The fact that Larry Wilson played a game with two broken hands and managed to make an interception with said broken hands if insanity. What a different breed of human you have to be to be that tough.
Was hoping for an addendum with the best players born and raised in foreign countries, like Morten Andersen for Denmark, Garo Yepremian for Cyprus, maybe Jordan Mailata for Australia, etc
As a Steelers fan Mel Blound was the Man in Pittsburgh winning all 4 Super Bowl Rings in 1974 1975 1978 1979 NFL's Defensive player of the year in 1975 he went to Southern University in Louisiana 5:50
Players from Ohio, Roger Staubach, Paul Warfield, Larry Czonka, Alan Page, Jack Lambert Luke Kuechly, the Kelce bros, James Harrison, Charles Woodson, Chris Carter Orlando Pace and others. Vastly underrated.
Yeah, Lambert wasn't even the best defensive player from Ohio. I'd give that to Woodson. And Kuechly was probably the best linebacker. The competition just wasn't as good in the 70's.
My dad was born in Fort Wayne and was a varsity swimmer for one of the high schools there. He actually swam against Rod Woodson in highschool because swimming was Woodson's winter sport of choice instead of basketball or something else. My dad can actually say he beat a hall of fame football player in a swim meet 😂
@@jasonmay6368 The NFL was founded in 1920. He played in the NFL from 1920 to 1928. His fame as a player BEFORE the founding of the NFL got him selected as the first President, which today is known as the Commissioner.
Daryn Collegde played for my high school, and it was always pretty cool to see the golden football they have for the super bowl he won in the trophy case. Coming out of Alaska and having any kind of talent is pretty cool.
Mark Schlererth, or as his friends in college called him, "Fat Rob Lowe"! Pride of Alaska, adopted son of Colorado, and hands down one of the funniest dudes out there!
Pride of Alaska my ass! I was born and raised in Anchorage where he is from, He barely came back after he left. Never did any camps or anything to help other Alaskan athletes. He rarely even acknowledges Alaska.
@juandufree4309 I don't know anything about his time in Alaska. I'll take your word for it that he isn't part of Alaska. I do know that on his show he speaks very fondly of his time growing up in Alaska.
Here's an idea for a future video: Who are the best players to play for the team they grew up a fan of? Most players don't end up on the team they cheered for as a child, but a handful do and end up carving out great careers in the process. I think of someone like Adam Thielen for the Vikings or Chuck Bednarik for the Eagles.
Here’s a list of current players even though it’s based on the 2022/23 season ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-BcdmWLCzQh8.htmlsi=dNbkw2pKPqHu3Oj-
Drew Brees deserves the Texas spot he changed a team's history and made so many impacts in so many ways that are still felt today and will be felt for years to come.
@@innocentbystander72 yeah I don't think people realize how bad the Steelers were before Chuck Noll became coach and drafted Joe Greene then Bradshaw the next season, Greene was the catalyst, on the field, that turned that team around.
As a saints fan i will tolerate ZERO vernon davis slander. He never had the receiving numbers as Gronk or Graham but he wasnt ever in a system that fed him the ball. He was a blocker who could scorch you on a go route coming out a 3 point stance he was COLD
Randall McDaniel was a BadAss of a football player Underrated if you think about it but he didn't disappoint with Minnesota but he really was something 2:36
@@mathewfullerton8577 I can agree with Bo, he was a freak but the fact Prime could be elite in all 3 phases of the game puts him on a different pedestal
Barry Sanders was the most electrifying RB to ever play the game of football because he's a phenomenal player to watch Born and Raised from Kansas went to Oklahoma State won the Heisman Trophy in 1988 a 1st Round 3rd overall pick in the 1989 NFL Draft by the Lions #20 8:00
@scottb3034 Yeah, a lot of people don't realize that Sweetness was the only highlight in Chicago for a decade. Buddy Ryan and the Monsters of the Midway came in towards the end of his career. Rice went to SF, played with 2 HOF QBs, and then bounced around the league for 5 years. Rice was an elite athlete, no doubt, but he couldn't hold a candle to Sweetness
@@jaidee8786 He could also do almost literally everything. He was an all-pro level returner, the most prolific non-QB passer in the modern era, could block, catch and run and he even was able to punt the ball 40 yards. Sure Jerry was probably the best WR ever but you won't see him doing pretty much everything on the field at a high level like Sweetness did. You could play him anywhere and he'd be good. Jerry not so much.
@scottb3034 Walter really was a once-in-a-lifetime kind of elite athlete. I love watching his highlight reels, and I wish I could have had the pleasure of watching him live. I bet it was an exciting time to be a Bears fan
@@jaidee8786 what I admired most was the drive, heart, determination. It's cool being the fastest or strongest but when you aren't and you best those stronger and faster and thus are better than them, that resonates more. As Jim Brown said, give me Walter Paytons heart. But also he could still do it all even when he wasn't the biggest, fastest or strongest.
He also played against far inferior talent, compared to today's game. A lot of te players on this list wouldn't start today. Some may not have made a roster. But Jim Brown is one of the old school players who could definitely play today.
@@loki2240 I know but he’s one of the players that transcends eras. I generally tend to agree with you about the quality of competition as it tracks across eras but there are some who would be just as dominant if not more because of the updated rules for contact. Other than Rice, I think Brown might have the best case for having an even more insane career under today’s rules.
Walter Payton should have made it over Rice in Mississippi. Rice had Montana, Young and Gannon throwing to him over a 20 year career and Payton didn't have another pro bowler let alone AP or HOF on his offense until his 8th season in the league. Still is 3rd in all-purpose yards, 2nd in rushing yards and top 10 in total TDs... oh and he owns the super bowl era record for passing TDs for a non-QB. But I guess if there was one guy that beats him out, at least it is Jerry Rice who is the best at his position.
Jonathan Ogden was a absolute awesome OT Baltimore Ravens 1st Round 4th overall pick UCLA in the 1996 NFL Draft he's won Super Bowl Championship in 2000 11X Pro Bowler and a Hall Of Famer he didn't disappoint that's for sure 22:55
I never even knew John Elway was from Port Angeles. Ive never heard ANYBODY from the state of Washington claim John Elway as a player from here. Thats insane.
David bell is gonna be a top 5 player outa Indiana when his career is said and done idc man if the browns give his a shot or just trade him to a team that could and would actually use him he’s flourish man that young bull is really built different known him since his peewee days and boy all I can say is he got that dawg in him
I guess you didn't know that Tony Boselli is from Colorado? McAffrey is great, but he's not in the HOF, let alone one of the very best at his position.
Jerry Rice the G.O.A.T the 1985 NFL Draft a 1st Round draft choice Mississippi Valley State University by the 49ers he's won three Super Bowl Championships 1988 1989 & 1994 with Montana and Young he changed the game of football like no other Wide Receiver has ever done there's only one Jerry Rice not to many young Receivers can last longer like Mr.Rice can from 1985-2005 a Hall Of Famer in 2010 class as well #80 11:40
As a Tar-Heels fan the Lawrence Taylor was a one man reckon crew a 1st Round 2nd overall pick out of University of North Carolina in the 1981 NFL Draft by the New York Giants LT is a 3X NFL's Defensive player of the year NFL's MVP in the 1986 season and a 2X Super Bowl Champion Born and Raised from Virginia he certainly made it worth it in the Big Apple too!
