakery (155 Puhinui Road, Papatoe) their seafood pie is great 😍🤤 and Clendon Bakery (469 Roscommon Road, Clendon). Everything is great there. My favourites are the cream donuts and the potato top pies 🤤😍😍

Something fizzy and acidic would go well because the pies are quite buttery and salty. I would recommend a classic kiwi l&p from a can to go along with your pie on a nice sunny day. You will be feeling good for sure 😁👍
