This vid is packed with inspiration to get out there and explore! If you're thinking about heading out on the trails, be sure to check out all of the routes and areas mentioned in this vid-you won't be disappointed! Thanks again to Matt for inviting me to be a part of this vid! Also, a big shout out to Spartan Overland for reppin' the @adventuruss shirt! haha!
We have done Old 105, some trails in Pisgha NF, some of the SCAR, and about half of the GAT. Hurricane Creek and Buzzards Roost are on my short list this year. I’d also like to do a trip to the NC beaches at some point. So many amazing places in the South!
Great collaboration video Matt. Thank you for posting. I'm trying to get out there and do some more of these trails with my family. So far we've done a few 100 miles of the SCAR and looking to do some more in the mountains this summer. Spent a lot of time backpacking up there in my younger days and looking forward to introducing my kids to the area. Also a Florida lover and would like to hit the FAT at some point. Oh, and love that Jurassic Jeep you built!
So it sort of depends, but I always wear long pants, here we have ticks and stuff you don’t want on you. I really like a company called Teren designs. They make an pant that is really comfortable light weight and has anti bug stuff. terendesigns.com/products/daily-driver-pants
Your video is inspiring. Adventures like this is exactly what my son needs, me too. We live in northern Ohio. No challenging terrain desired at the moment due to my vehicle. So the question is…How much of a limitation is my stock 2016 4Runner 4WD with all-season 17” tires? No go? Main trails should be navigable? An overlanding set of wheels/tires is essential, regardless? Stick to RU-vid videos?
Thank you, actually I think your forerunner even stuck is very capable. You don’t have the greatest tires in the world, but I think you’re plenty fine for most standard forestry roads and things like that. I think you should get a good set of traction boards and go explore and just know that if something looks a little too sketchy that maybe you should avoid it unless you have other people with you that can help you out. But otherwise I think you’re good to explore, for example nothing about the Georgia traverse that you couldn’t do. The only times when it might get challenging for you would be exploring some of the side trails and offshoots. But sticking to the main forestry roads, you should not have a problem at all.
105 is great … done it with a all time 4wd 2017 explorer… but the road is getting less maintained I was up there a few months back and 2wd where having to turn around at one spot
Also be careful up there! Practice your 2nd. A lot of the campsites off 105 homeless and car residence have almost turned into 105 into tweekerville. Full time residents..Just be safe!
@@SimplyMustGo Cool vid, I’m subscribed to and met all involved. Will actually got me into overlanding as well years ago. Met him when he was passing through Ga and got a great deal on Action Trax from him. What a super cool dude. And spent time with Russ in Maggie Valley along with many others. Keep the vids coming. You never disappoint 👍
Loved this video! There is another trail I’ve heard of, but very little info on it. It’s called the Appalachian byway, it basically follows the Appalachian Trail from Ga to Maine!
Thanks Matt for bringing all this people and places together. I’m traveling while at lunch at work 👍👍👍. I second what Asia said about the Fat . We had to much fun doing the first part of it. You Simply must come
Great video, Matt! Being from SC, we are absolutely biased! We love the SCAR and have traveled much of the Eastern portion. Looking forward to taking on the full loop soon! Thanks for the great vid!
Those all look like some great places to overland here in the southeast. I have been trying to hit as many trails as possible during my shortened stay here in the area.
@@SimplyMustGo on Saturday we are going to Gulches with Georgia Jeep Alliance and on Sunday we will hit up Hurricane Creek and some other trails in that area with Adventuruss. You are welcome to join us.
Very informative video that I'll definitely be sharing with our overland group. I've driven the GA traverse and SCAR plenty of times but definitely need to work my way down south to see the FAT.
Love it. I think I told you and Will I’m in the Greenville area since 6/21. TN boy but been out west a few years. Your channel and Will’s are the first two I watched after moving here. Finally wrapping up my old Dodge’s wiring, finally getting out to explore the south. Definitely checking out the others. Georgia Traverse, Smokey Mountains, Pisgah area and KY Adventure Route are among my initial plans. Thanks for putting this together!
You’re welcome! Yeah, Will is a great dude. I’ve put most of these trails on my short list of trails to hit. I did the Georgia Traverse and I still have to edit the video.
