My wife and I road tripped all of Ireland for a month...(we eloped as well there) drank Guinness for a solid 4 weeks. Came back home to Canada and ordered a pint and it was like I was drinking a beer with a bunch of pennies, very metallic tasting. If you come to US/Canada area, I'll be very curious as to what you think. I actually don't think you'll enjoy it.
I'm in NS and we have the Old Triangle or Celtic Corner to get a pint. It's better than the cans but watching these videos I can only dream how much better the Guinness tastes in Ireland. Someday...
Ever since I could see over the bar I have been in Bowles’s shlugging the black stuff. An 8.8 doesn’t reflect the work being put in to create that masterpiece. This is by far the best pint I have ever had in my life, every single day it tastes better and I can only see it getting better day in day out. I hope to have many more years in me to spend down at this lovely spot. I’m delighted for my Da.
I think I've figured out your scoring system. Your standard, proper, good pint gets an 8. Anything above that is "Whoa! This is really nice!" Anything 7-8 is "Step up yer game there lads!" Below 7 is "Fuck me! That is wrong on so many levels!' From 8.5 to 9.3 is as close to perfect as humanly possible. From 9.4 to 9.9 is "God poured me a Guinness." To get a 10, God would have to become a pint & invite you to partake! Close?
Good on you Guru...only came across your channel a few weeks ago.....Im not in the Instagram generation which I know you use mostly, but i hope you keep up the RU-vid videos. There great. We have even started to use your phrases in my local here in Limerick....Shtick :) ...keep it up lad, great personality you have......Guinness pints need a moderator ....
Love your videos! BTW am a big fan of Dave Portnoy’s “one bite everyone knows the rules” ! Am from the US! Can’t wait to see you visiting NYC and to let us know where to grab a great pint of Guinness! Keep up the good work mate! Cheers!!!
Pity you couldn't do country pubs.. Hard to get 5 different pubs in 1 night.. Great channel..and great to see you put limerick in a good light.. Great city to go out in
Nice vid. Great to see pubs where there's healthy chat going on without ear busting music. Don't get me wrong I like music, but some pubs you can't chat because the music is so loud. All the best to you
I just started drinking an odd pint of guinness just because of you channel and really enjoying it, my grandfather drank it by the gallon he was from longford, keep up the good work love from Scotland 🤝
Well Jon, I am half Irish and am exactly the same except I tried it a few days ago and can honestly say I have never wrapped my lips around something so foul in my whole life (maybe sprouts) Using the word cream to describe Guinness should be illegal but still here I am watching away haha
acquired taste for most, used to never like it but now im practically a connoisseur. most bars here in the US that have it on tap actually don't know how to pour so it comes out very bitter or somehow flat. its also not as good out of the can imo.
@EnderVelo that describes exactly how mine came out of the can, flat, very bitter and almost had a liquorice taste to it. Will try one from the local and see if its an improvement.
I used to live in Limerick years ago. The best pints I had were from the 'extra cold' tap in Jerry O'Dea's front bar. The first few gulps were so cold they'd hurt your throat. Nectar of the Gods.
Should have called to Charlie St George's pub around the corner from Myles Breen. It's my favourite pub in Limerick City for a pint of the black stuff. It was also a a haunt of Richard Harris in his younger days!
I’m a Belfast man but live in London now and am constantly on the lookout for great London Guinness pints. Do a London video if you’re able to man. Cheers
All these pints look amazing and look tasty in Ireland, should come over to England and try some of our pints where I'm from some of the guniness is terrible, I was in a pub ordered a guniness and the bar lady poured it straight to the top no resting time and it had no shtick tasted like water and metal, not all pubs just my local area but so disappointing after watching these videos
@@RobD2788 I'm from Kent it's actually a irish pub but to be the fair all the beers in there are quite bad must be something to do with the lines and gas, our weatherspoons does quite a decent pint though
Jeez I would never drink Guinness in a Weatherspoons did once and was rotten.I’m originally from Manchester and there’s a good few pubs that doo a daycent pint👍Living in Castlebar in County Mayo since October 21 savage Guinness 😋😋
@@jayd1974 must just be luck of the draw, I'm in a pub now called the goose and the guniness is just weird, tasting like metal, I'm starting to prefer guniness out of a draught can
JJ's is a min 9, having drank there Bowes and gravediggers i think its on a par with both so that it was Sub 9 seems way off. Otherwise dead on about limerick, great city with a load of quality pubs
Stumbled across your channel m8 I’m a Guinness drinker and a buckfast drinker from Scotland have you mixed Guinness with buckfast if not would you consider trying it :)
Should make a video where you go to gravediggers and see if you can make the pint bad, pour it with a single pour, put it in a plastic cup, a new guinness glass, does the taste change? Also go grave diggers directly after guinnesses clean the pipes and then directly before they clean the pipes, does that change the taste?
Think your could have done Limerick more favours with the drone footage.. the river, the castle, the Georgian sector.... But thanks for shining a light on our great city.. the noise in the background is distinctively Limerick. Not sure I noticed that in any other of your videos.
I was thinking JJ Bowes might have even reached a 9, but 8.8 is fair and very good. Have you got a league table going somewhere? Just fun to keep tabs on scores and what cities are best 👍🏼
Gravediggers in Glasnevin is #1 (and likely will always stay #1) and then Bowes is #2. Only 1 other pub has ever gotten into the 9’s but I can’t remember it off the top of my head
@@boland73 Cheers Michael 👍🏼 I remember the Gravediggers and Bowes reviews…top stuff. But, like you, could recall many other 9s. A trip to Gravediggers is a must, me thinks! 👍🏼🎄🍻
