One more thought to add to the reason people in the United States call themselves "americano". The word "estadounidense" does not exist in English. While I understand why it may be perceived as offensive to people of Canada and Mexico, but "American" is a shorter way of saying "person of the United States of America". I have become much more aware of words that don't easily translate since I have been traveling to CDMX more often and "estadounidense" is one of those words.
As a Canadian, and i'm sure i speak for others, I don't take any offense in the term "American" being used to refer to citizens of the United States. It's basically a given that "American" has come to mean "citizen of the USA" and we do not self identify with or consider ourselves "American" at all. We do use the phrase North Americans though when talking collectively about the two.
One day while in Spain a Spanish friend introduced me to a Colombian women. He told her that I am American. He put some stress on it as if it was "special". He has never traveled outside of Europe. The woman immediately said that she is also American. I laughed and the man said no, she is from Colombia. I said that she is also American, I am from North America and she is from South America. This mistake on his part made us, the two Americans, bond immediately. Two Americans in Europe. We were not outnumbered. Solidarity! :) I agree with you so much Juan. People need to take the "I" out of "world". hmmm There is no "i" in "world". Let's just share the planet and try to keep it healthy.
I really appreciate you for all the work you make. Its really helpful. I bet you you will be more successful in the future because the quality of your videos is so good. Gracias de Japon!

I like the Cuban slang term "Yuma", and will often say, "Soy yuma" o "soy gringo". I want to speak "Street Spanish", not "Book Spanish", and can't imagine ever saying, "Soy ciudadano estadounidense", unless I was filling out a legal form. Tijuana is a very nice city; I felt very safe there. I really want to visit Mexico City, to see how it compares to New York, Paris, Berlin, Rome, and other mega-cities.
I noticed we now have commercials in your videos? Can we remove them? Or is there a way to listen without the commercials. It is so annoying to be constantly bombarded with images and sounds trying to convince us to buy things we dont need.
