Oakland and Berkeley best places to live? 😳 with high crime rate I’d say worst place. Specially Oakland. I wouldn’t even park my car in Oakland.
@RelocatingToTheSFBayArea
@RelocatingToTheSFBayArea 3 года назад
Not all places are bad in those areas and ya they are definitely high demand areas. As a CA native I agree growing up I was taught that I should never go to Oakland but you would be surprised with the gentrification, there are some really cool spots there! :) If you want more safe areas I definitely recommend Lafayette, Walnut Creek, Danville, Alamo or Pleasant Hill! Happy to chat more to go more in depth or watch a few videos I did on those specific areas, they are awesome!

#1: Alameda...i lived there for 14 years. We moved to Danville a few years ago, I now work in Walnut Creek in the building at the 3:56 mark. Lived in SF in the late 90s. Loving the east bay. No better place to raise a family imo. Great video! I met you in Berkeley about 15 years ago at a networking event (I'm a CPA) You were a photographer, cool to see you jumped into real estate. For me, I would add some places up in Marin County as well for nature lovers - Mill Valley, Stinson Beach, Kentfield, Paradise Cay if you are lucky. A lot of nice cottagey and new homes with something special, serene communities, and still very close to San Francisco, Santa Rosa, and Sonoma.

I would add places to live with a direct line of sight toward San Francisco or the bay as well since that's when you know you are fully immersed in the topography, haha. Recently looked into purchasing a home to raise new family in Tiburon, but also found beautifully designed homes with a similar vantage point toward the waters inland in Corte Madera. Both gorgeous places! Also, do you know about the condo developments happening on Yerba Buena Island? Is it an ongoing project where they're trying to fill up the island with high-rise housing or is there a space where they designated to building single family homes ground-up there? It's one of the places I researched a little, but ended up forgetting since resources there were kind of slim.

Moving to the Bay Area and most of these videos seem to focus on East Bay? Got a new job offer in Sonoma where I'm thinking this will be the one, but I don't want to live directly in Sonoma. Considering getting a home in Petaluma, Napa, or the outskirts east of Santa Rosa where I can put my family, but not sure of any surprise or hidden costs and amenities associated yet (like any city and public work taxes, grocery store distance where I can use my saver cards, schools). I do want to eventually be able to move into a nicer and more beautiful home closer to the Bay when I'm around retirement age so I can pass it down to my kids. Are there any neighborhoods that are super unique and stylish in architecture around North Bay that you know of?
@RelocatingToTheSFBayArea
@RelocatingToTheSFBayArea 2 года назад
Yes, I work primarily in the East Bay and am working on getting more videos up of the entire Bay Area, as you know it is a REALLY big area. The area you are talking about is in the North Bay Area. I have an amazing person I work with in that area that can talk more in depth about it. Petaluma, Napa, Santa Rosa are all great areas and actually a bit more affordable than the East Bay and SF Bay Area. I am happy to chat more to see how I can help and connect you to my associate that works primarily in that area, just LMK! I know she would be happy to chat more and educate you on the areas you are looking at! :) Just shoot me an email with your info and I can give you a call: rachelcapilre@gmail.com.

All your choices are east bay. Oakland? Spots of it perhaps, other spots will get you shot. To be fair, you said it was your personal favorites list. Mine’s different. Further south, where the weather’s better, and the tax base includes more high-tech. Sunnyvale, Mountain View, Cupertino, Santa Clara, Los Altos.
@RelocatingToTheSFBayArea

Yep it's MY favorites list for sure, primarily it's because of cost, location safety factors and school. There are many great places but many can't afford silicon valley. I personally would love to own a place in Los Altos Hills, Woodside and Palo Alto area but not the best commute for the masses and price point is only for a select few.

Marin is the best place to “live”. It may be expensive but, no urban sprawl. No Bart is actually an advantage, no “bill boards” ordinance. My Tam, the lakes, the beach, the bay, gateway to the Wine Country and the Russian River access to Bodega Bay and beyond. Low crime. Beautiful views, bike paths, The Ferry to SF. Headlands. Close to SF.

That's right. Plus, a lot of the homes there have views into the bay and are custom-made by architects rather than cookie-cutter developed by a construction-contractor company which is almost always worth the premium. In my honesty, splurging for a house with a nice view is a good reason if the plan is to settle there and raise kiddos. As a home entertainer, it's worth it to be the bigger person and host Christmas holidays, Thanksgiving, just about any celebration with a scenic backdrop while having the flexibility to eat and cook outside.

Interesting! Oakland and Alameda would be the last places I would look for me personally. I do agree with Berkeley though. I've been in the agricultural industry for a long time so my top picks would be biased toward the AVAs. My personal favorites are: (1) Healdsburg, the one I am hoping to save up for a move to start my own micro-winery and orchard, very close to Geyserville's finest wineries, Russian River, Lake Sonoma, and River Rock Casino, still a 10-minute drive away from typical town life. (2) Dillon Beach, secluded, quiet and private beachfront and Pacific view, little to no tourists, can build your own home or choose to buy one handcrafted from scratch by local architects. Great for ATVing around the hills and roads. (3) American Canyon, relatively affordable suburban area in the Bay while still living close to Napa and the East Bay. Also where a bunch of logistics warehouses sit so very close to my average blue-collar social circle if not people I meet in the winery biz. (4) Discovery Bay, perfect place for boating and kayaking footsteps away and super close to both Antioch and Stockton, respectable city life locations. New homes being built in the area closing in on Brentwood as well so first-time buyer ready. (5) Boulder Creek, nature at its essence. Surprisingly affordable compared to the rest of the region. Close to Santa Cruz and less than an hour away from Silicon Valley. Quiet and secluded with trees that aged beautifully.

I heard you say that Lafayette is more affordable than Berkeley, Alameda, and Oakland... I'm not sure that's true. It might have a similar price point to parts of Berkeley but from what I've seen, it's more expensive than most of Oakland and Alameda. Also as a side note, the haters on Oakland must've never been to the nicer parts of the city. To me, in 2022, there are nearly as many good areas as there are bad areas of Oakland.
@RelocatingToTheSFBayArea
@RelocatingToTheSFBayArea 2 года назад
All the desirable areas of Oakland and Berkeley are more expensive than Lafayette. Of course the places where people don’t want to live like off / near Fruitvale and MacArthur are more affordable but in general you will find better deals in Lafayette with more sqft and better schools in Lafayette. Both Berkeley and Oakland have great parts but way more homeless. Lafayette has hardly any homeless.
@johntashjian3926

Oakland is crime ridden and very dirty. Berkeley is good for those who like far left politics. Both of those cities have poor public schools and are filled with crime, homelessness and drugs which come with the progressive values. I agree with Walnut Creek and Lafayette on the list.

Those with money, and good jobs. And no, SF is not all drug addicts and poop on the streets...... Bay Area native here, as far as I’m concerned, I hit the jackpot!

@@toddpearson3849 Amen! Especially if you own property here. One thing I can say with confirmation is that people will forever flock to CA to live! I agree we are blessed to be here Todd! 😀

I knew I’d find at least one comment in this video that brings this up. Whether ya like it or not, some people still are moving here!

This is the worst video for information about the Bay Area! Oakland is #2? Lolz! And majority of the Bay Area folks do not work in SF! There are more jobs in South Bay compared to SF. So why are you making it seem like commuting to SF matters?

Lol because it matters to those people that do commute to SF. U act like no one works there?! To me that would be the worst video comment I’ve had!😂. Remember u are not the only person in the world with an opinion.
