Best Pistol Caliber Carbine Hollow Point? 

Sadly, they discontinued it right away because they just couldn’t keep the cost down to a reasonable amount.

ClearBallistics is a really cool product. I’ve used it many, many times. However, I’ve come to suspect it penalizes certain bullet designs because it is so much more elastic than either living tissue or FBI gelatin.

I wasn't aware that W-W Ranger was available in 115gr bullet weight

@@Rampant_Colt yes they were the golden and blue stripe box from many years back. I was turned onto those after the black talon was discontinued. This was the legal replacement from what I remember. It's just so hard to find now but on occasion I'm able to find it for a pretty penny.

@@dsanderspnw4984 Ranger T-Series? I have a bunch of that in 180gr part number RA40T. Do you have the W-W part number for those?

@@Rampant_Colt Correction...what I use is not the T series. My apologies...I don't have any boxes of that stuff. Just a couple of cases of the 115gr RA9MMJHP. Bought it about 10 years ago. I absolutely love this stuff and it shoots great as I said earlier. Again..my apologies for the misrepresentation.

As good as any hollow point would. Worth trying, for sure.

The issue is the feed ramp on any firearm, so it’s good to test any round with your combo to make sure it works.

my scorpion gets jammed with hollow point sporadically. I'm back to ar-15 for actual defense. I like the scorpion otherwise.

They’re extremely time consuming to do unless you’re working with a brand new block of gel.

W B that was such a horrible statement by Twang and Bang that I stopped and started to rethink some of the things he has advised. Glock is the definition of Fud gun. It hasn’t changed since inception and it’s reputation is a holdover from 40 years ago.

Should’ve specified 9mm Glocks. 45ACP is a different animal altogether due to its low ratio of length to width.

@@TWANGnBANG My G30 & G21 have been very reliable. My G36 not so much,flatter feed angle but anymore I'd like to make the switch to 9mm if for no other reason it is so inexpensive to shoot & if I am ever to get a carbine,yes it will be in 9mm.

My G42 can’t cycle hollow points... would only trust FMJ for self defense

No blind confidence. I probably have more rounds through Glocks in the past year than most have through all of their firearms combined lifetime. Don't forget what I do for a living.

@@TWANGnBANG well if I would have listened to this video I would have assumed I had bad ammo, instead I did research and figured out with a local gunsmith the throat was indeed short compared to my other 9mms causing the malfunctions. All I'm saying is any brand is capable of having inherent issues and to be mindful of these, dont automatically assume a malfunction cant be the glocks fault. You are a professional reviewer who receives t&e guns, accessories and sponsorships. Bias is inevitable

@@TWANGnBANG dont get me wrong I'm not bashing you, or saying your opinions aren't valid, just that either personal or professional bias is inevitable and as a reviewer you have to be mindful of that. I work in medicine so we are hyper sensitive to bias in medical journals and stidues; its unavoidable but important to scrutinize in the peer review process so that's where I'm coming from. Regardless my point was simply to say that no manufacturer is immune from problems here and there. I own many glocks and of course they have one of the best track records, but if it's a tool I'm going to trust my life to if I experience a malfunction I first assume it's the gun and rule that out first, in my case, it was a rare instance of overly tight tolerance leading to not running 147gr HSTs reliably. Anyways just rambling at this point, carry on

45ACP is a bit of a different beast than 9mm to start with. Even ball ammo has a pretty high width to length ratio compared to 9mm.

@@TWANGnBANG for 9mm I load Hornady XTP 147 grain hpbt to around 1,000fps, tried the 115 grain xtp but the would never expand, the 147 grain where on sale for $5 per box of 100.
