Lovely clear video nice work .only pet hate is frayed rope 😃 please get a hot blade and trim up that rigging block line that frayed endwould drive me nuts lol.....also I get the groundsman to warm the saw up a bit so when you receive it ,1 pull and it starts .easier for him on the ground than you up the tree ..nice video amigo stay safe .🙂
You think roping back up is quicker/easier than spiking back up? Maybe you need to practice your spiking as the only people I've known who do that are shit on spikes.
Nice work, looks like a tight area! A tip would be to do a bit more planning ahead on a job like this, leaving the closest spar to the drop zone tallest would have made a much better rigging point for all those stems and when your done you have a rope in a pulley up there to the top and a open landing zone to just chunk that one down. What is that little pry bar thing yu have?
I’ve been doing some abrogation training but I’ve only been trained in roping and was told that the spike method wasn’t used anymore. In Sweden at least so I didn’t make the grade on tree cutting class. I think I’ll be more of use on the ground driving around delivering all kinds of goods and mail than up in the tree tops.
Next time don't de limb the entire thing and leave the spars up in the sky scraping the clouds. It would make your job a lot easier and you wouldn't have to waste an hour and a half climbing all the way back up to the top of that spar . Also like the guy said in the previous comments you should have left The spar closest to your landing zone higher than The spar farthest from it.you did good . Just keep working at it takes time and practice. An that felling bar is nice. But definitely not a necessity higher tip tie on the tagline a open pie. And decently experienced groundsman could have saved you a lot of that bounce up that spar. Just food for thought my dude
sick video! i am an apprentice climber- i started training at job corps but they closed for covid. Had trouble finding a Master Arborist since then but videos like this keep me in the loop. cant wait to get back to work
Interesting technique. I have yet to see a pry bar employed to break away the block of wood. Do you prefer this method over hinge cutting? Please explain.. Thank you.
Well I'm a pretty new arborist, so I don't think I've compared the techniques much. But I always make both cuts overlap. Then if you want to make sure you have the direction right, you can add a gob in it too.
What a great idea using a prussic knot on your flip line for going all the way around the tree! It’s there if you want it and can be a normal flip line when you don’t need it. I like that better than a mechanical clip, the Prussic stays however you set it. Loose for going down and can be slipped tight to choke the stem when needed! Good job. Thank you! Ps: what country do you live?

How many years do you have experience for trees do you cut all arborist types just curiosity since I need myself years ago has been over 30 some years I said the name I am where I go by I liked for people to try to not call themselves exactly where I call myself it's going to get confusing but you keep up the good work let me know how many years you got underneath belt
whats the device called that you use to pry the wood off of the stump? that would be nice for my company to have. I want to buy these for my arborist employees
Can you tell me what skills person should have so that this job would be fitting for him? How did u you got an idea to become arborist? It looks like very physically and dangerous work.
Yea you shouldn't be too stiff, and also need to get comfortable in heights. But if you really want to, and you've got the body for it. Then it'll be no problem. But get a proper training
Bro that is way too much equipment for me. I'm not knocking it, but I prefer just a buckstrap and spikes on a spar. Double wrap if it's sketchy. Blow it out and ride the wave. I am however very impressed with your setup. I've never seen anything like it.
I kinda miss climbing I was geting to a point of 2 out of five days I was scared really didn't want to be in the tree I'd still climb but didn't like it couldn't kick the fear
How did you know the top of the tree was not rotten inside and could support your weight when you belted in? Also, that's some solid rigging you did there.
Why no notch ? Logs spin and snap like toothpicks like that. Never seen it done that way before unless crane work. Also like the guy above said - you could of just swing everything to that one middle tree instead of spare rigging like that. I bet that took forever !
You have excellent taste in gear right down to the airstreams. Are those arbortec hi viz pants? I need to wear hi viz so I might as well lean into it. Rather than only black pants. I have a black pair of breatheflex pro UL pants and there really couldn’t be a better chainsaw pant, especially for summer. The Arborflex skins base layers are really thick so better for winter. But the storm skins are awesome. And you were in the top of the tree before I finished so obvious badass.
@@lucfournier3939 Sure, so I hadn't had to climb up and set it up again? We did that too, but there were weeks between the jobs, so sometimes we couldn't leave a flipline up there for too long, so we had to do it again.
When you are doing something which has risk involved, then you are forced to keep a steady mind and high concentration. No one can rush me, because I personally refuse to do things faster than I feel comfortable with.
If you’ve just started as arborist your doing well. You’ll soon realise that all the gadgets and toys are a waste of time!! Keep things simple and efficient 👍
Why use your climbing system when you begin? It cannot properly choke and descend in such a configuration. A friction saver or srt choked configuration would seem better here.
At 18.05 you made a really critical mistake. You should never cut near your ropes likes that and also no safty mitt on your chainsaw just to make sure you have an insured grip
It's called a Hipstar Flex lanyard from Teufelberger. You can also make it yourself with a pinto pulley and a little prussik. But have a look on the net for it! Thanks for watching
